President Cyril Ramaphosa said Monday that the unknown variant of SARS-CoV-2 is spreading through South Africa faster than anything we've seen, though there are signs it's causing much milder cases than previous strains, according to The New York Times.

Scientists at a major medical center in Pretoria noted that their current COVID patients aren't showing nearly as many symptoms as the ones they were treating before, and they're seeing the same thing in hospitals across the country. In fact, most people testing positive are being admitted for other issues entirely and aren't even feeling sick from the virus itself.

The reason is pretty simple, really—it’s just about stopping one infectious disease. It isn't exactly the first or even the last thing experts recommend getting vaccinated for, either. I guess if you start questioning this one, you could end up questioning why other vaccines exist or why doctors prescribe certain medications and things like that. That seems fine, I suppose, as long as the person asking actually knows what they're talking about. But looking at the way people talk on this forum, it's pretty clear most folks don't even grasp how a vaccine works. So, insisting on these reasons feels kind of pointless to me. When someone actually gives you an answer, you just brush it off, probably because you feel like you know more about immunology than world-renowned scientists.

The kid should have shown up to Elementary School every single morning without a mask and demanded a written notice if they intended to send him home. If they tried to kick him out, the principal and the school would be facing a lawsuit because attending school is a right under US Law.

I’ve seen cases where students hit teachers and the harshest punishment they got was just being transferred to a different school.

If anyone reading this actually knows the kid, this is exactly how he needs to handle it.
