Nickname change (read first post!) in Forum Help! ·
My previous username ended with this weird little suffix: -zd.
I actually reached out to support asking them to just strip it off, but they couldn't because that specific handle was already taken—so I suggested just adding an underscore to the end instead, and they went along with it.
In fact, jezebel changed over to *jezebel* on that very same day. It would be easy enough for me to prove it, but honestly, what's the point? At the end of the day, it's all about good intentions.
I’m really not one to go around spreading misinformation.

darkseal9 said:Man, why do you have to stick your nose into everything? It’s like you feel the need to be the lid on every single pot—even the ones filled with absolute garbage.

Well, not always, and certainly not for everyone. You're a unique case here—you've been hanging out on this forum way longer than some of the actual moderators.
That being said, I totally get where the request is coming from, and honestly, it would be a really nice gesture if the team here could just make it happen.
Sorry, darkseal9, but I can't really argue with you when you're making such a valid point about needing that change.

darkseal9 said:Maybe we could just add a ® next to Nick's name at the end, then grab a beer and talk about it

No way.

I happened to see this request and just couldn't help myself—I had to jump in.

darkseal9 is basically an icon here at MK; they've been a part of this community for over 13 years.
If usernames are allowed to have random symbols like #$%& or even those double dashes (**--), then surely we can accommodate such a tiny, simple request. It’s not like some newcomer who joined in 2016 and has only three posts under their belt.

Please, be reasonable. 🙂
Thanks in advance.

Don't be mad, darkseal9!
Appeal for permanent ban from New York City in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m starting this thread in the hopes that as many community members as possible will step up to support it.
It’s about our fellow user from New York City who was hit with a permanent ban.
And honestly—it feels a bit like being judged by someone just looking for an excuse to complain.

Through this post, I’m officially asking the site administration to reconsider and lift his permanent ban.

The guy is genuinely kind, easygoing, has a great sense of humor, and is a fantastic writer—he even runs his own blog and has published a book.
He’s an athlete, a cyclist, and incredibly sharp when it comes to IT and mathematics.
He’s been a staple of this community for a very long time.
We're talking over a decade of presence here, so I truly believe he deserves one more shot—one he would absolutely honor—and I’m fairly certain he feels bad about any recent slip-ups or hasty words.

So many people enjoy his contributions, which ultimately makes this whole site a better place to be.

If you look at the support for this thread, you'll see people really value him for the quality of his work.

I’m really hoping for a positive outcome regarding my request.

Thanks in advance. 🙏🙏🙏
Help needed! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m honestly not even sure how you start a thread on here, but I really need to vent to someone—so, I'm heading straight to the FBI. 😬

Today, I had to witness some absolutely nasty insults being hurled my way; I've already filed a report, and I'll leave the links right here for you all.
It was incredibly brutal, and honestly, it isn't even the first time this particular user has targeted me. It seems like they just take pleasure in attacking anyone and everyone in their path.

After the initial shock wore off, I was actually on the verge of tears.

Anyway, even if this were happening to someone else instead of me, I’d still be trying to take action.
I truly feel like posts like this shouldn't be allowed on a public forum—you never know how much someone might be struggling or how they might react to such vitriol—plus, this user doesn't even know me or who I am.

If you think I'm somehow at fault here, then go ahead and blame me, but please—just don't allow this kind of stuff to stay visible on a public board (or at least delete it so people I know won't see it and I won't be embarrassed), I'm begging you:

Whatever you decide to do, I'll support it.
Thanks so much in advance.

Douglas Johnson41 said:Basically, they’re penalizing the exact style of conversation that CNN has always been known for—it's the whole reason people show up and participate there in the first place. Even just hinting that things might get a bit more intense triggers the moderators; they start throwing out warnings and deleting posts the second something doesn't fit their specific mood.
That’s why you can't even share links anymore—topics get wiped or hidden, and individual posts just vanish into thin air.

I was actually planning on saying the exact same thing as you, but you put it much better than I would have!
Spot on.

