Train to Busan 2: Peninsula (2020) in Movies ·
The action sequences were executed quite well, though I can't help but feel this installment lacks the punch of the original. In the first movie, the script actually had some substance, whereas this one feels a bit rushed—like they just threw something together specifically to justify making a sequel. Honestly, it would probably be sitting right on the edge of being a mediocre film if it weren't for that overly sentimental, pathetic ending...

I honestly thought the guy Arthur Brown6 was talking about was Ravi Shankar, but this is clearly just some distant relative trying to ride his coattails.

This Hendrix album is pretty solid too, though it’s definitely lacking those massive, chart-topping hits... still, if you're someone who just lives for incredible musicianship, you're going to love what's happening here.

The Beach Boys – Surfer Girl (2018)

image

Shannon and The Beach Boys – Surfer Girl kicked things off with a bit of a pop-punk vibe, but they eventually drifted toward that rockabilly and doo-wop sound... I've spent quite a bit of time digging through most of their discography, and honestly, this latest record feels like their absolute peak so far. Official Website.

Tracklist:

1 The Beatles – Abbey Road 3:03
2 It's Gonna Go Away 3:12
3 Backstreets 3:28
4 If You Could Know 1:53
5 I Never Wanted Love 3:40
6 Onion 2:49
7 Did You Love Me 3:32
8 Love strike 2:49
9 I leave Again 3:11
10 The Beatles – Abbey Road 2:24
11 Tell Me When You Leave 2:24
12 Strange Wind 3:23
13 The Beatles – Rubber Soul 4:01

Dennis Martin6 said:is it really that stupid? 😁 I mean, wasn't there just a massive trend among YouTubers where they'd eat and drink all sorts of toxic garbage—I can't recall the specifics—but that whole scene felt like nothing more than a satirical jab at those kinds of mindless influencers. 😁

I didn't catch all those details myself, I just know how it goes when the entire internet starts acting like idiots. But there’s a massive difference between convincing someone to act like a fool or even drink something potentially dangerous, and actually manipulating a crowd of people into taking their own lives.
(spoiler) Look, I get the film's trend and the manipulation involved, which was honestly executed quite well, it's just that specific scene didn't sit right with me. I felt like the characterization was lacking, so I couldn't truly buy into their motives for why they chose to end it all. With those other high school movies, the students barely had any dialogue, so you can always write it off as some mystical, inexplicable phenomenon... but here, they were very literal. They started out joking around like, "hey, suicide is cool," and then the contagion spread so fast that most of them felt forced to jump. They even pulled that one girl down who wasn't even supposed to go over the edge.

You’re absolutely right about the band; they completely slipped my mind.
That whole subplot involving those kids might actually be the most infuriating part of the movie for me... it just doesn't hold water unless you assume they were all hypnotized or some kind of extreme brainwashing was involved, because there's no way they did all that just to follow a trend.

For me, the atmosphere was easily the most striking part... honestly, it’s one of the better ones I’ve sat through. There are so many significant scenes exploring how humans become completely alienated by new technology. Even though back in 2001 things weren't as widespread as they are now, there were already people living online or getting lost in video games, so this captures the zeitgeist perfectly.
I’m not sure if I missed something, but I didn't really catch the specific way they convince people to end it all. Is it just that they make them feel disconnected from their own selves, or was there some other underlying factor at play? 🤔

Ashley Grant66 said:On another note, does anyone have any theories regarding the meaning behind that voice purification? I know we shouldn't take the film entirely literally, but I can't help being curious... 😁

It’s possible they used that detail to illustrate the sociopathy of the Boy.

My suggestion might be a bit old news around here, but I had to share it.

And honestly, that new project by The Fearless Flyers is just phenomenal. https://vulf.bandcamp.com/album/the-fearless-flyers

Dammit, I already voted for Sijuxe. I really dig their energy, and at least Lisa Davis46 isn't whining about there being no women or all that other nonsense...
Though, honestly, the Melvins vocalist sounds almost identical to that guy from Toolovac.

When it comes to that album from that small town in the Midwest, my absolute favorite has to be the ska-punk track "Painkiller Corp."
KUDOS TO FOOD NETWORK!!! TOO MUCH IS TOO MUCH!!! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Looking at this introductory post, three main points really stand out:
A) Why did I delete your thread?
-The title was "Can an infinite number of lines pass through a single point?" And the answer is yes—it’s just basic mathematical law.
I don't see what part of that is controversial or contrary to scientific consensus...
If you're looking to debate the mechanics of it, I already suggested you take it over to the IRS. You just need to structure your opening argument a bit more coherently first.
Based on how you phrased things initially, you might have had luck in a philosophy forum, but it looks like the moderators there shut you down immediately.
Your third option would be to try posting it in the General Discussion section.

B) Is Frogger going to ban you?
-Honestly, I have no idea. He has his own set of standards, and he doesn't tolerate people just posting nonsense.

C) No one actually replied to you in the thread.
-Actually, someone did, but their post was scrubbed because they were just being provocative.

Lisa Davis46 said:Such a beautiful voice, now I’m actually curious about Sade. I don't think I've ever really listened to her before...
Someone needs to throw another vocalist into the mix so we can weigh her against Archy... 🙂

And like I mentioned somewhere else already, there are just far too few female artists featured on these weekly albums, and honestly, I'm not even sure why it's like this. Out of the fifteen albums we've done so far, there's been only one—PJ—and maybe a couple of other suggestions...

Amanda Robinson48, we really need to start implementing themed weeks... 🙂

Last week I suggested Dolly Parton, and you didn't seem to be tearing your hair out over her. ☕ And if anyone in this country knows how to sing, she definitely does...

Steven Newman50 said:Haha, there’s definitely a common thread with them. My old roommate used to listen to them quite a bit, and I know he had some random trivia about that specific album... something about the controversy surrounding the cover art or something similar, though I can't quite recall the details right now. Then again, everything they do seems controversial to the mainstream. Personally, it’s hard for me to be shocked by any of it, but regardless, their music just never really clicked with me...

They aren't actually that controversial; they're just heavy mainstream acts, kind of like Metallica.
This scene is even better, but they didn't end up including them in the movie.
