A tough break for the Washington old-timers—they actually clawed their way back from a 16-point deficit and even held a slim lead with five minutes left on the clock. Then Crawford and Young decided to go rogue with those wild shots, and that was that.

Washington - Boston
Pick: Washington

Odds: 2.52

Bookmaker: Pinnacle

Stake: 3/10

It’s confirmed—Rondo isn't playing today. Given his impact on the Celtics' offense, their current slump, Pierce's lackluster performance, and the fact that Rondo put up a triple-double against Washington just a few weeks back—this could be a rough one for Boston.
Washington is struggling at 1-12, but they’ve been finding some rhythm lately. They’ve cleared 100 points in three straight games against solid teams like Oklahoma City, Houston, and Denver—they even pulled an upset over OKC. They stayed competitive against Denver until the final minute, and against Houston, they held their own well into the third quarter. John Wall has stepped it up significantly; the Wizards aren't an easy target anymore. Meanwhile, the Celtics are sitting at a dismal 5-9, including a mediocre 1-4 stretch on the road. Without Rondo last game, they managed only 71 points against Phoenix in their own arena. Not good.
I'm taking this one with a small unit stake.

Hawks vs. Cleveland: Home win (could've played the spread, too)
Memphis vs. Sacramento: Home win (standard favorite win—smooth enough)
Nets vs. OKC (-7.5): Away win (OKC won by 10—didn't sweat it much since they led by 20 most of the way)
Houston vs. Spurs (+2.5 spread): Home win (ended 105-102)😁
+ added a single soccer leg (Juventus win)

On my casual parlay, I took the Over on the Bulls, Memphis and Atlanta on the spread, and OKC to go 2/2 in the moneyline—Portland was the only thing that killed it.

There’s already a thread dedicated to winning slips. 😉

Instead, we're here debating games that haven't even tipped off yet.

Gerald Wallace is out for Portland—finger injury. We didn't get any word on it until tip-off.
Portland’s defense has been shaky as it is—plus Aldridge and Camby are already in foul trouble—so this could get messy.

Atlanta should handle this one with ease.
NBA Betting: Vol. 2 in Betting Forum ·
I’ve been giving Oklahoma some serious thought—I'm with you two on this—but I think I'll pass. Three large in a single day is too much for me; things rarely end well that way.
Deron isn't missing shots this season, and Westbrook is going to drive him absolutely insane with that aggression. Without Deron, the Nets are just garbage...

Ibaka could probably outplay Humphries any day of the week.

Atlanta vs. Cleveland
Pick: Atlanta -7.5

Odds: 1.943

Sportsbook: Pinnacle

Unit: 4/10

Atlanta (11-5) is in solid form—four wins in their last five. They are dominant at home with a 7-1 record, largely driven by an offense that averages a healthy 101.6 points per game on their own floor. Joe Johnson—overrated as he may be—is finally finding his rhythm, and Josh Smith has been nothing short of phenomenal this season. He’s a physical force who does it all: scoring, passing, rebounding, and rim protection. His stat line is impressive—16.7 points on 50% shooting, 9.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, 1.2 steals, and 1.8 blocks. Even without All-Star Al Horford due to injury, they remain resilient; their defense is elite, allowing just 90.8 points per game. The bench depth is also reliable, led by guys like McGrady, Radmanović, and Pachulia.
Cleveland has had a surprisingly decent start, anchored by number one overall pick Kyrie Irving, sitting at 6-8. However, the cracks are showing—they seem to be regressing toward their true north: the bottom tier of the Eastern Conference. They’re on a two-game skid, and last night's loss to Chicago was arguably the worst in franchise history.
They have the ceiling to be a playoff contender in a few years, but right now? Not even close. Jamison is aging and injury-prone, and the roster is simply too thin. Aside from Irving, Varejao is the only player showing real promise.
Irving had a couple of "brain fade" moments last night—throwing passes into the gutter, essentially—which prompted his coach to bench him for a significant stretch. It was a clear message: no more sloppy play. If the kid continues that nonchalance tonight, expect the same treatment.
Both teams played according to their recent trends last night. Given Atlanta’s superior depth, they should handle the fatigue better than the visitors will.

