Complaint about the mods in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Laura Evans3 said:regarding the original post 😉

So? What about it? ☕

Nobody is out here screaming, "Punish the moderators, damn all the American and English language laws to hell, down with the proletariat!!!"—is it really that impossible to grasp that someone might just want to point out that certain moderator posts are going unpunished?

Laura Evans3 said:A moderator can actually be disciplined by a supermoderator or an admin—and since those higher-ups see every single deleted post, you really don't have to worry about anyone trying to hide their tracks😉

But why does the whole point necessarily revolve around punishment? Maybe we should consider the possibility that the average user isn't actually thirsty for moderator blood, but rather just wants the chance to publicly expose certain things to people outside of a specific subforum?

BTW—and this is something you just can't convey through quotes: it’s honestly a shame that a certain faction of the moderation team—to use a football referee analogy—has absolutely "no feel for the game." They just go around deleting everything that isn't strictly "on script," even if the content is genuinely interesting, funny, or just... well, something. It feels like they're just killing the vibe, if you know what I mean.

Alex Barnes8 said:Yeah, you're defending them. You're acting like those moralists from those other threads. I ask a question, and instead of an answer, I just get that constant deflection of "But why are you asking?" 🙄 Well, I am asking. I guess I wonder why that bothers you so much.
Even that comment about me taking things "too seriously"...🙄 I suppose it's just easier to criticize than to actually answer a question, isn't it?
And I'm not "stuck in rhetoric," I'm just calling things what they are.

First off, I haven't once—not even once—done any of this supposed "dodging" you're accusing me of. 😁 I don't even know what your question was, let alone why I would care about your motivations. Look, this is a private forum with its own set of rules. It’s basically their way or the highway, regardless of what you or I might think about "them" or how they run things.

Secondly, this whole "you're acting like them" comparison of yours... well, it's logically flawed, isn't it? It’s essentially like saying, "Since John Smith said 2+2=4, and you also said 2+2=4, you must be a predator." ☕

Alex Barnes8 said:No, I wasn't talking about you. I meant that I've been attacked multiple times just for asking a question. Get it now?
Maybe calling it an immediate attack is a bit much in some cases, but people just assume I have bad intentions or something... Like they felt threatened. And then it actually turned into an attack. I was just asking a normal question, I guess. 🤷
And, you poor thing, why are you defending them so much?🙄

Now that you’ve finally gotten comfortable enough to let me throw a few sentences your way regarding "for the sake of it, but why else?"—specifically concerning the general conspiracy against free-spirited forum users—I suppose I should be grateful; maybe, if I were lucky, you'd actually take me seriously for once. 🙂

Why are you so incredibly stuck in that rigid, binary way of thinking—that constant obsession with "defense versus offense," that "if you aren't with us, you're against us" mentality, and that tired old fallacy where if you don't support Marshall, then you must somehow be a fan of Hitler?

What I wrote there were nothing more than elementary facts—not a single value judgment to be found. It’s honestly a bit much—it’s like I’m stating that 2+2=4, and yet you have the audacity to suggest I need a PhD in mathematics just to grasp the basics.

And then they had the nerve to lecture me—really, they did—about how I take this forum far too seriously... ☕

You're right about that.
I remember when it was just pure vibes and nothing else here.
Back then, there wasn't even any drama; people didn't join this thing for romance. I used to just listen to The One on my own.

I used to buy into that Reddit nonsense, but I grew out of it long ago.
And honestly, I don't have an issue with seeing things as they really are. Whatever...
But look, man, you've got people who just accept how things are, and then you've got people like me who complain and try to change stuff.
I guess I'm just the second type. And honestly, it looks like nothing can be changed this time, which led to the decision I laid out in that thread I linked you.

Anyway, check the link at the bottom of the page: Forum Leads.

There's the list of mods and admins.
It’s funny how nobody noticed that the only active admin right now is Dessira—who, by the way, I think is awesome and would be great at running a site with those "romantic visions" I mentioned, but she just can't show her talent here because of too many things.
Right now, the forum basically has no administration; it's just a bunch of rogue moderators with no one above them...

Edit:
Oh yeah, you and I are both stakeholders in this whole mess. And we stay that way until someone decides to wipe our posts.
If you can't wrap your head around that, then sorry, but you just don't get how a forum works. It only exists because people participate, without them, it's nothing.

I’d say the concept of being a "stakeholder" is tripping you up a bit. 🙂

Strictly speaking, everything you write belongs to Reddit—formally, there is absolutely no such thing as "shareholding" here (in the sense of gaining any actual "equity rights" simply by posting on a message board). A much more accurate term would be volunteering—you write because you enjoy it, and that's really it.

The only effective way to effect "change" isn't by lamenting some supposed tragic state of affairs, but rather by attempting to build a critical mass of dissatisfied users—or perhaps by stirring up discontent among the "top-tier contributors" who actually drive the quality and volume of this site. So, if you truly believe that's a viable strategy...

