Look, you can believe whatever helps you sleep at night, but if we're being real, our people have mostly been out there causing trouble, acting purely out of self-interest.

We're talking the 19th century here...
(The Portuguese were around in the 15th, sure, but most of the heavy lifting happened after 1800.)
Honestly, Africa is still living in the Stone Age today ☕
if you actually sit down and weigh all the good versus the bad that those colonizers brought to the table—in my opinion, the "bad" side wins by about 1500%.
At the end of the day, just look at where all that massive wealth and those stunning buildings in New York City, Paris, and Los Angeles actually came from... ☕ I’m telling you, screw them, they should have just moved all of Africa and India right over here. 👍
Honestly, if we started complaining about foreign labor taking jobs—at least in Western nations—we’d just be being total hypocrites.
I mean, seriously, have people even stopped to think about why places like Spain, England, or France (...) are so incredibly wealthy today? It's kind of hard to ignore when you look at the big picture.
History has a funny way of circling back around eventually. ☕

Chaos on Brest Street!

Honestly, if you ask me, only the first one really hits the mark, whereas Freddy Vs Jason feels way more like a total horror-comedy—and I don't mean that as a compliment...

Alright, I've joined the thread—fair enough. But look, setting aside the acting, the special effects, the soundtrack, or even just the glaring plot holes... the actual ending and how everything ties together? Honestly, every single aspect of this movie deserves nothing but the absolute bottom of the barrel. It’s so incredibly bad that you can't even sit there and laugh at it; it's just painful.

Just wanted to check in and see if anyone else actually sat through this absolute train wreck of a movie... I honestly can't wrap my head around how it managed to snag a 4/10 on IMDb. It’s seriously bad news, like, don't even think about watching it, even if you're just bored on a Sunday night!
For me, this was hands down one of the worst things I've ever wasted my time on. The acting was totally wooden, the plot was super uninspired and felt like something we've seen a million times before, and the special effects were just straight-up cringey. There was zero payoff at the end, just nothing. Seriously, it was just awful... 👎
ps. Why does this even deserve its own thread? It really doesn't, but I figured I'd throw out a quick warning so none of you guys make the same mistake I did. 😉

Kyle Evans74 said:Sure, whatever's happening on the other side of the Mirror is one thing... but honestly, who cares what he can do there? The point is he’s trapped now. He'll stay stuck there until someone decides to break him out and take his place, just like how he did that whole thing with the nun...
Hmm, I gotta say, it feels like even the writers were totally winging it at the end. It's like they just went with the old "let's throw in a massive wauu effect and hope it sticks" strategy. Personally? It didn't work for me. There's this other flick with a pretty similar vibe—I think it was Premonition—which is about the same level of quality, maybe even a little more of a slog to get through. Both of them are sitting at a solid 6/10 for me.

I’m totally lost here... like, what am I even looking at? Is he actually inside the mirror? How does that even work? And what happens now... can he actually reach out and touch stuff? If he can't, is he just some kind of ghost? And why is everyone else acting like nothing is happening? Like, how do they not see him? wtf?
The Descent: Part 2 (2009)

I mean, honestly, I’m totally down to watch it regardless. Even if the plot has some major holes or stuff doesn't quite add up, it won't really bother me as long as they manage to nail that same vibe again... And hey, this time around, I'm really crossing my fingers for a happy end. 😁
[Rec] 2 (2009)

But honestly, what’s even the point of starting a whole new thread when there’s basically zero actual info out there about a sequel? You could've just easily dropped this into the existing unit discussion thread... 🤷
Can someone please break it down for me—what was actually so special about the first Donnie Darko movie?? 🤷
Anyone else struggle with long movies?

Most of the time, yeah, totally—but honestly, there are definitely some franchises where I wish they’d just stretch things out way longer, you know? Like, I’d love for them to have enough juice to spin off five different mini-series from a single concept... Take something like *Aliens*, for instance. 🙂

Honestly, I have to wonder what kind of mental lapse leads someone to lose their cool, shout something ridiculous, and then actually swing a shoe at one of the most powerful and highly protected leaders on the planet...
The big question remains: will they let him go, or is he headed straight for... 🙂
probably just hang him, since he didn't manage to land a hit 😁
Saw IV

Amanda Nguyen5 said:Since there isn't much of a discussion going on, I’ll just keep this brief since I just got back from the theater screening.
Visually, the movie is an absolute assault on the eyes, and the sound design? Not great either. There’s way too much plot happening, which is totally unnecessary for a genre like this. The acting is just bad—super over-the-top—with everyone being terrible except for Jigsaw. Honestly, the only thing worth watching is when Jigsaw shows up and that whole aura he carries, though even that starts to feel a bit thin every time he reappears.
That opening puzzle was brilliant. There are a few other decent ones scattered in there, but most of them are just plain awful.
It’s a real shame, really. Saw I left such a massive impression on me, but everything following it just keeps dragging the franchise down. I remember Saw II being worse than the first, then Saw III felt a little better than the second but still didn't touch the original, and now Saw IV has completely ruined the whole vibe.
I’m telling you again, it’s such a bummer because Saw I really hit home for me.
On a different note, Jigsaw's wife looked great. I have no idea how old she is or who she even is, but man, the camera angles definitely did her assets justice.
Is that your expert professional critique or... ☕
Oh, come on, please define "good acting" for me! You know, like those times you see someone like J. Lo where the acting feels about as deep as a puddle, or those actors who clearly view this as just a paycheck, but these guys? All of them fall right into that middle ground of being just okay or mediocre. 😛
And Saw IV didn't ruin everything; it just laid it all out for us (though, man, I really hope the sixth one is the last one planned.😁 )
So yeah... what a mess.

😕 Man, I’m totally lost here... at the start of the movie, they find a tape left behind by Jigsaw, right? But then, during that final scene where the cop walks into the room where Amanda and that wife—you know the one—were hanging out, Jigsaw is just lying there dead, exactly like he was in the third movie... I don't get it, maybe I'm just tripping and missed something 🤷
