I really wanted to hit him with a ban, but—well—I ran into some issues... with the settings...

Everything's a 5. The only thing I noticed is that this specific poet hasn't quite hit that "gray area" yet? Look, I don't care about anyone else's score, I'm just trying to wrap my head around the criteria here...

I guess I'm seeing radio silence here... So, does that mean this kind of communication is actually okay?

So, I started a thread yesterday about how the Ford association could support local businesses http://www.reddit.com/r/thread/869295 and immediately became the target of some absolutely vile swearing and insults from user Azrael (http://www.reddit.com/r/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=53490950), who spent maybe four or five posts detailing these... uh, let's call them "elaborate schemes" involving his mother and my perfectly decent dog, Gara.

Then, the next day, the moderator Carol Price4 pops up with a message saying, "Try to keep it civil," and wipes those poetically phrased insults clean. Honestly, am I missing something here? Like, what kind of logic is this? Because the posts are gone, but I noticed Azrael didn't get grayed out or anything.

Just, you know, purely for the sake of setting standards, I’m asking if this kind of "poetic expression" is actually allowed on Reddit, and whether I should expect the same treatment down the road.

For instance—if someone really doesn't like my writing style—can I just lean into some colorful, old-school vernacular and tell them, "Screw your Gara and your whole family," or maybe something even more out there, and then just assume my posts will eventually be deleted while I keep happily posting away on the site?

Man, this guy really went and bought himself a whole lot of trouble...

Oh, you definitely do—I mean, there’s always a special corner of heaven reserved just for the greenhorns...

stormylynx40 said:So did you actually try reaching out to these debtors or sit down with them to see what the hold-up is?

Nah, it’s not that... he basically just blew his cash on legal fees just for the hell of it. What's the problem? The problem is they aren't paying him back.😬

I mean, I lend him 4 bucks, he gives me 5 back in a few months—doesn't sound like everyone wins there!

Give him all five, just hand the guy the cash already.😉

I’m telling you, if someone who isn't actually family—you know, not your dad, or your mom, or even a sibling or an aunt—is the one handing you that loan... they probably aren't exactly a saint 😉

Brian Moore12 said:Yeah. They're all equally annoying, tedious, rude, and arrogant.

I mean, that’s basically just how everyone acts when you owe them money and haven't paid up yet... whether it's a big bank or just some guy running a local diner where you've been running up a tab.

goldenskipper9 said:Garfield, you looking to offer any loans or something similar?

So, let me get this straight—is it normal for someone I lent $100,000 to a few years back to suddenly start accusing me of never actually having the cash in the first place? Like, now they’re claiming lending money is somehow illegal, complaining the interest we agreed on is way too high, whining that the plot of land they bought has dropped in value, and pointing out that the house they used as collateral is their only property... all while suggesting they might—and I mean *might*—consider paying back what they took, but only if we scrap the interest entirely and pay it back in old currency at whatever the exchange rate was back then, even though the dollar is worth way more now...

I mean, I'm not exactly an idiot...

Maybe the only people I'd trust to actually honor a deal are the guys down at a local dive bar or a greasy spoon, because at least they seem to respect a handshake...
How is it that nobody ever calls me out on my crap? Lastane, am I actually sane here?

Brian Moore12 said:Exactly. Run from American "banks" and credit offers as fast as you can. Just issue yourself a restraining order against every financial institution within ten miles. And stay away from those tacky street festivals too.

As for that guy offering you a few bucks in exchange for twenty-two, he clearly doesn't realize he's basically offering a payday loan. Even if you signed something like that, it would be legally void, and he'd be facing charges under Section 242 of the Penal Code of the United States. He's probably just a loan shark himself—or maybe even a banker looking for a quick cut...

She’s not exactly dim, though, so she wouldn't sign something like that just to whine about it later 😬...

Besides, turning four bucks into twenty-two doesn't require any shady business, but trying to explain that to you would probably exceed my meager pedagogical skills—not that I'm qualified or anything 😉... Unless I can also snag a piglet like that math professor of yours?

Brian Moore12 said:What’s so obvious here? It’s pretty clear you’ve churned out nearly 10,000 posts in less than a decade. If anything is "obvious," it's that you live on your computer. People like you usually have zero clue what’s actually happening in the real world. Your folks did you a favor by telling you to get out of your room, see what's actually going on, and try socializing with actual humans for once.

And what else is news? Your old man just kept some things to himself. 😁

That's coming from someone who hit a hundred posts in less than a month 😍...

If it weren't for Dad lugging those piglets over to the math teacher, you might realize you spend way more time typing away on here 😬

Bravo, damn... At least you caught on before taking that loan I offered you... instead of whining later that I screwed you over like all those other folks who clearly didn't read what was right in front of them...

You want me to lend you two bucks and then another two? You're gonna pay me back twenty-two? Seriously... maybe go ask your first-grade teacher for some compensation instead. 😬

Brian Moore12 said:And apparently, anyone who doesn't think exactly like you is a log.
So what does that make you?

To me, an idiot is basically anyone who thinks two plus two doesn't equal four—you know, those people who blame some shadowy global conspiracy for everything else going wrong.😉

Honestly, I don't blame the professor for being so frustrated... I mean, sure, maybe the guy is doing his job just fine, but you can't exactly baptize a tree, you know?

I’m pretty sure I’ll be dropping a whole series of posts over on some DIY forums soon about how the government needs to step in and ban pliers immediately—I mean, seriously, you could accidentally crush your own finger if you aren't careful. 😬

And honestly, nobody seems to want to do the hard work of making it easier to strip someone of their legal capacity... though, looking at some of the stuff being posted here, I might just start handing out those designations myself...

Honestly, the best way is just getting a hand from Mom and Dad—zero interest, straight cash, maybe spread out over 20 or 30 years... If that doesn't work (which usually happens because, let's face it, none of the generations actually have the funds when they need them), then you look for those decent folks who put up flyers on telephone poles...

Just whatever you do, don't go running to those shady bankers. Their only real goal is to get their hands on a tiny 500-square-foot apartment near some small town you've never heard of...

And especially when it comes to who you’re actually lending cash to 😬

Thanks for the unsolicited advice, I guess... My first filter is set to 'who' and only the second one kicks in for 'what,' according to ☕

Honestly, I don't see any reason why anyone would go out of their way to be nice to someone who owes them cash and is still screwing them over 🤷... Personally, I know I wouldn't be... So, how do you, BTW, usually handle people who won't pay up after you guys already had an agreement in place?