Alex Barnes8 said:I don't think that comparison really holds water. They aren't actually related, I guess. Maybe you should rethink it.
As for those questions like "why is someone asking," "why is there a complaint," or "why is someone telling the truth"... I guess the answer is pretty simple: "Why not?"
It’s just typical cowardice, passing the buck like that. It seems easier to attack someone who hasn't done anything wrong just because they asked a question. I guess it's simpler to play psychoanalyst than to actually look for an answer together and just tell the person responsible that they're at fault. Maybe.
Of course. It’s because you need one thing for the second part that isn't required for the first. I guess.
I've run into this several times now on Reddit—getting attacked or accused just for asking a question. People keep hitting me with that "Why are you even asking that?" line, constantly trying to police my posts. It’s like you aren't allowed to ask anything, let alone start a discussion. I guess that isn't really what a forum is for, is it? 😕
Then they can just claim the forums are run by cults and special interest groups that silence anyone who asks too many questions. I guess.
I'm not being paranoid or dramatic. I guess some things have happened that can only be explained one way.

And you're coming at me? Honestly, bless your heart—where exactly am I attacking you? Because, frankly, I don't see it—not one bit.

So, you go to the theater to buy a service, right? You see the ads and the promos, and that's what you're buying—the vibe they sold you. If you feel like you got ripped off or the show wasn't even close to what was advertised, I guess there's consumer protection laws for that. You can totally go after them for your money back if they lied about what they were offering.
I guess it doesn't really matter who's sitting in the audience when it comes to the theater. Maybe.
Probably not meant for this forum, I guess.

A forum's supposed to be for debating, you know? Like everyone gets a seat at the table and their input actually matters because people respond to it. In a theater, you're just sitting there watching, but here... I guess you're an actual participant.

So, how do we even make this place normal again? I guess.
I don't know. I just know that I am. Maybe I should just ask for a permanent ban. I guess. If I've been a member of this Reddit community for this long and they still treat me like total trash, then I guess I'm done with this place. Maybe I just won't be part of this forum anymore.

They didn't listen to what I wanted, so whatever. I guess I'll just start following all those subreddit rules so they're forced to actually deal with me.

Mod is hit or miss on some subreddits, I guess. Some are better, some just suck.
I mean, some people just do that stuff to feed their own massive egos and deal with their pathetic little issues, I guess.

I guess it's just typical that nobody at PZK actually bothers to answer anyone when they file a complaint. Makes you wonder why PZK even exists at this point.
I mean, if we're just gonna follow whatever arbitrary rules the admins cook up, and any attempt to complain just gets met with that "this is a private forum and we run the show" attitude, then what's even the point of this sub?
Just shut it down already. Like, just make one post telling everyone the rules and asking who actually wants to join.

This whole site is just a bunch of random posts from people, and I guess some of them have been modding it for ages. Back in the day, they actually used to post about users, or maybe respond to complaints—doesn't really matter if it was good or bad.
There’s zero moderation left. No one to step in and cut through the crap anymore. I guess... when was the last time an admin even posted here?
Moderators stick together because they’re basically protecting their own interests, I guess. But if they actually upheld just one single appeal—like, if they admitted someone from "their side" actually messed up—then all those other rejected appeals would actually mean something. At least then you'd know someone's actually looking at them.

This story's been dragged through the mud a million times already. I guess this thread won't bring anything new to the table either.

So, what happened to my request to just get perma-banned? I guess nobody even bothered to check why I was asking. They just shut down the thread and moved on. Whatever.
I mean, we can, I guess... but for how long?

Everything you’re describing might hold water in some utopian version of Reddit where the houses are made of gingerbread—but, let me just point out one little detail here:

"Reddit is the private property of the Pew Research Center."

What kind of "shares" are you even talking about??? Private property—does that ring a bell? A forum is, at its very core, designed so that the owners can turn a profit. Everything else is just "setting the table for the first ten guests." If the owners miscalculate their business model, there are plenty of other forums in this world; if there are no users, there is no money, and that’s the end of the story.

For all those romanticized visions of yours, there is a simple solution: who is stopping you/all of you from starting the forum of all forums based on equality, justice, and fairness?

I honestly thought the point was to have an actual conversation—you know, just exchanging ideas and experiences.
But apparently not. It's more like: "He thinks differently! Get him! Actually, just kick him out! Get lost!"
And then there’s the moderator insults: "I see you lack the mental capacity" (which seems to be their favorite line) and that arrogant assumption that they're somehow superior to everyone else. 🤣🤣🤣
🙂

Well, you're mistaken. The answer is 42, obviously. 😁

I can certainly empathize—well, if I actually had the time or the inclination, which I don't—with the frustration regarding certain moderators and their specific styles of oversight, but I truly fail to see the logic behind demanding a particular set of forum policies. It’s almost as if I missed the memo where this place started selling off shares and suddenly everyone thinks they have a say in how to manage their own equity.

