Psychotropic medication discussion thread in Psychology & Therapy ·
Hey everyone, I wanted to pull all our discussions about psychotropic medications into one dedicated thread. I’d really love for this space to be used primarily by folks who actually know their stuff—whether that's through professional training or just years of navigating these meds personally.

I think it would be incredibly helpful if we could pool our experiences, observations, and actual scientific findings here. That way, all this valuable "intel" doesn't get scattered across dozens of different threads where good advice gets buried—you know how it goes, most topics get pushed to page two so fast you can barely find them.

Since I'm kicking this off, I can definitely offer some guidance—I have a background in pharmacology and related fields, so to speak—and I genuinely want to help out. However, I'd really prefer not to get flooded with a mountain of private messages where half the problems can't even be solved through a screen anyway.

Thanks, and please, don't be shy about sharing what you know! 👍
How to make an Audio DVD? in Software ·
Since you don't have Nero, here's what I've got instead:

IMAGE, but honestly, I’m still not quite following what's tripping you up.

Look, if you've already ripped the music onto a disc in an audio format, you can just burn it to a DVD—exactly like you would with a CD 🙂—and then play it back on whatever device you feel like using.

The latest situation:
velvetranger5 asked where the Jews in Medina were during Muhammad's time, and my answer was:

Back then, three Jewish tribes lived in Yathrib (which was later renamed Medina); the Banu Nadir, the Banu Quariza, and the Banu Qainuga.
In 624, the Banu Nadir and Banu Qainuga tribes were forced to relocate to the Khaybar oasis.
In 627, when the Meccans (specifically the Quraysh tribe, which included Muhammad) laid siege to Medina, the Banu Quariza refused to help defend the city during the "Battle of the Trench." Following the battle, Muslims massacred all the men, and over 1,000 women and children were sold into slavery.

Then Jeffrey Sanchez7 chimed in with something like... "The Jews stabbed him (Muhammad) in the back, and now I'm being called a liar." $33 within the thread

And that's because the post sat there all day!!! So my response was:

I mean... they stabbed him in the back? How exactly did that "stabbing" look?

The issue was actually quite different. When Muhammad arrived in Medina in 622, he had nothing, so he and his followers survived by raiding caravans. The Banu Quariza clearly wasn't having any part of that, so they didn't feel bound by the Constitution of Medina.

Jeffrey Sanchez7,
I’d suggest sticking to actual historical facts.
If anyone else had used the word "Jew" in that context, rowdyhawk10 would have banned them for life.
Am I really $33 starting a whole new thread just for this little argument? 🤣 😁

Well, rowdyhawk10 went ahead and deleted everything right then!
Why? Because once Muslims run out of arguments, rowdyhawk10 steps in to scrub the evidence. It's been happening constantly over the last few weeks.
Muslims have already driven all the Jews out of the Religion sub-forum, and honestly, they were some of the best debaters we had.

rowdyhawk10 needs to be removed ASAP.

What kind of conversation is even this? 😠

Honestly, I’d just leave you out in the sun for seven days straight if I could. 😠

Running really helps clear the head—trust me on that one.

Honestly, you guys are getting seriously tedious with all these constant demands about shift changes.

Seriously—just go find a girlfriend or a boyfriend, go out for a run, or maybe just call some friends over for a coffee or a beer... I honestly can't wrap my head around what YOUR actual problem is!? 🤔
Sophia Gonzalez66 said:Interesting suggestion, but if you’re asking me, I’d tweak things a bit...

I’d stretch the mod rotation period to at least 6 months instead of 3... because like someone else already mentioned on this thread, it would just be pure chaos. Every single sub-forum would just be stuck in a loop of voting for mods. Then, right when everyone finally picks someone and those threads get cleared out, we'd be back to square one with a new election. 3 months feels way too short—it’ll fly by before you even know what hit you. And obviously, if a newly elected mod turns out to be useless, there should be a way to pull them and move to the runner-up or whatever...

...I also still think giving regular users 100% control over the whole site is a bad move. Like someone else pointed out here, people usually just vote for whoever they hang out with most in that specific section or the person who posts the most. That doesn't mean they actually know their stuff or provide the best answers. In my opinion, after the vote is in, the admins and senior mods should review everything. They should check the user's post history to make sure they actually know what they're talking about before making the final call...

...My idea? We do a massive sweep at the start. Put all current mods to a vote to see who stays and who goes. Meanwhile, we'd have to block mods from sending PMs to prevent them from swaying votes. I’d be down to coordinate that with Kenneth Peterson5

...Just my two cents, though. Not trying to start anything or take sides...

Right; the whole thing could just be called "enjoy yourselves, you monkeys."

So, what you're saying is everyone on the forum should just drop everything to focus on electing and re-electing moderators!?

