A few more things should be shifting around by October 10th... hopefully, GPU prices and availability will finally stabilize by then.
The build looks solid... though if you aren't sitting super close to your screen, maybe consider an LG 29 UM58-P or a 29UM68-P with that 21:9 aspect ratio. They're about $100 more, but I guess you could probably trim some costs elsewhere in the rig to make up the difference.
You might be able to get Forza Motorsport running at 720p on medium-high settings (assuming you turn off HDR, AA, and shadows/reflections), but multiplayer is going to absolutely murder your CPU 😁—I’d say it'll probably peg it at 100% once you have more than 10 drivers on track.
iRacing should run just fine at 1080p on Medium. I don't personally own the game, but based on what other people I know are saying, it isn't quite that demanding.
That bundle seems a bit off to me, maybe around $1267 if I recall correctly. I actually put together a similar build for $1300 using 3000MHz memory. It probably should be a little cheaper than that...
Are you based in the United States? There are definitely shops out there with better deals than Amazon if you want to try building something a bit more high-end.
So, what's the final budget looking like—maybe $950? 😬
I think the processor is the main bottleneck here; it's just a single core, so it gets overwhelmed instantly even with basic tasks. If you happen to know the specific model of that HP machine, we could check which multi-core processors it actually supports—you can usually find used dual or quad-core chips pretty cheap online.
A lot is going to shift with graphics cards over the next couple of months... the first one is cheaper since it uses a reference cooler, whereas the second one is way too pricey because ASUS 😬 ...is just massively overpriced.
To me, the Palit Super Jetstream ($350) makes the most sense.
Not really, you'd end up with way less performance for just a tiny bit of savings. In other words, I guess this combo has a really high value-to-performance ratio.
I second everything said above... though I have to admit, having an R7 260 x in this setup is a bit of a headache, I guess. $150 It's definitely cheaper, and I guess you aren't seeing a massive jump over the GTX950—maybe around 30% at most. As for gaming performance:
I can't really watch videos directly through this interface, but if you drop a summary or some details about what happens in the clip, I'd be happy to take a look at it and give you my thoughts. Maybe I'll have something useful to add once I know what we're talking about. I guess this video covers some interesting ground regarding hardware limitations. It seems like there might be more to the story than what's being shown on screen, maybe.
Turn down the volume. 😁)
I guess I should probably just stay quiet for now. Maybe. $150 Maybe you could drop the price a bit lower? $1000 Including the CPU cooler, too.
I think I might have one Nvidia GeForce GT 730 240GB SSD lying around somewhere. I've got one ASROCK H110M-ITX/ac motherboard on hand. It's an Intel B150 chipset, runs DDR4, and features standard audio, SATA, Gigabit LAN, and PCI-E 3.0. Comes with DVI, HDMI, and USB 3.0 ports—a classic mITX build with an LGA 1151 socket, I guess. Just picked up an Intel Core i3-6100 desktop processor (3.7GHz, 3MB, LGA1151) in the retail box. Just one stick of Kingston DDR4 2133MHz, CL15, 4GB. I've got one black Corsair Airflow Series case up for grabs, though it doesn't come with a power supply. Just one Fortron Hexa+ 400W, 80+.
Total: $1013 I guess I’m just here to help out with Futura-IT.

How many drives are we talking about? The board has 4xSATA ports, so just to make sure there's enough room... I don't really see the point in pricing the monitor $667 for a 24" IPS unless it's somehow incredible. This one is $533 and I doubt there's much of a practical difference.
$400 he still has it, but without a GPU, he'll just be left with $467 plus a much better power supply and case. That doesn't really matter since he isn't buying anything for a month or two anyway.