Susan Price30 said:silvereagle6 was talking about asocial individuals, which raises the question: what exactly does an asocial person have to offer, and to whom?😁 If we go by the literal definition, the actions and intentions of such a person are directed against their own environment and its social norms. Consequently, they stifle their own ability to grow within that community—referring back to her point about humans being inherently social creatures who can only truly find fulfillment through social interaction.

In that case, we call someone asocial because their behavior and internal motivations work against the well-being of those around them, making them socially maladapted. (And certainly, quite dangerous.).

That was a beautiful way to explain it—you hit the nail right on the head regarding what I was getting at, even though my own description was much more brief. 🙂

wearyhawk83 said:Look, love isn't about the person receiving it; it’s all about the way it's given.

Well, you aren't Jesus Christ—you can't just exist solely by pouring love out into the world without taking anything back.
Even Jesus had a mother who loved him.

There really is absolutely nothing wrong with being your own source of comfort.

wearyhawk83 said:Look, I know plenty of antisocial people who are totally capable of giving and receiving love, so maybe it’s time to rethink those assumptions!

But if someone is truly antisocial and avoids everyone, how exactly are they supposed to receive love, or have anyone to give it to?
And let's be real—we can't really use pets as an example here, since they aren't equals when it comes to human connection.

wearyhawk83 said:What makes you think fulfillment depends on that, though?

Well—it's because he’s just so socially disconnected—he honestly doesn't know how to give love or even how to receive it.

It’s not exactly the same thing, but it feels pretty similar to an astral projection experience.

If you feel like sharing, I'd love to hear your take. How exactly can the body be perceived as an illusion?
To me, it’s just physical matter—I honestly struggle to wrap my head around seeing it any other way.🤷

nimbleheron3 said:But why? How am I supposed to wake up when I'm constantly tethered to a world that feels like one big lie? Now—it’s just an assumption for now—but I'm operating under the idea that every single piece of this reality is an illusion.

The world around us shouldn't be an absolute lie.
That's such a turoban sentiment to hold onto.
I really hope you've surrounded yourself with people you can actually trust—people who offer that absolute truth and love that you can then pass along to others.
If you find yourself isolated, try to adapt; you can't really blame the entire world for your own solitude. Honestly, there's a good chance we might be responsible for our own isolation.
Humans are social creatures by nature—that's really the only way we can truly find ourselves and thrive.

Susan Price30 said:🤣 yep...every single band member is Christian, singing about faith and spiritual experiences.😁

Regarding the taste—how can you judge something you've never actually tried?🙏

I actually quite like that song title, Awake & Alive...there’s something meaningful about being awake and alive, beyond just being a slogan on a Jehovah's Witness magazine cover.🙂

Honestly, those Jehovah's Witnesses can be so exhausting. Just yuck.
For me, they're one of those religions that—ugh, goodness me—even though they are Christians, I'm just not feeling it.

The soul can definitely fall ill—that’s exactly why we even have a term for "mental illness" in the first place.

nimbleheron3 said:If the body is just an illusion, then everything it perceives has to be an illusion too, right? If I’m following that logic correctly—and I might be overthinking this—then the most vital part of waking up would be deep introspection and a total rejection of the world around us. So, first step: isolation?

Honestly, there’s nothing worse than isolation. You’ll just fall into a permanent sleep.

silverfalcon952 said:Hey everyone! Just wondering—how many of you are actually ready to roll up your sleeves and put in the work to heal your soul? Also, can you even tell when the people around you are struggling with their own internal mess, and if so, how are you stepping up to help them out?🙂

I’m constantly working on myself—really putting in the hours. It feels like I’ve been waking up to this realization for years now. 😁 Whenever I start feeling that wave of exhaustion hitting me—you know, that point where your eyes just want to quit on you—I find myself reaching out for a little extra help just to stay upright and alert. 🙂
I love helping out, and honestly, I’m always more than happy to sit back and just listen to what people are pouring their hearts out about—there's so much wisdom in the soul-talk of those around you.