Last season, Atlanta faced the Cavs three times and walked away with three decisive victories—winning by 16, 15, and 12 points respectively. I expect them to control this one at home against a Cleveland squad that struggles defensively. Taking the spread.

Detroit is a disaster regardless. 🤣

Go ahead, put Boozer in the SPAT—just try to actually report the results this time, unlike last time.

I'm off to check out another bet. ☕

Detroit - Portland
Pick: Portland -6.5

Odds: 1.862

Betting shop: Pinnacle

Unit stake: 5/10

I’ve been covering Detroit quite a bit lately—a grim squad, really. It's mostly veterans just looking to coast through their contracts, poor chemistry, and three players sidelined by injury (with Stuckey joining Andrew Bynum and Andrés Villanueva on the bench last night). Their main assets are Gordon and Monroe, though the Trail Blazers might give Monroe a hard time tonight—Camby is a defensive specialist, after all. Plus, this is Portland's final game of this six-game road trip; they're sitting at 2-3 right now and will certainly want to pull even before heading back home. As I’ve noted previously, Detroit is essentially last year's Milwaukee—bottom of the league in scoring average, poor shooting percentages, low volume, and weak defense. They are the polar opposite of the Blazers, who have high expectations for this season.
Both teams played last night—Portland won convincingly, while Detroit lost, predictably. They are now 3-13, having dropped 9 of their last 10.
Regarding head-to-head matchups, Portland has won 6 of the last 6.
As for games played in Detroit, Portland has taken 10 of the last 13.

The Blazers are simply superior—better depth, higher motivation, and a better coach. That should be enough to cover a 7-point spread against Detroit tonight.

What do you guys mean by ATS, SU, afaik, and all these other acronyms? I have no clue what the hell you're talking about. 😬

I'm not about to go digging through Google right now.

Going to grab a nap until 1:30—just enough time before tip-off.

Just some info:

The line for Golden State vs Indiana is set at 188.5 total points at Steve Nash, but most other betting shops have it sitting around 192.5 right now—that's a pretty significant gap.

I'm not saying it’ll hit, but man, a four-point discrepancy is hard to ignore. 🤷

I won't be putting anything on this myself; just thought I'd share in case anyone's looking.

Detroit vs Memphis.
Memphis Grizzlies pick: Memphis -3.5

Odds: 1.935

Betting shop: Pinnacle

Log: 8/10

The Memphis Grizzlies are a solid, cohesive unit—highly likely to secure a Playoff spot even in a stacked West. They’ve got Eric Collison running the floor, Gordon Allen providing elite defense, and the athleticism of Rudy Gay. Marc Gasol continues to improve, and with Zach Randolph sidelined, Carl Landry has stepped into the starting lineup and looks like he’s earned the coach's trust by playing surprisingly well. As for the bench, led by May, it isn't anything spectacular, but it certainly isn't bad either. Their biggest strength is interior scoring; they rank 4th in the league for points in the paint—a stat that gets even more impressive at home. Only the Denver Nuggets outperform them in that category, though the Nuggets are really in a league of their own when it comes to sheer volume. Most importantly, Memphis is riding a wave right now. They’ve won four straight, they’re coming off a rest day, and they’ll be hungry to keep this streak alive tonight.

You'll find much better opportunities to keep this streak alive than playing the Detroit Pistons.
To avoid repeating myself, I'll quote what I wrote about them a couple of days ago when they played the Houston Rockets:

James Taylor3 said:The Detroit Pistons are struggling—they’re giving up way too many points in the paint, which should open things up for Lowry and Scoline to get some minutes. On top of that, Detroit has the worst offense in the league right now, averaging a measly 85.4 points per game. I caught an article this morning noting that they're among the teams taking the fewest shots in the league—and even when they do pull the trigger, their conversion rate is bottom of the barrel.http://nbacro.com/clanci/pogled-kroz...calderon-13309The Houston Rockets have been averaging 108 points over their last three games—they could easily keep that three-digit scoring streak alive tonight.
The Detroit Pistons have the worst rebounding numbers in the entire league right now—it's honestly pathetic. They look completely exhausted. You’ve got a roster full of veterans who seem to be just coasting toward retirement since they have zero chance at making the Playoffs, let alone anything meaningful.
Alright, looks like the Detroit Pistons are still without Carlos Villanueva today—and maybe Andrew Bynum too.

