Eric Adams - Mayor of New York City, Part 4 in Political Scene ·

Whatever anyone thinks about Željka Markić, she hasn't broken any laws. Sitting next to Barish and those other crooks would be a total slap in the face, but honestly, these guys are struggling with more than just ethics—they clearly don't even understand how democracy works.

Yesterday in the assembly, they were debating opening a construction waste dump near Resnick. Get this: the proposal includes an opinion from the Downtown district saying they aren't against opening a dump in Brooklyn... 🤣...but in that same damn proposal, there's zero mention of the Brooklyn council's opinion, even though they're actually against the plan... even the local representatives from the Democratic Party were against it.

It's all just a way to strip power from the lower levels and ignore the actual local councils and neighborhood boards.
🙏

Even Bandić wouldn't have thought of something this shady—just straight-up erasing the council's opinion because they're standing in the way of what you want to push through.
🙏

Yeah, seeing him there in the VIP lounge really rubbed me the wrong way too. It immediately flashed back to a few years ago when they let Mamić out of jail and he just strolls right into a game against some random underdog team... walks straight into the suite, and everyone around him just jumps up and starts clapping like nothing happened.
I mean, by sitting in that box, he can't just go around giving legitimacy to the current leadership. It's bad optics...

The only way he's grabbing coffee with them every Saturday is if all three happen to be in prison at the exact same time.😬

And even if they were out walking the streets right now? No way he's grabbing drinks with them if he actually wants people to believe he isn't part of their little crew.

Meanwhile, Mamich is claiming his daughter is out there campaigning hard for the Greens, which honestly sounds like the start of a rather charming little friendship. Who knows, maybe we'll see New York City getting some discounted solar panels from those big energy firms soon...

It actually looks like he’s genuinely having a good time, too. He doesn't have that forced vibe you'd get from someone like Josipovic at one of those late-night galas where you can tell they're counting the minutes until they can leave. You wouldn't expect it, but it turns out the environmentalists actually have a soft spot for soccer. 🙂

I mean, they play on green grass, right?

Think about it: if he hadn't won those elections, and if the massive wave of support we saw in New York City—people seeing him as an honest, competent choice—had happened during the national congressional elections instead? The chaos at the federal level would have been unreal.
The way it stands, he’s stepped into a role under enough public scrutiny that all the dishonesty, incompetence, and blatant ideology of the old guard is being dragged into the light. They won't be able to build any more momentum. Not to mention, they can't pull a fast one on the moderate and center-right voters anymore (who make up the majority and were already swept up in the last cycle); from here on out, they're stuck relying solely on the radical left.

I know this logic probably won't sit well with New Yorkers, who feel like they're the ones being used as guinea pigs in this scenario, but for those of us outside the city, it’s actually a great outcome, you have to admit...

Yeah, sure, because heaven forbid they threaten the good old Republicans at the federal level.

Didn't we elect him to improve things? Not to make them worse. And the situation is significantly worse after just one year.
In one of your previous comments, you mentioned that trash pickup works great and you don't see bags by overflowing bins, plus even the new Director of Sanitation admitted there are issues. Are you suggesting he's lying?😁
And one more thing. During his first year, our Mayor brought in a new director from Indianapolis. He gets a pretty decent salary and a $0.00 housing allowance. How did he earn that? Through successes in his old job in Indianapolis? Or is it something else?

Following the recent New York City Council meeting, where an amendment to the employment contract for the head of the local Sanitation branch, Davor Vić, was announced—which was signed with him on December 31st by the head of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, Ivan Novaković—it was revealed to the public that this Democrat from Indianapolis is being granted a monthly housing and utility allowance of $1667 on top of his 26,000 gross salary. That's nearly double what members of Congress or other officials get, plus a company vehicle that he uses to drive back to Indianapolis every single week. That travel alone costs about $1000 a month, which is roughly what an "average Joe" working for the Department of Sanitation would pay if he used his own car to visit family in Indianapolis.

