You guys are hilarious... Honestly, we’re just making fun of you, that’s all... 🙂

Is that really such a hard question to answer? 😁 When I study, I’m glued to my computer... 😁 And look, I’m not one of those types who just buries their head in a desk studying 24/7... Besides, why do you even care how I do things?

Anyway, YES, I do put in 10-hour days... That's basically what I do every single day—stuck at the PC and hanging out on this forum... 🙂🤣😍

Ego? Not sure what ego has to do with any of this... 😁

If that's the case, believers believe... Everyone else is just full of crap!

Can't you wrap your head around it? It's just because I am, you are, and we all are in this life—simple as that... 🙂

Here's a "bonus question" for you: Why are you being so incredibly grumpy? Maybe take a breather? 😂

And here's your "bonus ANSWER": Yeah, Jesus was waiting specifically for ME to be born... 😂 😂

But whatever—you’re all just helping pad the statistics that prove how mentally incapable you really are...

Look, it's impossible to explain things to people like you. You're so stubborn and rude that even if someone handed you the ultimate proof, you'd probably just spit on it... It's pathetic, honestly. Not exactly how people who act so superior should behave...

See, that's when a smarter person realizes it's better to just let people like that struggle in their own ignorance—letting them keep talking nonsense about fairy tales and showing off how flawed and clumsy their own logic is...

Oh, please, spare me the lecture...! A link from some random forum doesn't exactly inspire me, much like your "logic"... 😂 🤣

You think so...? Personally, I think you're just talking to hear yourself speak. If you came here just to lecture me, then walk away—we aren't here to bicker, we're here to help people... If you have an issue with what I'm saying, then take it up with me PERSONALLY instead of trying to play teacher...

On the other hand—more or less—I spend 3 or 4 hours a day studying alongside this forum, so my GPA is sitting pretty at a 4.0 right now...

Ugh, now 🙂 I'm actually getting a headache from this pointless arguing... If you've got something smart to say, say it. If not, stay away from me, okay?

At least he cheers people up, brings gifts, and actually has a signature style...

And you guys? You're all just a total 🙂 who doesn't know anything besides how to talk trash...

I've said my piece, and now, I'm out of this thread, which can be: [closed]

goodbye, Santa Claus... 😂

Do you actually grasp any of this—or does knowledge just mean nothing to you unless you can physically grab it?
...
Everyone needs to grow up a little—seriously, stop acting like a bunch of unruly toddlers... damn.

It seems to me you have absolutely no clue what you're talking about...

You’re just rattling off points to sound smart, when in reality, you don't have a clue what the subject even is...

Typical atheist logic, I guess...!

Haha, listen, maybe that's the point. Maybe everyone interprets things differently because people digest KNOWLEDGE in their own way—they aren't just circling like vultures, picking at weak spots just to scavenge... 😁😁😁

Fine, whatever, I won't hold your rambling against you... 😉

Well, since everyone is speculating, why shouldn't I generalize?...
We stick to our guns—we don't go out of our way to trash anyone who isn't doing anything. But when we get attacked? Yeah, we're going to defend ourselves... 😉
...
Fine, maybe I'll make a picture book for those of you struggling to keep up—hopefully, then it'll finally click... 😂

...
But hey, laugh all you want, just don't aim it at me—aim it at yourselves...

All you do in life comes back to you...

So, go ahead—keep living in your delusions and ignorance.

The following quotes are commentary.
The prize question is—what is the main theme (or themes) being discussed here?
We can work out the prize details privately—just don't use the search function.
Most of these posts are direct excerpts—they make up the bulk of Henry Kim3's body of work regarding religion.

Henry Kim3 said:No, rather we’ve concluded that you aren't even worthy of this debate, and frankly, you just don't get certain things... ☕

Well, when THAT is the core argument, everything else after it is just noise...

I’m hoping the MODS lock this thread soon—it's become pointless.

A textbook case of logic clearly not being your strong suit...

I tried stepping back and taking the scientific angle, but that didn't fly either—so please, stop throwing scientific facts at me; it's just not working for you... 😉

Ha ha... Sure, if you want to call it that... 😁 😂

The old hens have finally gathered to chirp about nothing... 😂

Henry Kim3
you and your comments aren't even being consistent with that...[/quote
says:
Isn't that plural? 🤔

You've basically just confirmed that debating people like you is an insult to my time... 🙂

goodbye...!