They’re in absolute shambles right now—sitting at 3-12, having dropped 9 of their last 10. To make matters worse, they still have the worst offense in the league, and those numbers have actually cratered; they're averaging a pathetic 85.0 points per game.

The Memphis Grizzlies are significantly better than the Detroit Pistons—they’re playing with actual momentum, unlike the home team. Their presence in the paint is dominant, which should give the Pistons some serious trouble. The handicap feels a bit generous; honestly, I expected it to be wider when I first saw the matchup, so I'm taking it. This is my first time bumping up the stakes this season—hopefully, things stay predictable.

Miami Heat vs. LA Lakers
Pick: Miami Heat -5.5

Odds: 2.01

Bookie: Pinnacle

Unit: 4/10

Everyone knows the deal with Miami—they’re three-star championship contenders. We might be missing Dwyane Wade tonight, though there is a slim chance he suits up. LeBron James has been playing at a phenomenal level this season, and Chris Bosh has stepped up significantly; his numbers are much better than last year when he was clearly struggling to adjust to being the third option. The Heat boast a solid bench this year, largely because key pieces like Mike Miller and Udonis Haslem are staying healthy. They provide essential depth for Erik Spoelstra's rotation. There is also a possibility we see the massive center, Chase Budinger, make his debut tonight—though his conditioning is a question mark since he hasn't played in quite some time.
Additionally, Miami hit gold in the draft with Chase Budinger—he wasn't a high pick, but he's playing well above expectations. They also added Shane Battier, a seasoned defender who could either start tonight or be tasked with shadowing Kobe Bryant. Miami has even hinted that LeBron James might take turns guarding Kobe, which should pose plenty of problems for him given LeBron's defensive capabilities.
The Lakers rely heavily on their trio of Kobe-Gasol-Bynum—that's essentially the whole story. The rest of the roster is thin, especially the bench, leaving the heavy lifting to those three. Kobe Bryant is averaging over 30 points this season, leading the league in scoring, but he tends to force shots and make questionable decisions during crunch time. The Lakers haven't been great on the road either, sitting at 1-4 away from home, and they've even dropped games to underdogs like the Sacramento Kings.
Miami swept them both last season, and I expect them to remain superior to the Lakers this year. Their roster depth is superior, they are tough to beat at home, and they lead the league in scoring with an average of 107.23 points. While the Lakers defend well—allowing only 89.40 points per game—that figure is skewed by home games. On the road, they give up an average of 97.2 points, a number inflated only by a single 78-point performance against the Utah Jazz. In three of their other four away games, they surrendered over 100 points, and in the fourth, they gave up 99.

I think Miami takes it tonight and covers this spread, which doesn't feel too steep. They are dominant at home and have more weapons; besides, if Kobe Bryant's shot isn't falling early, things look grim for the Lakers, as he tends to force the issue when frustrated.

socis85 said:Just so everyone knows—for those betting on player props at the bookie, overtime points definitely count toward the total. I hope you didn't toss your ticket out the window based on that misinformation if you were riding a late player prop... OKC 🤣 Good luck, though I missed yesterday's massive NBA day.

Let’s get this straight once and for all: Overtime counts toward individual player totals, but for game lines and spreads, it’s strictly regulation time.
Every sportsbook lists their rules online—take five minutes to actually read them; it’s not exactly rocket science.

Here is an example regarding player props:

The game went into overtime and ended 104-108.

Indiana 🙂

The Pacers held a 14-point lead heading into the final frame—only to get absolutely dismantled by a 26-8 run in the fourth. 🤦

I haven't seen anything quite like that in the NBA. 🙄

Sacramento just dominated the glass, snatching 30 offensive rebounds right out from under them. 😲

On another note, it looks like every game has been a nail-biter lately—well, except for Boston.