Oh, please. 🤣

If you actually know something about a specific topic, then go find a sub-forum where you can actually be useful and help someone out—don't just sit here wasting everyone's time.

😵
Kenneth Peterson5, I’ve been following your posts for a few days now because you’re actually an interesting person to read, but there is something I’m struggling to wrap my head around;

if you’re standing so firmly by your stance on intelligence in your "recent" posts—and look, I get where you're coming from—do you honestly think it’s okay for an intelligent, engaging, witty person, someone who is generally well-liked by the moderators and the rest of the community here, to snap at an "average" user and tell them to "eat shit monkey retarded" or scream some profanity about their mother's stupidity in a fit of rage? (Which, let's be honest, is sometimes hard to distinguish from just being a jerk)

Look, I get humor. I get sarcasm and all those other stylistic flourishes, and I even understand being pissed off—trust me, I’ve never handed out a ban myself—but when someone repeats the same insult five times in a row, like Cp.Tar or that guy using the alias steelskipper5, then I lose my cool, and yeah, I have to issue a strike.

Honestly, I think you would be incredibly strict—maybe even tougher than any of the moderators on this American forum—but God hasn't given you the chance yet, so don't feel bad about it.

Believe me, this is a hell of a job, and it's not something just anyone can handle—not because of a lack of intelligence, but because of what's... well, "missing" in a healthy brain.😉
boldhound8 said:I heard they're looking for people over on Teens😁

jude, beasts, or monsters 🤣 🤣

Yeah, I suppose I could... honestly, the older I get, the more infantile I seem to become—it's just how it goes, I guess. ☕
Nicole James said:Did I create a sub-forum? You’re giving me way too much credit here 🙂

As moderators, we just try to maintain a bit of balance—it's really the users who sit on the ends of the seesaw, pulling everything up and down...

Well, you were there the longest—and honestly, I guess you were pretty tough on us when you were running the show. 😉
Look, us moderators—we’re really just here to maintain a bit of balance, I guess. We aren't the ones driving the bus; it's the users themselves who are constantly teetering on the edges of the seesaw, pulling everything up and down...

Oh, please—give me a break. Honestly, I think some people are just bitter because they aren't the ones holding the moderator keys. It’s almost pathetic, really—though maybe I’m being too harsh? I don't know. But yeah, it seems like a huge chunk of them are just throwing fits because they didn't get the power trip they were craving. Typical. 😍
Andrew Sanchez572 said:Shady, crimsonhound80 used to be a moderator for the Religion section 😲

I definitely have a bit of a phobia regarding normal people 🙂

(I mean, whose perverse idea was that 😁)

And why on earth would you—man (or girl, honestly, who knows anymore)—🤔 want me to be a moderator!?

I've actually been thinking lately about what role I should take on—mostly because I'm bored, let's be real—and I do quite enjoy banning troublemakers like you 🙂
Nicole James said:Says the guy who became the moderator for Religion and then just... vanished. 🙂

Look, I wasn't trying to argue with you—really, I wasn't—but you basically gave those guys over at PZ a free pass to go absolutely wild on peaceful believers (and by that, I mean people who aren't Aganor or whatever else).

Anyway, you're the one who set up that sub-forum in the first place. I could just sense it—it's like an instinct, I guess—that you weren't going to listen to me, so I just quietly stepped back, behaving like a decent Christian, and let those young hooligans have their way. 😢
🤣 🤣

Kenneth Peterson5, you're honestly the best—I mean, how do you even do it? 🤣 though I have to say, I partially agree with you regarding Religion; there's just no Brezovka, no little bird, not even any Labelline left...:šmrc:
I’d like to add a little something to the proposal:

I honestly think the moderators should pick two users every three months for a preemptive permanent ban—just a proactive measure, really—because, let’s face it, there are just way too many obnoxious, malicious, and frankly psychopathically structured low-life personalities lurking around here. I truly believe my suggestion would actually bear fruit; in fact, I suspect the whole community would become significantly higher quality if we just cleared out the trash once in a while.
User dossiers? Does this forum have its own CIA and FBI? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
If my memory serves me right—and I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure—about 99% of what goes into those user notes is just tracking down improper signatures. So, if someone pulls another botched signature, they’re basically asking to have their file flagged much more "seriously" next time.

As far as I'm concerned, the UN is just some redundant extra layer that doesn't really need to be there.

Everything is laid out clearly enough in the filing section anyway, so there aren't really any big secrets being kept from us.
Adobe Audition - Thoughts? in Software ·
Look, let’s just set the record straight once and for all!

If a song was recorded using 128 different tracks, the final mastering stage boils everything down to two—left and right—which makes it a stereo file. That is how pretty much every professional recording studio in the US operates.

