Great idea to schedule this for the day of the national team game... Maybe some people will actually hold off on starting fights at the stadium if they feel like showing a little respect for Memphis...

You're the only hooligan here. You clearly lack basic manners, and since you can't make a real point, you just resort to insults... 👍

Have you even bothered to read the proposed fan regulations? Or do you even attend games often enough to know what's happening?

The real issue with this law is how it targets everything under the sun. It's not just about actual violence; they're going after people for minor things like having a couple of beers before kickoff. If you get caught with a flare, you're looking at a stadium ban and a requirement to check in with the police every single weekend. Plus, if you commit a serious offense, your data stays on file for ten years—even if it was just for something as trivial as drinking a beer...

They're also cracking down on wearing hats and scarves to hide faces. Any sane person can see how much room there is for police discretion here. How is an officer supposed to tell if someone is masking their identity or just wearing a beanie and a scarf because it’s freezing or the smoke from the flares is getting in their eyes? Under these rules, anyone can be detained because "masking" is technically illegal now...

Bottom line: the law is full of loopholes. It won't stop the actual thugs or the violent types who live for chaos; they'll just move their nonsense away from the stadium to somewhere else...

Maybe if you actually had to deal with this stuff firsthand, you'd get where I'm coming from...

So, what’s the typical sentence for a physical assault these days? I'm not trying to stir the pot, just asking because I honestly don't know...

Personally, I don't see this as an injustice. From what I gather, we're talking about someone jumping a guy who was much weaker and completely alone. Instead of making excuses for senseless violence, we should be focusing on the actual injustices being pushed through these new sports fan laws—like those massive fines for lighting a flare, having passports confiscated, or getting detained just for holding a beer. We shouldn't be justifying random acts of aggression..

That's just my take on it, anyway. I'm basing this on what I've read about the situation, since I wasn't there to see it firsthand...

feralpilot912 said:We need to fight this using every repressive tool at our disposal. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: if we need to revoke passports, then let them be revoked. If we need to harass anyone convicted of hooliganism by forcing them to check in at police stations or making them watch games from there—so be it. If there is any way to make it difficult for a hooligan to attend a match or support their club or the national team, I am all for it.

There are far too many idiots in the stands who jeopardize everyone's safety and bring shame to the club, the city, and the entire country. Let those fan groups purge themselves. If the fans won't do it themselves—and we all know they won't—then the state should use other means to handle it.

As for the claim that this is stripping away or limiting constitutional rights—well, it simply isn't. Freedoms and rights can be restricted by law to protect the freedoms and rights of others, the legal order, public morality, and public health. Any limitation of freedom or rights must be proportionate to the necessity of the restriction in each specific case (Article 16 of the Constitution). If you aren't allowed into a two-hour game because you were brawling or causing chaos at a previous match, I'd say that is perfectly proportionate to the situation.

If you've been in jail for hooliganism at matches, or even multiple times, why shouldn't they take your passport so you can't go on an away trip, say, to Italy? WTF? Either behave or deal with the consequences.

What even defines hooliganism in your eyes? What falls under that umbrella? In what way and for whom is being a fan socially harmful? And how many times have you actually been on a supporter's terrace?

Answer these few questions and back up your stance...

Otherwise, people might think you aren't exactly a genius and that your opinions are just being manufactured by pseudo-journalists living off sponsors who dictate exactly what they write...

Regarding yesterday's performance, it was worth praising. Real change only happens through media appearances and concrete proposals. If nothing changes, it means the government's goal isn't to pass good legislation, but to dismantle every organized form of fandom and current supporter groups... After this, we'll know where we stand, because everyone saw that the fans actually brought real proposals to the table...

The proposals and justifications were very well put together. My only addition would be that penalties should be much harsher if someone attacks another person with a stick, a plank, or a stone compared to a simple fistfight. Also, the most severe punishments should go toward those who vandalize vehicles; rival groups targeting buses or cars causes massive damage, especially when people struggle enough just to find transportation to get there...

