Long live the new king! in Formula 1 ·
Jeremy Reyes4 said:Do you seriously have a Vettel complex?
Just look at how many years Alonso has been in F1 compared to Vettel—he’s been around much longer, yet he actually has two fewer titles under his belt.

Honestly, I’d argue Alonso's two titles carry more weight than four of Vettel's—mostly because Alonso had to fight against Schumacher in what was essentially a subpar car—well, maybe not a total junker, but certainly nothing close to the level of the Ferrari.👋

Don't forget to keep an eye on those tire temperatures—and hey, let's try to keep the vibes high and stay positive! 😁

Even if there was contact—and he definitely hit him and disrupted his line—it still felt off.

Look, if Fernando Alonso gets slapped with a penalty, then Ricciardo should have faced one too. At this point, I wouldn't be surprised if Kimi calls it quits next year to just focus on family life... after all, he gave his absolute best years to WRC.

Jason Campbell70 said:Here’s how it plays out: Lewis Hamilton ducks into the pits, only to emerge in third place.

The culprit is:
a) the crew on the pit wall
b) the crew on the pit wall
c) the crew on the pit wall
d) all of the above
e) a nervous little young hater Lewis Hamilton

So, my final verdict is 😁

I'll try to put together a proper little write-up tomorrow; it's already midnight here.

Hey Jason, is "tolerance" just part of your name?

He beat him. So what? One single mistake doesn't suddenly make someone a failure—it’s just one bad day in the grand scheme of things. Honestly, the fact that you felt the need to drop the word "cheating" right in your very first sentence says everything I need to know about this whole "hater" vibe you claim to be so allergic to. It's a bit ironic, isn't it? 🙂

When exactly do you think I should bring up 2011? 🤣 Well, it looks like his little theories just went right down the drain—completely debunked!

@Hoot

It’s funny how people love to lecture everyone else about what defines a champion—claiming you can't tear one down just because they were dominant, while simultaneously putting someone else on a pedestal—yet they end up doing exactly that. In my view, the man enters these races knowing full well he's really only racing against Nico Rosberg. 🙏

I mean, look, if Nico Rosberg were Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, or Michael Schumacher, we’d be having a completely different conversation—but he’s just Nico Rosberg. It feels similar to how Mark Webber was often dismissed as just being "poor old Webber," even though Sebastian Vettel actually had to contend with legends like Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. This guy? He hasn't got anyone like that.

For a long time, Vettel was basically the "guy everyone loved to hate," and yet nobody gave him his due credit for those titles. Personally, I find myself finally tipping my cap to him now in 2015, especially while watching this absolute farce of a last two seasons unfold.

steelmaker83 said:Actually, he isn't. When he's actually focused—which doesn't happen often enough—he's basically untouchable. That’s exactly what I was getting at.

He’s definitely got what it takes; it just takes about a thousand different variables to align perfectly before he can even dream of being on level ground with the rest of them—even when they're in those damn cars.

Another interesting thing to note—and it's pretty obvious if you look closely—is how people treated Sebastian Vettel back when he was winning in a car that wasn't nearly as competitive as Lewis Hamilton's. Back then, everyone was talking trash, claiming his only real achievement was beating Mark Webber. Now, look at how they're practically canonizing Hamilton, even though he's really just beating Nico Rosberg and himself most of the time.

Well, folks, that, my friends, is what we call MARKETING.

Honestly, Lujo didn't even give Button a run for his money—I really don't get why everyone is putting him on such a pedestal. Once he finds himself paired with someone in a car that can actually compete with a Mercedes, he’ll start playing those aggressive games just like he's done countless times before. It wouldn't take much; if Ferrari manages to match that pace, Vettel is going to eat him alive. The German is a force to be reckoned with, whereas Hamilton is just a bit of a rogue—talented, sure, but still a rogue at heart.

And honestly, looking at why Lewis Hamilton was better than Nico Rosberg in Monaco—it's because unlike Rosberg, he relies entirely on his hands and feet while completely leaving his brain out of the equation...

Lewis Hamilton looks up to Ayrton Senna, so much so that just like his idol, he can show these incredible flashes of pure talent and raw speed—only to then totally mess it all up by failing to use his head...

graniteharbor502 said:You're definitely on the right track here. It seems pretty obvious they're terrified of Ferrari—which is exactly what's driving these frantic, last-minute decisions. If things keep going this way, we could actually be looking at a three-way battle for the championship all the way until the final race, unlike how everything played out last season.

Canada will be the real test

rowdyrider12 said:Kvyat let him past Ricci just so he could catch up to Raikkonen—basically a hedge in case Ricci ended up with a five-second penalty. Once they announced there was no penalty, Ricci just took the spot right back...

Actually, that's not quite it—they let him through to try and overtake Hamilton since they were running different strategies; once it became clear he couldn't make the move, Kvyat just gave the position back.
