I didn't get a chance to ask, though—what else are you running in that build? I guess I just hope the rest of your setup is beefy enough to actually keep up with the GPU. 😉
Delta might actually be one of the most elite OEMs on the planet when it comes to power supplies; I highly doubt their quality is anything less than top-tier.
There’s probably a 99% chance we won't see anything lower than a GTX 950 or a GTX 1050 on the spec sheets.
The XFX R7 250 DDR5 is passive (around $217), but it's out of stock right now at places like Best Buy or Walmart, so who knows if they'll ever get more.
I’d honestly go with the i7 5820K, an EVGA GTX 1070 FTW, and 16GB of RAM... I don't think I'd drop $733 just to squeeze out a 20% boost in FPS, especially if you're sticking to a 1080p monitor.
Heh, you were being pretty specific about the i5 2400. And then you mentioned wanting to see exactly where a processor like an i5 2400 would significantly bottleneck a high-end card 😬
It doesn't really make sense to settle for an H170 board when it's only about $300... I'd say just grab the Z170 instead; it’s barely any more expensive:
Maybe you could save a few hundred bucks and just grab the MSI MPG Z790 instead. It supports up to 3800MHz, so it's still top-tier for overclocking and has basically every connector you could ever need. I’d probably just go with 3000MHz RAM too, since they’re $50 cheaper anyway, and honestly, I don't think you'll notice any real difference.