It’s actually quite straightforward; all those theoretical 128 instruments plus the vocals get baked together into a 2-channel audio format. There isn't a single piece of software on this entire planet that can take a finished audio file or an MP3 and magically split it back out into individual instruments or vocal stems.

I know there are certain commercial plugins out there that advertise themselves with a ton of hype to justify their price tags, but for the exact reason I just mentioned, none of them can accurately isolate a vocal from the backing track.

The only way you’re getting that level of control is if you actually get your hands on the MIDI data or the unmastered multitracks—otherwise, it's a lost cause, forever.
The Frog and the Scorpion in Psychology ·
What’s with all this nationalist nonsense Scorpion 🙄

In America, people call it a Scorpion—but honestly, let's just ignore the complete lack of grammatical sense here. I happen to be a Scorpion myself, and frankly, I can't stand slimy creatures... which includes frogs. I’d never trust a frog with my life; they're just fundamentally untrustworthy little things 😠
Look, it’s not some illegal substance—lithium carbonate is a perfectly legitimate prescription medication. It’s most commonly prescribed for managing manic depression, though I suppose doctors sometimes toss it into the mix for other types of anxiety and depressive disorders too.

Anyway, it’s a seriously "heavy-duty" psychotropic drug, if you want to call it that. 😉

As for the actual topic at hand—it's honestly a total non-sequitur to suggest that dietary supplements, like vitamins, could somehow harm someone who is currently on antidepressants.

(honestly, the way people just toss around etiquette and behavioral patterns without a second thought is... well, it's fascinating, I guess)

Dammit 😁, if we can't even use basic forum rules as some kind of standard, then what's the point of this whole thread? Is that the goal here—just to wreck everything? 🤷

I really wish the regular users would actually step up and suggest some real consequences—you know, warnings, bans, whatever else works.

From what I can see, it seems like certain people just have this desperate need to be the center of attention—it's nothing but non-stop complaining.

God, don't you people ever get tired of yourselves? 😂

Kevin Mitchell said:Look, it’s not even about the warnings themselves. My ban expired, so honestly, I couldn't care less.

But it's actually about this:

It’s just—they look at me like I’m some model user, yet I keep getting flagged for things I didn't even do. Then those marks just pile up, and I can't even argue my case because they immediately write me off as some "provocateur."

Do you really think you're some special snowflake who needs a private audience to discuss your issues? 😁

For example, I got hit with a warning labeled "violating sub-forum rules."

http://www.reddit.com/showpost.php?p=1...2&postcount=20

I went through the rulebook line by line, and I couldn't find a single thing I actually broke. Then there's the justification for the flag:

I even asked under the "Legal" section if I had violated any actual laws. It looks like I haven't (though I'm still waiting on final confirmation).
Is anyone going to go back and ERASE that mark or APOLOGIZE to me for being banned? Of course not. They're fine with handing out penalties, but when it comes to explaining them:

Basically, while I'm under a ban, I'm silenced—I can't point out an injustice until after I've been punished and everything has already blown over.

When I finally managed to convince "the higher-ups" to strip away 200 points (which were totally unfair) from another thread, they had to issue a warning just to "teach me a lesson"—moving me up from a mere 45-point penalty.
Just imagine the scenario: I say, "The Crusaders sacked San Diego," and provide all the links to prove it. Someone else replies, "The Crusades always benefited Americans." So I respond, "You're either ignorant or lying" (since I provided historical facts and didn't even need to mention the people burned at the stake, etc.). Is that an insult?
I looked at the sub-forum rules they posted. The definition of trolling is... "If you start responding to a post with 'I can't believe...', 'Are you kidding me...', or something similar, then you're done..." If what I responded to wasn't trolling, then it isn't anything.

The moderator handed you a penalty you earned, and I don't get why you're struggling to see that. 🤷
On the flip side, people provoke, they spit venom, they start hurling insults out of nowhere, and even when I report them, absolutely nothing happens...🤷
There's something rotten in the heart of this American forum.👎

Look, let me try to ease your mind a bit (if necessary)—being a moderator is tough. You have to hand out penalties (believe me, you have to) and you have to deal with all the crap the regular users 😁 throw at you.

God forbid you actually become a moderator for even two months just to see how much of a headache it really is. 😁

Proposal to abolish PDF PŽK in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Honestly, I would have shut this whole thread down ages ago because, let’s face it, nothing ever actually gets resolved here anyway. 😉

The whole FBI concept was basically designed as a place to blow off some steam—kind of like hitting a gym session—rather than a venue for reaching any kind of civilized consensus.
The way our local FBI operates... well, I guess you could call it a masterpiece by Sigmund Freud. 😂

That’s why I’m all for the FBI, though I won't be casting a vote myself since the questions are just a little bit bizarre. 🤣