It’s like walking into a theater of your own volition and telling the lady in the front row, "Hey, enough with the screaming, why don't we listen to that Halliday track instead?" (or conversely, showing up to a Hallid set and demanding "Nessun dorma").
Starting a thread just for the hell of it (!?) in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Just two quick points before you all get back to your little rodeo: first off, this entire thread started in the women's corner, and every single thing I’ve written pertains strictly to the women's corner—it was only moved over to the chicken coop later (and since that move, not one of my posts has actually been part of this discussion). So, all this mocking about what the chicken coop is, how much of an idiot you have to be to take anything seriously there, and the whole debate regarding the validity of arguments about ten people having a "great day" in the chicken coop—it’s all mostly moot at this point. But then again, who’s actually going to bother reading past the first sentence? I mean, I explicitly mention the women's corner in the very first line—so really, who has the patience to read through all this when there isn't even a single picture included...

Secondly, I realize that when a person gets emboldened by a mob, they tend to start thinking with their backside instead of their brain. Even so, that part of the anatomy could have at least concluded that I couldn't care less about feminism, emancipation, or any sort of chivalrous protection of women. I am speaking quite clearly about taking the original post seriously and simply being annoyed by the mockery directed at its author—specifically that comment about "laughing at someone with a disability performing on the street and feeling glad you're better than them." As for explaining why that undermines the credibility of other topics in the women's corner, I won't even attempt it; here we go again, more walls of text without a single image. Therefore, I’m sending a light jab to the illiterate crowd who failed to grasp a single word of what I wrote, yet somehow feel entitled to have an opinion on it.

Anyway, go ahead and continue scratching your backsides and admiring how incredibly cool and witty you all are.

So, you don't start threads complaining about how someone else posted some low-effort garbage—no, instead, you just sit there, acting entitled, deciding the whole thread should be deleted because you aren't happy. 😁

Honestly, it’s just depressing to see how little you actually grasped—both what I was saying and the reasoning behind it. That's really all there is to say.
Starting a thread just for the hell of it (!?) in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Yesterday, over on the women's corner, someone decided to spin up a thread about misogyny—though, in the interim, it was already moved over to the chicken coop. It seems like we’re touching upon something that I find genuinely compelling at a conceptual level—this isn't just another one of those "he said, she said" threads, nor is it some aimless venting session, whining, or any other kind of emotional outburst.

The opening post—taken seriously, mind you—is just pathetic. It’s insulting, it’s moronic, and in my humble opinion, it doesn't even crack the top 10 list of the most miserable, bottom-of-the-barrel starter posts to grace this forum lately, regardless of whether they actually ended up getting deleted or not. That specific post has been "alive" on the forum for about ten months now, and I have to admit—even if it sounds a bit harsh—that while I found it utterly pathetic, I also found it to be an honest post.

Now we’re getting into the part that I suspect will be particularly interesting for this forum—once I pointed out that the post was absolute garbage and suggested the entire topic should just be deleted, here is how people reacted:

So, let me get this straight—we have a thread where at least ten different people have gone out of their way to say it actually made their day better, and yet... we're talking about deleting it? Seriously? I guess it's just one of those things where logic goes to die. It feels a bit much, honestly—just a little unnecessary, if you ask me.

I haven't been around this forum for very long—and I’ll be the first to admit that I haven't exactly memorized every single line of the rulebook—but I find it somewhat peculiar that "ten people saying a thread brightened their day" is being used as a valid argument against deletion. Does that logic somehow extend to the Politics section? Just as a thought experiment, of course—if I were to throw out a dozen topics there that I am absolutely certain would "brighten the day" of at least ten people, would those be exempt from moderation too?

The starter is actually a pretty decent guy—honestly, fairly normal—but he ended up at this party playing a game of Truth or Dare, and he got tasked with something ridiculous: "Go to the forum and get yourself banned as fast as human적으로 possible."

This specific part is what confuses me the most—honestly. Now, look, the post was clearly written as a joke; everyone knows that was the whole point of it—but the post itself and the thread remain. I have this nagging suspicion that if it weren't for that certain "background" fact known only to the moderator or the admin, this wouldn't have survived at all. I guess I should ask about the possibility of incorporating this into my own game of Truth or Dare at the next party... just so a regular guy at my gathering doesn't get his "joking" thread deleted regardless of what he actually wrote. Or is it perhaps vital that the OP be some sort of "regular guy"? If that’s the case, where can I send my candidate to undergo a formal evaluation for normalcy?

