Bronze Medal Match: USA vs. Norway (31-24) in Other Sports ·

Does anyone actually know where Carl Garcia22 is from? I wonder if he has any teammates from his neck of the woods playing in the league right now. 😁

Adam Williams2 said:I'm honestly just sitting here waiting for someone to make the smart observation that people are being hounded simply because they come from the South 🙏

Well, look—I’m from the South myself, and I still find myself hating on them sometimes! So, what's the big deal?

Look, it’s not that Mirko is out there actively sabotaging the team—it’s just that you have to earn your spot on the national roster, and frankly, he hasn't earned his lately. This is sports, after all—there’s no room for bitterness or making excuses when someone else steps up. There are simply better players available right now, and it's time to move on...

Wait, what are you even talking about?

When did the US-Kiel game actually happen?

And as for Stevanović today—look, when the game reaches that absolute tipping point, that split second where it decides if they end up at -1 or we walk away with a +3—that’s when Stevie pulls him. That is his goalkeeper right there.

Even on his "off" days, the guy was still putting up about ten saves just to stay in the hunt. It’s hard to argue with that kind of consistency.

That’s really where the distinction lies—what counts as a "bad" day for Omeyer involves putting up ten solid defensive stops, whereas for Alilovic, that would actually be considered an incredible performance.

Samuel Walker7 said:Personally, I think these players are absolute legends—I tip my hat to them every single time because they’ve truly given their all out there. Kopljar might be a bit soft sometimes, but the guy plays through the pain; even when he’s struggling, he steps up and handles the defense.

Meanwhile, when Mirko is acting like a total disaster—probably because of some flu or something—and fails to defend against the Americans, we end up losing to the Americans. Then Stevie takes the Player of the Game honors, and by the time we hit the semifinals, you’re stuck with Mirko playing like a complete clown in goal... honestly, you just can't get rid of him. 🤣

Thanks midwife 🙏

The players are incredible, really, but I just wish the guys who are actually performing would play more than the ones who just sound better on paper.

Honestly, Alilović's face said everything to me today—he looks like he's definitely asking for forgiveness.

Honestly, seeing the way certain idiots act after they settle for bronze—as if it’s some massive achievement that justifies their ego—makes me wish we had just been knocked out immediately at the Olympics. Then maybe I wouldn't have to deal with them constantly writing these delusional posts about "legends" every single season. ☕

Let’s just be realistic when it comes to Babić—he was a tough pill to swallow during that finals run—but if Goluža had been the one calling the shots on the bench, he probably would have started today's game with Alilović and Čupić anyway. He likely wouldn't have even given those "boys" any meaningful minutes, maybe just a couple of minutes here and there to keep them warm. Instead, Babić brought in Zlaja and Steve. Honestly, it was one of his few truly smart tactical moves.

I honestly feel so bad for Mike... it’s just heartbreaking. The worst part about this whole situation is that this bronze medal finish is actually masking some deep-seated issues within our national team—problems that are eventually going to come back to haunt us.

Once this championship wraps up, it’s pretty obvious he’s ready to move on—it's just time for him to head out...

Hey, Carl Garcia22, give it a rest, will you? Seriously... if a guy says he’s just not feeling it, why are you trying to lecture him? It’s not that deep.

A 13% defensive rating is basically a total wash... I could probably go out there and miss 17 out of 20 rebounds myself.

I can't help but feel a little sentimental about all that untapped potential we left on the table—it really feels like there was gold right within our reach. From what I can see, even the players seem to realize just how close they came to grabbing it, too... It’s such a shame to let an opportunity like that slip by, but honestly, I still want to say huge congratulations on that bronze medal performance! It certainly had a certain luster to it.

There’s really no point in heading out for coffee anymore—it feels like the only thing keeping us going is Steve

Man, we had that championship game practically in the bag... seriously, Babić, what were you thinking?🙂

Dennis Doyle3 said:After the game, Babić actually tried to explain why Mirko spent the entire half playing goalie—he basically thought Mirko was going to pull off some massive save, so he just sat there waiting for it to happen. Of course, Mirko didn't save a single thing, which didn't surprise anyone... except, apparently, Babić.
As for why he even started that whole ordeal? Honestly, your guess is as good as mine. I highly doubt we'll ever get a straight answer on that one.

fadedrider17 said:Does anyone actually know why—for heaven's sake, WHY—is Alilović still playing the entire half and only managing two saves total? Has Babic completely lost his touch, or are there some behind-the-scenes politics at play here?

And as for the fatigue—well, what can I say? You just can't think straight when you're that drained; mistakes start creeping in, like leaving Alilović out to defend for an entire half.

That win against the Americans really took its toll on us—I suppose that kind of thing only happens to our team.

Harold Long21 said:We honestly need a solid psychologist on the staff—I’m being dead serious here. Time and again, from one tournament to the next, we find ourselves completely Chucking it during those high-stakes games. If our matchup had happened at the exact same time as the Fra-Nor game, we probably would have Chucked against the Americans too. The bottom line remains: our greatest sporting achievements always came when we had true motivators leading the charge—guys like Lin and Chico.

Even Duvnjak mentioned how much more nauseating the losses in the semifinals feel than just losing itself. Honestly, you aren't far off the mark there.

I keep thinking about those moments in American movies where the opponent absolutely crushes you before halftime, and then they head into the locker room for a speech so stirring even a four-star general would be humbled—everyone leaps up, shouting, fueled by pure grit, they regroup tactically, and somehow pull off a win against all odds. It’s a total cliché, I know, but sometimes... sometimes it feels like it could actually be true.

The problem is, we just don't have that kind of leader on our bench right now.
