I made my stance clear the second I saw who was chosen—I’m done with political threads. Looking at this now, the usual lively debates have just completely dried up compared to how things used to be. Honestly, we should just stop posting altogether before this place turns into nothing more than a propaganda bulletin for guys with Putin avatars. This election was one of the biggest political disasters in recent memory. As long as Andrey is moderating, I won't be participating—and I’m calling on everyone else to just boycott the whole thing.

The whole debate regarding Yugoslavia actually kicked off because of this article—Russian state accounts on X were marking the 22nd anniversary of the bombings of Milošević while basically whitewashing his image with fake photos. It’s highly relevant here, given it involves official White House-level propaganda.

The movie actually does a great job showing the transition of American society over the last twenty years. Back then, it would’ve been impossible for a guy from the lowest rung of the ladder—coming from some absolute backwater town—to even get into a car, let alone work his way up to owning a taxi fleet.

It’s basically a Hollywood production set in India—except the plot isn't shackled by today's typical Hollywood tropes.

It plays out just like how our "hero" fights against the constraints forced upon him by being born into a lower caste.

If you ask me, the guy did the right thing. His family—including his grandmother—is purely interested in his money; they couldn't care less about his struggles. And the kicker? His grandma actually signs off on a written confession for a murder he didn't even commit! 🙂

Then there's the boss... despite spending years living in America and being more enlightened than the rest of the folks in India (rich or poor), he still lacks the backbone to resist his backward family. Even when it comes to losing his wife, the family dynamic overrides everything. In the end, that family cost him his life.

One small detail, though—it was a bit clumsy, so I have to mention it. At the start of the film, the protagonist mentions in a voiceover that Islam has one God, while Christianity has three. 🤣

I didn't get that part either. Maybe it was meant to show that the 21st century belongs to the yellow and brown man rather than the white man.

Regardless, the movie is genuinely great—definitely one of the better recent releases on Netflix.

"Andrusha" is just an affectionate nickname for Andrew in Russian—there’s zero disrespect intended there. In fact, most people in the US or Ukraine would just call Andrew by a similar pet name if they were close to him.



To be honest, I’ve been following the Russia situation for ages, and the first guy to start handing out nicknames to everyone here was driftingtinker. From internet troll to actual political commentator. Once he started getting some traction, the reports started flying in and he quieted down.

People used to call Ivan the Terrible a "lowlife"—it was practically the standard label for any pro-Russia supporter for a while, and I’ll admit, I fell for it too. driftingtinker invented that whole culture and started the trend. Not to mention all the nonsense about Perigaci and everything else.

But here we are now, dealing with "Andrusha" as the new problem.

It's the same old story.
