Look, they definitely have the right to set the tempo—but they certainly don't have the right to just stop.

Man, what a race—absolute total chaos out there 🤣 🙏

If it were an issue with the brakes, I'm sure we'd already be hearing all about it.

Forget the brakes—it’s clearly a combination of a poor setup and running much harder compounds than they'd like.

I really think Max Verstappen is going to give Sergio Perez a run for his money.

I honestly think Pascal Wehrlein is the next Michael Schumacher. He managed to drag that absolute junk heap of a Sauber—even with last year's Ferrari Power Unit—straight into Qualifying 2.

The Honda situation is just pathetic at this point.

It’s such a shame to see Romain Grosjean like this; he’s clearly lost his edge and spends more time whining over the team radio than actually racing. It's just sad to watch.

Check out these numbers. It's pretty interesting how many miles each driver clocked during those pre-season Goodyear tests...
Sebastian Vettel
Kimi Räikkönen
Max Verstappen
Ricc
Lewis Hamilton

So now it’s a total mystery why some guys are suddenly having such a hard time with their tires, right?😁

And then he goes and blames everything else when he gets knocked out in Qualifying Round 2 🙂

A true NASCAR fan has never actually cared about parity—not really, and certainly not ever. What they care about is making sure their own team or driver is the one holding the trophy, rather than wanting every single team and driver to be neck-and-neck. 😁

A real NASCAR fan basically prays to God that the other teams struggle, though maybe not quite as badly as McLaren. 😁

Well, you simply don't understand just how little we actually care about that.

I don't root for Red Bull, and generally, they aren't my favorite team, but one thing I've learned over the last few seasons is that they always "find something" that others missed... most often right on the edge of legality... but as long as it works, it works, and they take the points...🙂
The latest example is this business with the "nearly active" suspension, which Ferrari, working with NASCAR, got banned this year...🙂
I suspect that, along with those minor power unit upgrades from Ford, that was the primary reason they were able to overtake Ferrari in the second half of the season...

Ferrari did that because their own suspension setup was pushing the limits. They just wanted to check things out before anyone else caught on.

northerncobra31 said:Yeah, Red Bull didn't actually overtake them; they were just 70 points ahead of Ferrari. Even if Ferrari had somehow managed those two imaginary wins, they still wouldn't have pulled ahead, but yeah, they haven't been surpassed.

And they haven't. It’s pretty simple—during the second half of the season, Ferrari completely shifted their focus toward making this year count. I mean, look at Sebastian Vettel; he's a completely different driver this year compared to last—night and day, really. Points alone don't tell the whole story; you really have to look at the race-by-race progression to actually analyze what's happening.

Red Bull wasn't actually faster during the race itself. But then again, a race is about more than just raw car speed—you have to know how to read between the lines.

And then they actually enter the development race—though honestly, it's anyone's guess if they can even pull this first one off before the season ends, let alone anything else...
There’s just no way Ferrari and Mercedes are going to sit around sleeping while Red Bull is breathing down their necks to catch up...

It’s just like last year—Red Bull started out trailing behind Ferrari, but then they went ahead and overtook them as the season rolled on... ☕

Where's this coming from? And honestly—what makes you so sure about that... 🙂
Ricciardo only managed to grab 5th place—and not just any 5th, but he was about 40 seconds behind the winner. Plus, he was trailing Kimi Räikkönen by some 20 seconds, and honestly, Kimi wasn't even really in the hunt for a podium spot...

Ricciardo... 🤦 What a joke of a driver...

Just look at Max... that guy is doing absolute magic... 😉

Are we really certain they're actually equal? I mean, I want to believe it, but I have my doubts. 🤣

It’s not that they actually overtook them on pure merit—to be honest, Ferrari’s strategic blunders were just catastrophic, and those mistakes likely cost them at least two wins over the course of the season. By the end of last year, things seemed pretty much even between the teams, but this year? Well, Ferrari is an absolute rocket compared to Red Bull Racing. At this point, Red Bull can only really put up a fight if they have a completely checked-out Kimi Räikkönen behind the wheel, and even then, it’s only during the opening phase of the race. Once the rhythm settles in, it’s all about Ferrari's superior race pace—which, even with Kimi's legendary napping tendencies, is enough to leave Red Bull in the dust.