Quote:
Look, I’m pretty selective about who I actually engage with... Some people just make it impossible not to chime in—and you and your comments? You aren't exactly following that rule...
🙂
It’s honestly exhausting... Trying to debate you guys is like trying to argue with a group of toddlers who haven't even learned the truth from fiction yet...!
...
But since this conversation isn't going anywhere except toward more nonsense and wishful thinking, I’ll leave you to your own little logic and imagination. Go ahead—have fun with it...

goodbye... 😉

Baphomet is spot on here.
The whole mechanistic worldview—which basically anchors that initial post—is long gone (just look at quantum physics),
so that idea of total determinism, at least how it was framed in the intro, just doesn't hold water.

PS
That’s one thing, but then there’s the whole issue of things being "set" by karma.
Honestly, I don't think anyone has actually cracked the code on free will yet. Those secular takes based on recent neurobiology—claiming the brain decides before "we" even realize it—aren't enough to prove we lack freedom. On the flip side, the whole "we’re spiritual beings, therefore we're totally free" argument is equally flimsy.
In my book, different people are just... differently free, depending on where they stand.

Also, quick question—does that rainbow moderator avatar imply they're gay? I don't recognize the handle, so I can't say for sure. If it does, this feels a lot like what happened when casualtiger2 lost their mod status—using their power to scrub anyone with a different opinion just because they were posting about their religious group.

Is it just old age, or am I losing my mind, but bluemason3 is flat-out wrong here.
The admin team actually asked me to stay (I can forward you the email if you want), but I stepped down because of real-life stuff—you can see the details on page 17 of the mod thread I started, titled "New Mod for Spiritually Focused PDF."
As for the claim that I "used my powers to delete dissenters without cause"—that’s just pure projection on your part. Same goes for your stubborn, mindless insistence that Komaja is a "religious group" (if it actually is one, just tell me what faith they follow already).

If your whole grievance rests on this one paragraph, then you're honestly just wasting your time being upset.
Visionaries in Spirituality ·
So, what does actually look like when you talk about a "vision."
I’ll admit—as a total Virgo, I’m pretty skeptical about all this daydreaming stuff.
We’re all moving toward something, whether we consider ourselves visionaries or not. There's no such thing as standing still.
But let's get specific—are we talking about a vision of a happy society? A happy version of me? The house I’ll eventually build, the kids I’ll raise, some sort of enlightenment, a garden I’ll tend, an art gallery, a scientific breakthrough... or what? A vision of what, exactly?
Is everyone just becoming more selfish these days? in Spirituality ·
ambersailor85 said:Not sure where I picked this up, but it’s a killer metaphor for how society works today—even if it feels like an old fable from somewhere out East.

Basically, some higher power decides that when you pass away, you head to a place that looks like a dining room filled with every delicious meal imaginable. The rule is simple: once you've eaten, you get to indulge in whatever your heart desires next—whether that's just lounging around, chasing romance, or whatever else—and the cycle just repeats every day. It doesn't matter if you were a saint or a sinner; everyone goes to the same place. The only catch? You have to eat using chopsticks that are over six feet long.

Selfish people who end up there can never actually enjoy anything. Their greed drives them to try and grab as much food as possible, but they’ll never succeed because those massive chopsticks make it impossible to grab a bite. On the flip side, generous people will just feed one another and live better than they ever did on Earth.

What’s your take on the people who only care about themselves?

I heard this specific version was used to describe the souls stuck in Hell.

