2009 Car Reveal in Formula 1 ·
darkmarlin16 said:Jerez:
1. Sebastien Bourdais - Toro Rosso STR3 - 1:17.472 - 117 laps
2. Lewis Hamilton McLaren - McLaren MP4-24 - 1:19.632 - 94 laps
3. Fernando Alonso Renault - Renault R29 - 1:19.846 - 109 laps
4. Nico Rosberg Williams FW31 - 1:21.123 - 71
5. Mark Webber - Red Bull Racing RB5 - 1:21.313 - 62 laps
6. Kazuki Nakajima - Williams FW31 - 2:39.999 - 34 laps

...since the teams agreed to test using just one car—Nakajima and Rosberg were splitting duties

Bahrain:
1. Kimi Räikkönen - Ferrari F60 - 1:33.325 - 105 laps
2. Jarno Trulli - Toyota TF109 - 1:33.429 - 127 laps
3. Christian Klien - BMW Sauber F1.09 - 1:33.666 - 125

Exactly—things are looking pretty clear in Jerez. Renault is the way to beat. I mean, Toro Rosso is running last year's machine and McLaren is still rocking last year's wing. Renault is basically screaming that they're going to dominate this season.

And man, can we talk about those time gaps... 🙏

The crews over at Williams and Red Bull Racing are lagging behind Alonso by more than a full second per lap.😲

Btw, what is up with Nakajima's time? Did someone mess up a sensor or something?

It feels like every sportsbook out there is totally sleeping on Mark Webber compared to Sebastian Vettel 🤷

I honestly think they're making a huge mistake. things are about to get intense.

Renault is easily the best-looking car on the grid after the Williams 😛

Honestly, if you don't see it, it's just because you have zero taste 🙂
Holiday greeting ideas? in Formula 1 ·
Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! I hope you get everything you’re wishing for this year (except for those wishes where Hamilton and McLaren take the next championship) 😁

darkmarlin16 said:Hold up, what exactly are we supposed to be buying both of for $12?

Something like that

shadowfox622 said:Look, I'm not crazy enough to bother with a subscription. I tried it before and my issues with delivery were constant—it was always late. Plus, there's no way it'll be cheaper picking it up at a newsstand for $17. Maybe eventually Car and Driver will hike their prices from 28 to $10
.

As things stand right now regarding subscriptions, both magazines are going to be priced at $9.25 for subscribers. That means if you're just grabbing one off the shelf, you’re looking at roughly 33 to $12, maybe topping out at $13
.

shadowfox622 said:So this is officially the last standalone issue of Motor Trend. The next one doesn't drop until March 15th, and you can only grab it if you bundle it with EVO. Check out their site. Honestly? I’m totally down. It feels like a solid way to save $8.25 every single month 😁

I don't think you're actually saving $8.25 a month, because from what I can tell, the base subscription for both in that bundle is gonna be about a hundred bucks more expensive than just buying one magazine on its own

placidsurfer9 said:How can you say that?! You clearly didn't check the back pages!! 😁

Man, I totally forgot to check out the lifestyle section 😵

That’s honestly the best part of any magazine 😁

placidsurfer9 said:There’s plenty of other cool stuff out there too... Like how Heidfeld was basically a wizard when it started pouring rain while everyone else was stuck on slicks—he switched to inters and jumped seven spots in the final lap... imagine even seven massive mistakes wouldn't have stopped him...
There's definitely some interesting stuff to dig into... Maybe just subscribe to AAA instead... 👍

I cracked it open, saw a headline claiming "there was no conspiracy," skimmed a couple of lines, decided it wasn't worth my time $4.25, and tossed it right back on the rack 😛

I might actually pull the trigger on a subscription... 😁
I’ve been scrolling through a few pieces—checked out that intro by stormyviper11 and that column about the Glock by Goran Djaković—and honestly? It feels real. No fluff, no sugar-coating, just straight talk. I dig that style. 🙏🙏

Quick question though: what's the absolute latest I can sign up if I want to make sure I'm on the list for the January issue?

mistybear87 said:$80 plus you snag a free gift set of men's grooming products (worth $100) or a digital breathalyzer (worth $49) 😉

if you bundle it with an EVO subscription, it'll run you $165 and you get Gran Turismo 5 for PlayStation 3 as a bonus 👍

on top of that, any subscription gets you a free Michelin tire tread gauge too

I was just flipping through the current issue of Motor Trend and I am totally lost on this whole breathalyzer thing 🤷
on the double-page spread about subscriptions, the left side mentions that breathalyzer, but then on the right side where they list the three different sub tiers, it’s not even listed for the $80 plan—it just shows the grooming kit. It's missing from the signup form entirely, too 😕

Hey, does anyone know how much an annual subscription actually runs me?

I’m definitely siding with the folks who say a driver shouldn't have to worry about what the mechanics are doing in the pits, or be stressing over which other driver is coming up on them while they're trying to get moving. ☕

mistybear87 said:It used to be easy to tell who was participating in a thread just by looking at the usernames instead of just a number.
Now it’s treated like this "confidential" info that even the mods can't access (unless I’m just totally clueless and missed where to find it

Honestly, that’s fine by me. ☕

If they changed it, then everyone hanging out on this forum who has moderator privileges could basically track my every move and see exactly which threads I’m lurking in.🤣

I mean, if Kimi Raikkonen actually wants to snag a championship before he hangs it up, he's basically stuck driving for Ford 😂

mistybear87 said:during that race, our traffic absolutely spiked. I think at one point we had over 25 forum users on the PDF simultaneously. We've never even cracked a dozen 😉
before.
which just goes to show there's a huge crowd of fans following the sport who aren't necessarily showing up (or at least, not becoming) ☕

Does anyone have the stats on what our peak concurrent user count was this year versus our daily average?
That column tracking thread views isn't really a great metric for actual traffic, since the same regulars end up opening the same threads a million times.

And honestly? The only way they could've snagged a win was maybe one race back in 2005. 😁

know, SAD is supposedly the "most attended," but honestly, it doesn't look all that exciting to me😁
...wait, was that the race where they didn't even use tires?🤣

Yeah, that was exactly the one where Schumacher pulled off one of those absolute legendary wins from his career 🙏

I can't believe I'm actually doing this. Honestly, my bad for being such a mess lately. I know I haven't been around much, but I’m finally back in the mix! It feels good to be here again. Let's get into it. kaže:
You guys up for crunching some stats with me?😁
Come on, man, this isn't exactly your first rodeo.😁

Since you're already bringing up the stats... 😁

Here’s the breakdown of the top 10 most popular threads ever—basically the heavy hitters with the highest post counts since we first kicked things off on the Formula 1 subforum back in December 2002 through October 2008.

SAD 2005. - 1257
2. BRAZIL 2007. - 930
Singapore 2008. - 715
Belgium 2008. - 684
5. CANADA 2008. - 654
Europe 2007. - 637
Italy 2005. - 616
Spain 2008. - 599
9. AUSTRALIA 2008. - 596
Europe 2005. - 586

So, looking at the data here, we've only got five races from 2008 to look at—and hey, that season isn't even over yet! Meanwhile, every other year combined barely manages to put that many drivers in the top 10. If you actually follow the numbers, it’s pretty clear this PDF is blowing everything else out of the water. It’s easily more popular and getting way more eyes on it than anything we've seen in the last six years. Fact is, this thing is busier than ever. ☕