Look, imagine something is plummeting downward. Can you just grab it mid-air and force it to sprint upward? Doesn't seem that simple to me... I feel like you'd have to push damn hard just to slow the fall first, then stop the drop, and only *then* can you start heading up.

Jack Hill2 said:Same here. No issues with trash collection at all. I haven't seen anything unusual anywhere in the city. I’m not saying there isn't a missed pickup somewhere or that the Department of Sanitation doesn't have hurdles to clear, but this whole thing feels blown way out of proportion by the media... especially since the city isn't exactly drowning in garbage.

It feels like the goal is just to paint Adams as a complete failure and an idiot. For twenty years, nobody cared about organized crime, mafia influence, massive debts, or triple-charging for every single contract. Now, suddenly, the city administration is responsible for everything, even when leaves fall from the trees in autumn...

And on top of that, they’re calling him up to save the Los Angeles Lakers, even though he probably doesn't even have the legal authority to pull that off. And if—God forbid—the Lakers actually go under, everyone's gonna start pointing fingers at him, even though his predecessor basically caused the whole mess in the first place.

Just one month of absolute, hellish collapse over on the West Coast.

Wait, since when does an overpass sit above the street like that?

Word is it sits idle because there’s no feedstock, and nobody wants to sink money into the fuel required for ignition and upkeep. It was funded by Anthony Maglica (https://maglite.com/), and apparently, pyrolysis leaves almost no smoke—plus, they say the capacity could cover the entire region.

When it comes to trash, plasma technology is just superior.

It’s dead. Total ghost town situation.
People say—who knows how much truth is in it or if it's just local gossip—that the folks on Martha's Vineyard just didn't want anyone else's trash being dumped on them. No malice intended, just passing along the word on the street.

The Power of the Dog 🙏
Just do yourself a favor and watch it. All the way through. Don't you dare turn it off halfway...
I spent two whole hours staring at the screen wondering why I even clicked on this thing... but honestly? You gotta see it.

Maybe a guy lives over by St. Roch's perimeter. It's a decent neighborhood... pretty nice, actually.

About to pull up that one right now. 😉 Just waiting on Byron.
It’s actually kind of nice seeing a player from the Swedish team getting this hyped up.

And here's the kicker—I'm convinced this was done on purpose. Bob needs voters who will justify and back this kind of behavior...

Hahahahahahah 🙂 Integrity and morals... 🤣
Sorry, I just had to. That's easily the funniest thing I've seen all day. Honestly, this belongs in the Republican Party Court... 🤣 🤣
William Gomez5 said:I was actually just going back and forth with LeGriffio about legendary goals, and that one was the first thing we brought up.

See, sometimes you just sit there stunned because you have absolutely no clue how or why what just happened actually took place.

So we started looking for goals you can describe without even needing to drop names—stuff everyone instantly recognizes. We even pulled up that legendary Goran Rubil strike against Lokomotiva, and that one against Hajduk Split too. 🤣

🤣
Man, that hit the spot.
Lawrence Miller2 said:What do you mean I didn't? I actually sent an email over to the spokesperson for the American Football Federation this past Friday.
But man, it's pretty obvious they're just a bunch of spineless slugs.

Maybe he was just out of the office and missed the message. Plus, those jerseys were probably already printed by now...
Man, what a killer idea! Honestly, it’s a bummer you didn't give them a heads-up sooner.
But hey, it's not like we can't start getting everything lined up for next year... plenty of time to prep if we move now.

Maybe they've been worn very little—only when heading to the theater or grabbing a coffee downtown.
But let's wait for him to chime in; I'm sure he's got some specific vision of what would actually satisfy him. 🙂

Pretty soon I’m just gonna start every single thread with: "During the war..."

The whole country has changed since then, too. 🙂

Why does it feel like every single opening post in basically any thread starts with some variation of: "So, here's the deal..."?