Can someone please just upload these suggestions and drop a new link? I want the rest of the crew to be able to see them too... 🙂

I've given this some thought too. I agree that we could pull the most attention toward the issues with this new Sports Fan Act during the big rivalry game. You'd have tons of people at the stadium who don't usually care about politics suddenly wondering what's going on—not just the Ultras or the BBB, but everyone. Even the folks watching on TV would find it weird if things felt off...
The thing is, trying to coordinate something like that for a derby is tough. Especially this one, since Atlanta United finally has a real shot at taking first place. It’d be nearly impossible to organize a half-boycott or get people to stop cheering or walk out mid-match...

Even that 0.02% limit is still too high... You aren't going to knock back four beers, maybe just two or three.. 😁

Look, alcohol isn't the root cause of stadium issues. Most regular fans don't show up wasted; they grab two or three beers just to get in the right mood and have some fun... 😁

The ones showing up completely hammered are usually the fair-weather fans who only come out for the massive games. They drink all day long and end up being total liabilities by kickoff...

But this 0.04% rule is pure stupidity. It’s the exact same blood alcohol limit for someone behind the wheel as it is for someone walking into a stadium. I think it's obvious which group is actually a danger to society. Plus, you've got a better chance of getting caught with more than 0.04% in the stands than in a car, because this regulation is basically a gift to the police—they have the right to breathalyze anyone entering the venue...

They slap a limit on us, yet members of Congress and The Cabinet show up to national team games wearing scarves sponsored by big breweries...

Here we go again. Not only did they fail to consult any fans regarding the new proposal, but they’ve actually tightened some of the measures compared to the version of the sports fan law that was being discussed here just a few weeks ago...

So, what’s the move? How do we fix this? I honestly don't have an answer. Reading through this law gives me the distinct feeling we're living in an Orwellian nightmare...

As fans, we’re basically invisible in this country because our numbers are so small. Every single fan in America could probably fit into one stadium section. Meanwhile, the general public views us as villains because of a few bad actors, or they simply don't care at all. We have zero support. What's even worse is that plenty of fans don't even realize how destructive this law is; they’re too busy fighting their own petty, insignificant battles over trivial things.

Like spitka said, we need a total mobilization of every group to coordinate some kind of joint action if this law passes. And honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if they start enforcing it immediately during the derby or the opening match in San Francisco...

My take? They shouldn't punish everyone the same way. There’s a massive difference between someone lighting a flare and just holding it under their chin versus someone actually chucking it onto the pitch. One guy is just being loud; the other is actively sabotaging the game itself.

It's totally illogical how they handle alcohol. They say you can have up to a 0.02% BAC when you walk through the gates, yet you aren't supposed to "possess" alcohol while traveling to the match. If I recall, there’s even a heavy penalty if you exceed that limit. We should suggest they scrap that whole rule because it makes zero sense. It's ridiculous that someone who has three beers and wants to catch the game ends up facing massive fines or a police report. It would be much more reasonable to set a hard limit—say, 0.02%—where if you're over it, the cops just deny you entry and leave it at that. You shouldn't have life-altering legal problems just because you had a couple of extra beers.

spitka, when’s the next meeting with Đurđa scheduled, and when can we actually submit some proposals? I’m skeptical about these sit-downs; feels like just another PR stunt so they can pretend they’re being reasonable and claim the fans actually cooperated on this fan law...

The whole thing about covering your face with a hood or a scarf is absolute nonsense. Since when is wearing a hat or a scarf over your face a violation of the law? It's pure dictatorship...

Plus, the logic here is nonexistent. They say you’re allowed to have a 0.02 BAC at the stadium gates, but then you aren't allowed to touch an alcoholic drink while traveling on a bus or train en route? It makes zero sense...

Basically, this law is designed to label a specific group of people as dangerous, shady outcasts. What really gets under my skin is when Đurđa or Tim Stamps claim that regular fans shouldn't fear this new law because it's only meant to clear out the hooligans. You should ask them: is the guy wearing a scarf or a beanie a hooligan? Is the guy having a beer in his car on the way to the game a hooligan? Or is the guy who hits a 0.02 BAC walking through the gate considered a hooligan? If you trip up on any of these new rules, you get reported, slapped with a massive fine, and tossed into some hooligan registry for 10 years—basically branded for life. Not to mention how it ruins your daily life with all the bans...