If someone can't grasp that the original post was clearly just a joke—and honestly, if they need it spelled out for them like that—then I suppose they shouldn't be allowed near the internet in the first place. In fact, maybe they shouldn't be trusted to feed themselves or even step foot outside their house without a legal guardian or some sort of authorized supervisor trailing behind them.

Based on my experience with all the dead-serious nonsense people write—or at least attempt to write—on this forum, if someone hasn't realized by now that this whole thing is just one big joke, then I honestly think they are beyond help. I suppose I should address the moderator's role here—if one can even call it that anymore. It feels like we’re drifting further away from actual meaningful discussion, doesn't it? I mean, I don't want to sound like I'm complaining just for the sake of it, but there seems to be a certain... lack of direction lately. Maybe I'm being too harsh, or maybe it's just me, but the way things are being handled—especially regarding how certain topics are policed—is starting to feel a bit stifling. It's almost as if the rules are being applied inconsistently, which, frankly, defeats the whole purpose of having them in the first place. I guess we'll just have to see if anyone actually listens to these concerns, though I won't hold my breath. It’s essentially an elementary insult—regardless of whether those words were spat out in a moment of pure, unadulterated loss of control because of someone else, or if they were just the result of feeling a bit too comfortable within the safety of a like-minded circle.

I honestly feel that incidents like this are a massive disservice to this forum; if we’re just going to allow threads to be opened purely for the sake of trolling—and then, to make matters worse, people actually get insulted for simply participating—it means we’ve reached a point where every single open discussion needs to be vetted first. I guess we’ll have to constantly question the credibility of a post or wonder if it's just the byproduct of someone else's mindless nonsense before we even bother responding. To me, that feels entirely pointless.

I want to reiterate that I am laying all of this out for the sake of principle—strictly from the standpoint of "forum politics," if you will—rather than any desire for personal drama. Quite frankly, I couldn't care less about petty bickering or individual squabbles. It seems to me—and perhaps this is just a byproduct of the generational gap—that when someone tries to maintain a certain level of seriousness, the vast majority of users here view it as nothing more than being uptight or having a stick up their ass. My only real question, I guess, is whether this is just a "local" sentiment specific to our little corner of the internet, or if it’s a more widely accepted attitude. I am simply trying to gauge how one is expected to conduct themselves around here.

Thanks for bearing with me.

Exactly. You didn't actually close the thread—you just issued this incredibly misguided "guideline" suggesting we shouldn't focus on the OP, even though, quite frankly, the entire post was basically a monologue about himself. Even someone as pedantic as I am—and believe me, I can be quite particular—could have pointed out several instances where you were doing exactly what you're now preaching against.

But honestly, that’s a rabbit hole I have no interest in diving down: it leaves us staring at that grand, lofty "Purpose" that this forum supposedly serves.

I mean, I assume you already know exactly what’s going on here—or at least, I’d like to think you do.

To even call something "off-topic," there actually needs to be a topic to begin with. That... "thing"... was definitely not a topic. Honestly, it should have been euthanized immediately or just let fade into nothingness—anything to get it out of this void of nothingness.

A real "discussion" would be something happening within a meaningful, interesting, or perhaps even witty thread.

In American football, they often talk about how a referee needs a "feel for the game." You want the official who understands the flow, not some robot just blindly following the rulebook without any intuition.

this forum isn't some playground for endless bickering and cheap shots

That quote is just part of some moderator's explanation for banning a user. It’s not entirely irrelevant—I’ve disagreed with the banned individual plenty of times, mind you—but I don't write here to act as their defense attorney or play the sycophant.

The whole statement forces a rather blunt question: what is the actual purpose of this forum?

Essentially, all that "bickering and cheap shots" erupted within a thread that was a total disaster from the start—one that probably should have been shut down ages ago for the sake of the American online community's sanity, given its ecological and humanitarian implications. So, I’m sitting here wondering—in good faith, of course—if the topic itself is such an absolute tragedy, such a fundamental horror, then what point is there in any kind of moderation at all? Was that "bickering" perhaps the only shred of life left—a tiny breath of air in a corpse of a thread that could have been summarized in three simple sentences?

To me, any form of online communication—including a forum—has always made sense as just that: communication. If entertainment happens to be a byproduct (as the moderator seems to suggest), it’s like a set of steak knives being tossed in as a bonus with a miracle hair-growth tonic. But now, apparently, the forum serves some other, higher purpose. Is there a manual somewhere explaining what that supposed purpose actually is?

The plates are just the trigger, not the actual root cause here. If you just wash those five freaking plates, your bargaining position becomes significantly stronger—at least in theory. And honestly, I think I’d lose my mind too if I came home from work, only to find three bodies sprawled out in front of the TV and the house looking like a total pigsty. I suppose the fact that neither of your two sisters lifts a finger probably doesn't help matters either, but you really have to decide—do you want to actually solve your problem, or are you more interested in achieving world peace and universal justice for everyone?