The topic is a bit loosely framed—which means any conclusions drawn will be pretty loose too. The title brings up modern society, but the actual question focuses on specific individuals.
There isn't really a definition here for what "thinking only of oneself" actually looks like. From a psychological standpoint, everyone (unless you're fully enlightened) is constantly "thinking" of themselves on a subconscious level—kind of like that scene in Being John Malkovich where he walks through those secret doors into his own head 🙂)

Selfishness isn't some new phenomenon unique to the modern era; it's always been there. I think the real crux of the matter is distinguishing between destructive selfishness and healthy self-love—and seeing how much a given society encourages one over the other.
If this is meant to be a critique of today's capitalist society, then that thesis needs to be clearly laid out with actual arguments. On the other hand, if we're talking about the (un)selfish nature of people in general, we probably need a few foundational points to work with first.

feralranger said:There is simply far too little data here to draw any meaningful conclusions. One might consider the possibility of an underlying eating disorder, though truly, it all depends on the specific circumstances and the broader life context—such as whether there is actually enough food available for everyone else in their immediate circle...

An individual who is obsessively preoccupied with maintaining an "ideal" weight can be profoundly selfish, whereas someone struggling with overeating may not be acting out of any sense of ego at all.

Fair point, I wasn't being precise enough.
So, let's say a guy is loaded, but his neighbors are starving.
He overeats every single day—doesn't matter why—and he doesn't lift a finger to help the neighbors. That makes him selfish.
On top of that, by bingeing like that, he’s wrecking his own health, his sex life, his emotions, and his headspace—plus, once that stomach is overfull, he's lethargic, and his immediate neighbors can't stand him...
So, objectively speaking, his bingeing isn't some act of "self-love."

You could come up with plenty of other examples to prove that selfishness and self-love aren't the same thing—look at lying, posturing, theft, murder...
Richard Wells said:It's because so many people claim to love themselves in all the wrong ways... through egoism, forcing their views on others, thinking they're always right, lacking any self-criticism... Good grief, I love myself—I'd do anything for myself—but self-love is the exact opposite of all that. Someone who truly loves themselves wants what's actually good for them.

feralranger said:ambersailor85, while I can't say I particularly care for your blatant selfishness, I will at least grant you this: you are honest about it.

It seems to me that most people are far too prone to living in a sort of bubble of delusion, constantly peddling this idea of "self-love" as if it were somehow distinct from pure narcissism...

This is precisely why we are bombarded by endless commercials that wrap up with those vacuous slogans like "Because you're worth it," or some other such nonsense. We are encouraged to suppress any awareness of our own egoism, a little psychological trick that serves the consumerist machine perfectly well...

Is someone who constantly overindulges, acts selfishly, and is obsessed with themselves actually practicing "self-love"?

Loving yourself actually goes hand in hand with being altruistic.
It all really boils down to how you view yourself in the first place.

Karma vs. Free Will in Spirituality ·
Peter Cruz15 said:Hmm, taking a layman's view here. People usually label "fate" as those events they felt completely powerless to influence. I don't necessarily see it that way, though... I tend to think that free choice builds upon karma rather than acting as its alternative.

A cliché example: deciding whether to work or go back to school? Karma is the fact that I found myself facing that specific dilemma in the first place, while the subsequent decision is my own free will. Ugh, now I'm getting tangled up in my own logic... 😁 Basically, my take is that karma "delivers" us to a crossroads where we are then presented with two or more paths to choose from through our own volition.

It seems to me that, say, in India, people equate karma with a sort of "it was meant to be" mentality, which creates this pervasive sense of lethargy and passivity. It feels like people stop trying to improve their own situation or build a better tomorrow. Or perhaps I'm just misreading the room...

I should emphasize, I'm just an amateur when it comes to these things. I don't claim any real expertise. 😁

So, what actually drives your decision when you're stuck choosing between working or studying?

wearyrider16 said:True, but that being never actually shows up... so instead, we go ahead and manufacture our own gods in his or her name. We create these beings and then claim they hold all the authority. It's how we invent these rigid codes of conduct and pretend they carry divine weight.

And what do we get out of it? _T R U T H_... except it's a truth we manufactured ourselves.🙏

So here we are, still imperfect, serving equally flawed gods, but now we have entire ideologies designed to make us even more intolerant and dishonest.

BRAVO to us!

