I'm feeling sick/nauseous in Hobbies & Leisure ·
There’s a massive gap between making a decision and actually doing something about it. Most people just fill that space with whining and bellyaching 😁
That’s why you have to watch your step. I’d personally want some help from her, so I’m gonna leave this thread open—let's see how this plays out.

Jonathan Miller7 said:You’re barely moving, living off junk food, and using college as an excuse—which is basically what everyone else does, so nobody bats an eye. What are people on this forum supposed to say? "Hey, stop eating trash, hit the gym, and eat organic all day"?

Yeah... true. You’re never going to have more free time than you do right now in college. Studying, no matter how much of a grind it is, doesn't even come close to a full-time job or actual adult responsibilities.

On the flip side, I wouldn't be too harsh. Honestly, it feels like a perfect storm of issues here—maybe she’s miserable with her classes, hates the people she's hanging out with, or just has zero motivation at home (probably a pantry full of processed crap).
I say that because those kinds of cycles usually spiral into depression and that total lack of drive you feel when you get home at night. We all hit that wall sometimes, but it shouldn't be your permanent state of being.

The silver lining is that forcing a diet change and getting some movement in can jumpstart your energy levels pretty damn fast.
Seriously, just gotta get moving.

Sleepy, if this thread turns into a giant pity party, I’m locking it or moving it over to the psychology section. We can debate the psychological roots of weight gain and loss all we want, but for God's sake, just start somewhere 😁

It’s easy enough to stir up hate—just bruise someone's ego and you're set. 😁
The people mentioned in the OP probably aren't the best example of how to judge a whole group based on a few stories. I don't think there's actual hate here—it just looks like a desperate attempt to fit in.

@Lisa Wells65/">@@Lisa Wells65, I’m actually digging this chicken and veggie combo—honestly, I’m so over that greasy pan-seared stuff, and I’m way too lazy to go hunting for a different 🙂. Thinking about giving it a shot this weekend.
Same goes for the one with crushed nuts, though it looks like a bit of a headache to make 😕

do you actually need a blender for this, or can I just use a regular hand mixer? don't have a blender on hand right now🤔

Use a blender—hands down. If you try using a basic mixer, you’ll end up with oat flakes stuck to the ceiling😁

Here’s a brand new recipe I cooked up—and somehow, it actually worked 😁

The "Lazy Day" Pancakes

Throw one egg, a few spoonfuls of oats, and some milk into a blender. Add a pinch of salt and blast it on high until it’s totally smooth. If the batter looks too thin, just toss in more oats or milk until it hits that slightly thicker consistency. Cook small batches in a non-stick pan—no oil needed. They’re killer with unsweetened jam in the morning (I usually go with my homemade fig jam 🙂 ) or piled high with syrup after a big Sunday brunch.

Since we keep running into the same messy issues when it comes to handing out sanctions to certain users, we’re switching things up—from here on out, points will be docked based on these rules:

- off-topic posts that lean toward insulting individuals or groups will cost you 100 points—and look, it’s not just about the specific insult used, it’s about the tone and that overall malicious "vibe" coming off the post. In most cases, it's crystal clear to everyone else on the forum, while the authors themselves just act like they don't get it 😁

@Britta, I get where you're coming from. Honestly, those old scars are driving you to act way more irrational than if you hadn't been through the ringer before. That’s the part you really need to own up to and work through internally. Your current guy doesn't deserve this constant barrage of reactions—most of which are clearly just leftovers from your exes. Maybe hitting up a therapist for a few sessions could help clear the air. Once you've sorted your own headspace, then you can actually deal with how he acts. Look, it’s not like he’s even trying that hard to make sure his girl doesn't feel crappy 😁 but whatever, that's beside the point now

quietpilot87 said:Look, if you want zero fuss and maximum payoff, here’s one of my go-to easy fixes:

Sauté about 7 ounces of frozen peas with a chopped onion in a splash of olive oil. Once things soften up, drown it in a bit of water, season it with some garlic powder and salt, and hit it with a massive amount of dill—fresh or dried, doesn't matter. 🙏

Once it's done, let it sit for a minute so the liquid absorbs.

If you blend this, you get the absolute BEST soup ever.
🙏

The only tweak is adding a little extra water while it cooks (maybe an extra half cup) and saving the dill for the very end.

I use a high-speed blender because I need that texture perfectly smooth. An immersion blender works too, though—that’s how the person who originally gave me the tip does it.

coppermason said:I mean, I could say the same thing about myself, but honestly, when I see the payoff for all my patience, let's call it that, it gives me enough fuel to keep going.😉
Every once in a while, people finally realize they're being jerks and we're actually the decent ones—it's like their conscience finally kicks in. That’s a win. Being kind is one thing, but having the self-control to stay chill when others aren't? That takes way more energy than trying to control everyone else.😁

Look, sorry, but if you actually look at that post I quoted earlier—the one where coppermason was talking—it’s right there in plain sight. It's exactly how you act. 🙂

coppermason said:Look, I say my piece too. I rebel, and sometimes I react pretty aggressively, but the problem is they change so incredibly slowly that it feels almost pointless.

Forget it—you don't get to set the tempo for someone else's evolution. Thinking you can is arrogant, and honestly? It’s just impossible.
It's hard enough trying to fix yourself, and even then, you aren't the one pulling the strings. Expecting that from someone else is a lost cause.

