A TN panel isn't going to cut it for what you're doing (video/photo editing). You’ll run into issues with inaccurate color reproduction, terrible viewing angles, and constant gamma shifts... You really need an IPS or PLS panel instead.

Also, if you ask me, a 28" screen is just too small for 4K resolution; those tiny icons in design software might end up being a real pain to work with.

That’s fine, provided you only plan on running it this way for a short while before eventually swapping out both the GPU and the entire platform.

You guys need to get on the same page 😁

Regardless of the GPU or resolution you're aiming for, if you plan on keeping this rig for a while, I’d personally lean toward an i7. If the price gap isn't breaking the bank, it's definitely worth grabbing the opportunity.

Look, their turn will come eventually...

But if you're planning to keep this PC running long-term, you’re better off grabbing an 8GB stick of DDR3 since you've only got two slots to work with. Even brand-new DDR3 is dirt cheap these days.

As for the motherboard—back when the i7 was the cutting edge, pairing it with an H81 would have been a total mismatch (like putting a $833 engine in a $133 chassis). But nowadays? YOLO. It’s a completely different story when you're just working with what you've already got for an upgrade. If the CPU is on the support list, you're good to go. Besides, you won't be overclocking it anyway.

It’s likely because it's a newer socket, but if you ask me, those should be sitting right around $500-$200 i5-level, nothing higher. It would be about time they released those too.

Honestly, though, you might be better off aiming for an i7 to really future-proof your setup.

Have you been browsing AliExpress lately to see if there's anything worth picking up on a budget?

You can definitely find a better deal today. Honestly, you don't even need a warranty on a CPU since they rarely ever fail.

You should be getting a cooler included with the processor, and hopefully you won't have to deal with your current one, buddy. As for the power supply, it’s plenty—no need to change anything there.

Swap out the HDD for a 500GB SSD instead, and if you really want that tempered glass look for the case, it’s an easy click:

1 x ASRock AB350 PRO4, AM4
1 x Intel Core I5 8400 MSI video card GeForce GTX 1060 GDDR5 6GB/192bit, ARMOR
1 x Fortron napajanje Hexa 85+ 550W, 80+ Bronze, ATX
1 x Patriot Elite DDR4, 2666Mhz, 16GB, CL16
1 x CRUCIAL MX500 500GB SSD, 2.5” 7mm (with 9.5mm adapter), SATA 6 Gbit/s, Read/Write: 560 MB/s / 510 MB/s, Random Read/Write IOPS 95K/90K
1 x MS SPECTRUM PRO gaming midi tower kućište

Total: $2848

I didn't include a soldering iron—partly to keep the budget tight, and partly because its utility here is questionable.

The GTX 1060 6gb is definitely the better pick (unless you stumble upon a killer used deal, like a gtx 970 with $433, or maybe pay a bit more if it comes with a warranty). Before the GPU mining craze, these were going for up to 2500/$867, but now you're "only" overpaying by about $167, which isn't actually terrible given the current market where graphics cards have spiked by 40% to 100%.

That RAM isn't meant for a desktop PC.

LC Power is actually including the AM4 bracket, so you're all set on the cooling side (you can probably find more specifics on their official website)

Note AM4 sockets:
Mounting hardware for AM4 sockets is currently available at no extra cost!
Please reach out to our support team at service@lc-power.com.

I’m looking to sell just the CPU and the motherboard. For the CPU, maybe $350$133 tops—the real headache is finding a new G4560 since it's basically identical to the $150 newer model—and for the motherboard, maybe $67
.
Anyway, there are several ITX AM4 boards out there right now, so you shouldn't run into any issues searching for one.

I had no idea that Acer was being just as stingy with the specs; I was relying entirely on that list

Besides, some i7 processors are only 2c4t, and she didn't specify which exact model we're talking about here

That one works too, though this version uses a 7200U processor, which might be a bit more efficient:

In our real-world Wi-Fi test—simulating typical daily usage like web browsing with the power plan set to “Balanced” and brightness held at a steady 150 nits—the Aspire clocked in at 8:37 hours. We saw a slight dip during our video playback test, where we looped the short film Big Buck Bunny (H.264, full HD 1920 x1080 resolution) with all wireless connections turned off, the power plan switched to “Energy Saver”, and brightness again set to 150 nits. The Devica powered OFF after 8:14 Hours.

That’s right.

I’m not entirely positive if this is the exact Acer from the list, though it does have E5-575 in the name. I can't tell if it's an E 15 like the one listed, since I see some models labeled as ES 15 for these E5-575 laptops. However, in this case, it lasts about 7.5 hours just browsing the web, so it's definitely a solid contender among budget models. Obviously, watching movies—and especially gaming—would drain the battery even faster.

These Acer models might be budget-friendly, but honestly, it doesn't make much sense to you. You're essentially looking at a sidegrade, if not a straight-up downgrade, since this one sits in a lower class than the ASUS N series. If battery life is truly that big of a deal for you, you'd be better off just buying a second battery and swapping them out as needed.
Looking for something durable in Laptops ·
Link, link 2

Just plug the model name into Amazon. Most of what you'll find are 13.3" or 14" models, though there are some 15.6" options available too.

Regarding that $3,000 budget you mentioned—$1167

As for your battery life concerns, it’s actually pretty standard; it really just depends on your workload. You might want to check out this thread for more context: click

Drop a link for a new 1155 build, but please, nothing from some random Chinese generic brand

EDIT

Found an i5 3330 for $100 on eBay
ASRock FM2A88X Extreme4+ in Desktops ·
You won't find any of these new in stores anymore, and most people looking for used gear are hunting for $100. To give you an idea, here are the cheapest H61 boards I could find on eBay right now—take a look and see which one catches your eye:

That’s why I always say your best bet is stumbling upon a cheap bundle. Your second option is ordering from China, especially since you can save a massive amount on the CPU. If someone manages to snag an i5 for $133 and they already have DDR3 RAM sitting around, it honestly makes more sense to just grab the parts from China instead.