...so what kind of point are you trying to make with that sentence??? 🤷 My dear wearyowl29, have you ever considered this: everything truly essential in life, starting with the spiritual stuff, is deep yet simple, obvious yet invisible to the physical eye!!! ...and a person's greatness comes from being able to recognize those things!!! 😉 Pozy. Hey there, my wonderful friends!!! 👍

To me, the way you write—which is so far from the "truth" (you could tell that from the very first post)—actually makes my eyes ache while I'm reading. Honestly, it feels like just more "lies," which is funny considering how much you claim to fight against them.
What a waste of digital ink.
Look, I know making distinctions isn't always popular (and I rarely do it myself), but your writing comes across like someone who's a complete spiritual novice—and one with a pretty dogmatic, religious bent at that.

Luckily, we still have Sandra Morgan2, wearyowl29, and Witch around... so even when the topic misses the mark, there are enough gems here to make this thread worth sticking around for.

PS
Sorry, but I had to say it (since everyone else is being so incredibly understanding), even though I know you won't take a single word of this to heart.
The truth in a world full of lies!!! in Spirituality ·
What’s the actual point of this thread?

Is this just some nostalgia trip for the "good old days" and a "sane world"?
Are we pushing global conspiracy theories?
Or maybe it's just a failure to grasp how human nature works—that "evil" side—when trying to defend the good, even if God seems to be looking the other way?
Is this the voice of a prophet waking up a sleeping flock in the desert?
A disdain for what you'd call a "shallow, fleeting life"?
And an attempt to push people toward that dark, polarized corner of the world (which isn't even real)?

Is it about dropping some "ultimate truth" (if there even is one...)?
Or is it just a generalization of a generalization?

"Who knows? Honestly, nobody knows anything..."
Maybe the truth is reserved only for the "sincere, the deceived, and the disillusioned"—for those who are humble, gentle, and hungry!
Or maybe it’s all just a regular, everyday moral vent session?
And then there was me... in Spirituality ·
This part of the thread really hit home for me:

Farewell

If I pass,
leave the balcony door open.

A child is eating an orange.
(I can see it from my balcony.)

The reaper mows the grain.
(I can hear it from my balcony.)

If I pass,
leave the balcony door open.

Even this guy (the President) had a mystical encounter with an Angel. And apparently, that Angel told him that through the union of the Penis and the Vagina, one can also attain the "Living Truth."

I get the feeling you completely missed the point of what the author was getting at.
Regarding Komaja and Makaj.
I'm writing this from the perspective of someone who's known the "guy" for 24 years.

Lisa Morales4 said:LOL, well it’s no wonder you drove your own Angel away, all because of some curls and bulky patterns. 😢

But seriously, casualtiger2, take a look once in a while; your Angel keeps his distance but he's still hanging around you just in case, and you know, he's grown quite a bit by now, just like you have. 😛
Don't push him away...

So, you really don't believe an Angel could serve as a decent airbag during a car crash?

Why would I chase him off? He can't just walk away if his job is to watch over me.
For instance, the whole parking situation works perfectly. When we head downtown, my wife doesn't even dream of driving.
But there's another question bugging me. Does everyone have an Angel Guardian, or is it just a select few?
Do atheists, Buddhists, or Confucians have their own protector too?
And specifically—does this apply to people in places like Chernobyl, Hiroshima, or Bhopal...?

darkfalcon21 said:Do you believe in angels? If you look at the original Greek and Hebrew, the word actually translates to a messenger or someone sent on a mission. Supposedly, they serve God (or various gods).
The Bible and the Quran mention them, along with other sacred texts that describe these winged, divine beings.
People say the wings represent freedom and protection. But do you really think they have physical wings?
They’re considered androgenous—essentially genderless, neither male nor female.
And while they are supposedly overflowing with unconditional love, they don't carry human emotions. It's just pure love.
They're also described as being absolutely beautiful and gentle.
Do you think there are different tiers of angels? Like archangels, for instance?
Or do you believe in fallen or evil angels?

Personally, I believe we each have an Angel Guardian watching over us. In fact, I think everyone does.
They act as our guides through this life. And I'd like to think they actually do have feelings—though, naturally, nothing malicious. Just love, kindness, and plenty of understanding.
Since I don't believe in Satan, I don't buy into the idea of evil angels either.

So, I'm curious to hear what you all think... 🙂

image

Nah, I don't buy it. Honestly, people probably just made the whole thing up as a way to feel better about themselves.
Especially the whole bit about chubby faces, curly hair, and wings—it’s just not realistic.
