Watching movies on a phone: How is it? in Movies ·
The second you find yourself scrolling through your phone during a movie, it’s a dead giveaway... either that specific flick is a total snooze-fest, or you just don't have the patience for cinema anymore.

-------------
And honestly, who cares about a phone? If we're talking about screen size for watching movies, the limit should basically be infinity...

A fresh single just dropped. If you ask me, this feels like nothing more than a lightweight summer track, and honestly, it’s probably their weakest release to date...

During those first few tracks on the initial listen, I’m getting heavy Type O Negative vibes... honestly, there are moments where I could almost swear it was actually them singing.

Chris Myers said:Honestly, this whole distinction between "folk" music and "pop" or "entertainment" music is just nonsense... all music belongs to the people and all music is meant for enjoyment! Here in the States, country music is the folk music of cowboys and various other types of Texans, blues is the folk music of Black Americans, reggae is the folk music of Jamaicans, and so on... so when someone walks up to me and claims they don't like folk music but they absolutely adore blues, rock, reggae, country, or whatever else... it’s like telling me you don't like poultry but you love chicken. 😬The hypocrisy is unreal!

I can get drunk and have a blast listening to all kinds of "party-folk" from every corner of the globe—from the Irish and Jamaicans to Americans, Portuguese, and even folks from the North America, especially Mexicans... 🙂Whenever I hear a "Mexican girl" song, my hand just starts reaching for the bottle automatically! 😁

For an American, folk is what you'd call artists like Bob Dylan... singer-songwriters who actually write their own stuff. It's a funny bit of logic, isn't it? image

Crypt Sermon – The Ruins of Fading Light (2019)

image

Crypt Sermon return with their highly anticipated The Ruins of Fading Light! Following up on their massive 2015 debut, Out of the Garden, this new record feels like a deep dive into existential dread, all wrapped up in these haunting, ancient vibes from some forgotten dark age... The songwriting really digs into the friction between faith and blood, survival and ego, life and everything we lose along the way. You've got these massive, crushing riffs clashing against these quiet, lonely acoustic passages, pushing the boundaries of what epic doom and heavy metal can actually be. Even as Crypt Sermon march onward, there’s this persistent, heavy feeling hanging over everything, like they're telling us, "We're doomed." Once again, we have the expertise of Arthur Rizk (Power Trip, Eternal Champion, Sumerlands, and more) handling the recording, mixing, and mastering over at Creep Records.

Tracklist

1. The Ninth Templar (Black Candle Flam) 05:05
2. Key of Solomon 05:54
3. Our Reverend's Grave 07:09
4. Epochal Vestiges 01:49
5. Christ is dead 06:39
6. The Snake Handler 09:11
7. Oath of Exile 01:46
8. Enslave The Heathens 01:16
9. Beneath The Torchfire Glare 07:23
10. The Ruins of Fading Light 08:51

Personally, I find this album pretty easy to listen to; it doesn't feel heavy at all, even if you can sense a bit of that signature "more drama" creeping in. The production is top-tier—it honestly feels like they obsessed over every single tiny detail. While there are a few other decent melodies scattered throughout, Strangelove is really the only standout hit on the whole thing.
I managed to pick up the 18-track version, which runs just long enough that you can tell they were pushing the absolute limit of what a CD can hold.

Gerald Jackson48 said:Does anyone else ever stop to think about how Depeche Mode served as such a massive blueprint for an entire spectrum of rock and metal bands, ranging from Deftones and Tool over to Nine Inch Nails and beyond... Or even that story about some groupie bragging on social media about catching Trent Reznor singing those specific lyrics under the shower after an erotic night together: “ … Oh, give me the beat, boys, and free my soul
I want to get lost in your synth pop
And drift away”
…

Sure, but the lead singer of Dubriv is a literal dwarf. 😁

What’s the deal with the compilation status here? Some sources claim this is a studio album, while others call it a compilation... Personally, I suspect it might actually be a studio effort, given that most of these tracks originate from their first two albums, but the production quality is so abysmal that listening to it is honestly borderline unbearable...

Alright, here is a quick breakdown on how to get this done.

Step 1. - Head over to https://postimages.org/

Step 2. - Just click on the "choose image" button...

Step 3. - Locate the specific file you want from your hard drive, select it, and hit "open" on the right side.

Step 4. - Once that's finished, you'll be presented with a sharing link. Copy that URL, go back to the forum, click on "", and paste it in there. Make sure you're grabbing the direct link that ends in .jpg or .png or something similar...

While we wait for them to get back, there's actually a pretty decent workaround if you don't want to rely on Google... Just try typing "term + site:reddit.com"

Here is what I found for Manchester City and the Ford Fusion.
Hyenas (1992) in Movies ·
I'm feeling the exact same way about it. It’s basically just a deep dive into human greed and whether people will eventually devolve into pure animals—basically Hyenas—if you provide enough incentive...
Regarding the characters, I was a bit lost on that whole situation with the former judge who’s now working for Linguère Ramatou. I ended up binge-watching it three times right before bed, so some of the finer points got a little fuzzy, but there was that one scene where he was explaining how he presided over a case back when Linguère was still young. That part just doesn't track for me, considering he's actually twenty years younger than her. 🤔

A truly stellar film. 👍

Whether you’re looking for folklore or a deep thematic core, it delivers on every front. It’s excellent.

The setting is an African village or small town, but honestly, you could transplant this entire plot to any corner of the globe. You’d only need to find a place struggling with poverty to make it work.

🙏

By the way, don't expect a single laugh out of this; there isn't a shred of comedy to be found.

Oh, it definitely has humor, but it's satire—that specific brand of comedy where you aren't exactly supposed to be laughing out loud...

I can't quite make heads or tails of what you're trying to get at here... it looks like just a link to a site for language translation services, which feels a bit out of place without any context or actual discussion to go along with it. If there was supposed to be a question about using these tools for American English nuances or perhaps a critique of how they handle local slang versus formal grammar, I'd certainly be interested in diving into that... but right now, it's just a lonely URL floating in the void, leaving me wondering what the actual point of the post was intended to be...

You just don't get it; the first half of my sentence, everything before the comma, is enough to guarantee they die. The rest isn't even relevant at this point, but it certainly doesn't make things easier for them. You can't just leap from a vehicle traveling 93 miles/h and expect to walk away. Snow isn't some yoga mat, and it isn't going to cushion a fall like that. Plus, the ground isn't perfectly flat everywhere, so there's a massive chance they'd slam straight into a rock...

Have you ever actually tried jumping from a Speed traveling at 93 miles/h onto a thin layer of snow in the middle of nowhere, where you'd have to trek for hours just to reach the nearest town?

The action sequences are expertly directed, and the atmosphere they build is just spot on. I can honestly say this ranks right up there in my personal top tier of action movies—not quite reaching the level of absolute perfection like Die Hard, but damn close. Toward the end, watching Jon Voight go absolutely ballistic during those train scenes, he reminded me so much of another iconic role played by a certain actor, though the specific movie is escaping me right now... I did catch two little logical hiccups, though, which isn't really a dealbreaker for an action flick. (SPOILER)(1. That moment when the runaway train slices through the locomotive like a hot knife through butter and somehow just keeps rolling along smoothly, and 2. When Jon Voight is fighting his way toward the engine and at one point he’s just dangling underneath, scraping against the tracks—there is no way that's physically possible.)
Now that I've sat through it, I find myself wondering how on earth Akira Kurosawa would have handled his own version of this story...