Plus, going scorched earth usually just slows people down even more—assuming they were actually moving in the first place.

Focus on changing yourself. And grab some patience while you're at it. Loving someone is mostly just a lesson in waiting.

It’s pretty obvious to me that people are only going to treat you the way you let them. And let's just say, if we're being honest, I’m usually the last person to set any kind of boundary.Total garbage.I don't know what the term is for this phenomenon, but I honestly can't wrap my head around why people act this way. It’s not just me, either—I only brought them up because I actually know them, but they treat everyone with that same level of disrespect. They tend to run into similar types over and over again, too. Depending on the person, they either cut them off entirely or just let the relationship fizzle out into nothing, and those rare few who actually stay close usually end up in constant conflict. So, I'm genuinely curious if anyone here knows what drives someone to be that incredibly tactless. Like, seriously, why?

People act that way simply because they can.

And yeah, you can change it, but you have to start with yourself.
There’s no shame in speaking up when something bothers you. 🙂

silentpilot6 said:If they truly feel zero connection to anyone "normal," then they are simply being irrational 🤷

Whether I’ve lived my whole life acting with complete logic is a difficult question. Perhaps I just possess a subconscious filter 😁 that instinctively weeds out people who might cause me harm, though that isn't always a certainty.
You can dive headfirst into a relationship "without thinking," but eventually, your reason should kick in to provide clarity and perspective.
For instance, my intuition told me to walk away from that married woman... and I have never once regretted that decision.

The idea of "losing one's mind" is also highly debatable. I understand those who lose their heads over someone genuinely kind and high-quality... but those who lose themselves over toxic jerks 😁, parasites, or manipulators 😬 are beyond my comprehension; I cannot understand or justify their actions in any way.
If you’ve been following this thread, you've seen—though there are always two sides to every story—that the people these individuals were obsessing over weren't exactly prizes or social favorites. Often, everyone around them 😁 was explicitly telling them to stay away from certain people... yet it didn't help.
To me, that is what it means to lose your head over a jerk, and it can never be justified.

Searching for Love... honestly, how does anyone actually fall for an obvious jerk? 🤷
Again, I am speaking from my own experience. I’ve had relationships that were "just casual"—I never fell in love.
I’ve also been with people who were clearly unstable, and I never fell for them either.
I’ve dealt with people who tried to manipulate me, and I walked away from them very quickly.
But the women I actually loved never made fools of me.

Regarding that last point, call me cold and calculating if you must 😁, but you should never lose sight of yourself for anyone else... especially not for someone you might be wonderful with today, only to pass them on a street in a year and look the other way. 👎

Good 4 U. I wasn't born with a PhD in consciousness, and I'm not ashamed of it. Yeah, idiots have played me before—I'm claiming my right to be stupid. I think everyone gets a certain number of credits for that. 🙏

It's not about being right all the time; it's about eating a pile of crap so you know better than to do it again next time.

Everything you guys just said is complete nonsense.
If this was just some basic fear of being alone, people would find it easy enough to settle for anyone who’s actually available and sane—not just someone who's busy or totally messed up. From what I've seen—most of these serial romantics don't even have a shot with a normal person, even though they definitely could be with them.

Look, silentpilot6, if you’ve actually navigated every single relationship in your life with your head screwed on straight, then props to you. 😁

I don't see anything shameful about acting like a total jerk for a while—as long as it's just a phase and not your entire personality. 😁
I mean, if you haven't lost your mind over someone at least once, you probably never had one to begin with. 🤣

So why do people do it? Because they're chasing Love. With a capital L. Everyone does. Always have, always will. They wander around, sniffing around, projecting their expectations onto everyone and everything. And those expectations? Usually delusional, crazy, and completely detached from reality. People say Love is blind, sure. But really, it's not that Love is blind—it's just that the search for it makes the person blind because Love is often much bigger than reality can handle.

Honestly, there’s nothing wrong with it. It’s beautiful stuff—that's why people write novels, poems, and all that other crap about it. 😁
The moment it stops being like that, the ego settles down, life gets organized, common sense kicks in, or whatever. And occasionally, you miss that spark you were addicted to when you were younger. 😁
It’s just life—not trying to whine for the sake of it here.

There's no point arguing or judging. Being a mess is a fine topic for me. 🙂

The fact that people are capable of loving so deeply that they forget themselves is way more interesting to me than a bunch of bruised egos. 😬

Lisa Wells65 said:I love lentils, but they're pretty overlooked around here. 😢
I usually grab the green or red ones.

Green takes about 45 mins to cook, while red is closer to 25.

Pro tip: drop them straight into boiling water—it makes them way easier on your stomach than starting with cold water and waiting for it to boil.😁

I mostly pair them with chicken and a bunch of spices, though they work great in soups too.🙏

I always start with cold water 😵

Never really had the green ones—if I recall correctly. 🤷 Is there actually a difference?

Ashley Perez50 said:quietpilot87, what do you even do with lentils? You boil them or what? What’s the deal—is it like rice?

Lentils are just legumes—think beans or chickpeas. Either I cook 'em from scratch or grab a can. Just went with a can this time.

Keeping it dead simple today:

Tuna and lentils — just toss them together in equal parts, hit it with some olive oil, and top the whole thing off with fresh chives.