Red Bull Racing is practically living on the podium right now

Honestly, if his brakes hadn't failed, Max Verstappen would've been on that podium in Bahrain.

You aren't kidding me.

I honestly can't help but roll my eyes at these journalists who just won't let the whole overtaking debate die.

Last year in Bahrain, we saw 50 overtakes—this year, there were only 14. If you ask me, which race was actually better? It’s pretty simple when you look at it that way.

It really isn't about the sheer quantity; it's all about the quality of the moves.

mellowtiger83 said:Because do you know why those tire tests were such a waste of time?

The reason Mercedes-Benz eats through tires is because they have minor issues with the rear end. That's it. They will likely fix it quickly if they haven't already during these current tests.

Lujo sees everything perfectly clearly, and I can already tell you think Vettel will be better this year even though the season hasn't properly kicked off yet. To my eyes, things look pretty even. It’s nice to spread optimism, but you're about 1 or 2 months too early.

Hamilton can tear up the USA all he wants, but that won't stop him from giving his absolute maximum and beating Sebastian Vettel.

To put it in the words of Sebastian Vettel—every single moment spent behind the wheel isn't a waste of time; it’s actually a chance to pick up something new. That's just how this guy operates. ☕

mellowtiger83 said:Hamilton is also a hard worker and knows every aspect of the car; in fact, the experts constantly praise him for being an incredibly high-quality development driver with excellent feedback.

Set aside Hamilton's private life; just because he is under the media spotlight doesn't mean it signifies anything of substance.

The whole Senna debate has been discussed for ages. Even if he outperformed Alain Prost in the same car, let's move past point-scoring pedantry and such nonsense. Prost could only have stayed ahead if Ayrton Senna had given up, which happened in very few instances. And no, this isn't myth-making, at least not from my perspective, as I was a supporter of Prost.

Vettel as a tactician? Vettel being exceptionally clever? I could provide twenty or thirty examples to debunk that. Vettel is just as raw as Hamilton and isn't even slightly more calculating than him, nor is he any calmer.

Let me enlighten you with one simple fact. We can clearly see that Mercedes-Benz absolutely devours their tires, whereas Ferrari manages them much better—which gives them a massive advantage during race conditions. Back in 2016, while Vettel was busy doing all those Pirelli tests, Hamilton was out there tearing up the tracks across America.

https://www.motorsport.com/f1/news/h...y-time-890111/

Lujo says that tire testing feels like a total waste of his time. ☕

Vettel realizes that his 2017 season actually started last year, but apparently, Lujo still hasn't quite wrapped his head around that.
Case closed.

mellowtiger83 said:So, you're saying Hamilton is a superior driver to Vettel?

I have to disagree. Senna and Prost were complete opposites. Hamilton and Vettel, however, share a lot of common ground. Vettel is many things, but he simply isn't a tactical strategist in the vein of Prost.

Since when did the idea of Senna being better than Prost lead you to that specific conclusion about Hamilton?

We’ll just have to wait and see throughout the season who plays the tactician and who doesn't—we'll see how things unfold, assuming Mercedes-Benz and Ferrari stay neck-and-neck. And if Red Bull Racing decides to join the fray too, well, things are going to get interesting!

Personally, I'm mostly just looking forward to this season; we finally have a genuine fight on our hands. It feels like it's been years since we've seen anything like this.

In my view, Hamilton and Vettel aren't really similar at all. Vettel is such a hard worker—the guy knows almost every single technical aspect of his car, shows up for every single test, stays away from the media spotlight, and so on and so forth.

Hamilton on the other hand...
