once you've got that, just type in your checking account number. You can probably leave the extension blank.
Which bank should I choose for a new account? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
That’s fine, I guess, but he didn't say he actually LIVES and WORKS abroad—just that he stays outside the US.

Which basically means he could be traveling to another country every month on vacation, and I don't think you can just waltz in and open an account like that.

My wife worked overseas once—her company sent her out—and they were pretty clear about her opening an account at a local bank there to get her paychecks deposited.

Maybe his company just didn't bother explaining things to ironsurfer12, I don't know.

I'd say yes!

Are you even a US resident? Do you actually have a legal address here? If so, then go check out the Foreign Exchange Act :

II. 7. Deposit Services

Resident Deposit Services

Article 29.

The Federal Reserve determines the conditions under which residents, excluding banks, may open an account and hold funds in an offshore account.

So, maybe talk to the Federal Reserve. They might let you open one. And look, don't get mad at me, I'm just saying what I know. If I'm wrong, my bad.

I don't get it. Are you actually publicly asking people to help you with illegal stuff?

What is wrong with you? It's a good thing you didn't ask for tips on how to rob a convenience store because you're broke and need a hand since you've already done it before... 👎

Maybe just run down to Chase and see what they can actually do for you 🙂

From what I gather, you can't really deal with assignments or factoring until you actually have a receivable on the books. But, I guess you could head to the bank right now to see what your loan options look like and if they’re going to demand extra collateral besides just an assignment and a promissory note

Also, check if Company B is even willing to sign off on an assignment. If they do, they aren't paying you anymore—they're sending that money straight to the bank to cover the loan. Just a heads up: with an assignment, you’re still the one on the hook. If Company B flakes after 120 days, the bank is going to come after them, but if that fails, they'll just come for you instead 🙂
There's definitely risk involved. Though, since the bank is part of the equation, companies usually pay up because they don't want to get on a major lender's bad side.

Fingers crossed.

Heh, I think we need more info here.

Has the shipment actually gone out and was the invoice sent?

When does B. Company B actually want to pay? What’s the net term on the goods?

If it’s only 10 days, I guess you'll have a hard time finding any bank willing to finance a client on such a short leash.

Anyway, it's possible for Company A to get a short-term loan from a bank, provided that B. Company B is actually legit (ideally they use the same bank) and agrees to sign an assignment or a cession agreement. It all just depends on how the bank sees things. Interest rates are steep, though—probably hovering around ten percent annually.

A promissory note is a bit more complicated, and I doubt a massive corporation would just hand one over to a "small" outfit like yours. Then again, if you do have a note and they miss the deadline, you’ve got other options... 😉

First aid kit essentials... in Economy ·
Look, I know 😉 I already picked up one for my car, but then I realized you can find them way cheaper online than at a Shell station.

Lucky for me they haven't made fire extinguishers mandatory for small businesses yet, otherwise I'd be stuck buying the smallest 😁

You don't actually need employees to run a business. I guess the only catch is that if you're the director, you can't claim unemployment benefits after finishing school. Also, running a company with zero staff isn't really worth it from a tax perspective.

I don't get it, why wouldn't it be worth it for taxes? Maybe paying corporate tax and just pulling the cash out costs less than paying a full salary. Or maybe you're thinking about travel expenses or gas money?

I mean, who actually wastes their time using online banking anymore? 😁😁😁
Huh?

Can someone ask a simpler question?

If you're looking for insurance from some company, my advice is to ask for a promissory note instead. Just pick one up at Wells Fargo and fill it out—it tells you exactly what goes where—or have them do it and get the signatures notarized. A promissory note has to be notarized by a notary public.

Now, if someone is asking you for insurance, try to "slide" them a promissory note instead. How you fill it out... I guess I'll have to check since there are a few different versions. And those don't even need to be notarized. You can just grab them at Wells Fargo too.

Starting an LLC: Where to begin? in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·

I don't want some random name; I want something that actually relates to what I do. It's a small business, so coming up with an amazing brand isn't exactly my priority. I just want it easy. If I'm in the news, people should know it's about Tantra, not just some local dive bars.

I get it, but maybe look at it from another angle. There are plenty of huge companies out there with names that have nothing to do with their industry. Like Apple, for instance.

I don't sign everything with a corporate seal, and it’s not like I can just go out and get a whole new website, shop, and all my branding under a different name. My niche is super specific, and honestly, I doubt anyone outside the industry even knows what we do. I just need my name to show up correctly on the first association, and that's basically it.

Fine. Just check out www.warpstudio.com

My setup is tiny and I'm really not considering changing it now. Everything was fine before, but then a judge sent it back twice because it didn't meet his specific requirements—which he seems to make up as he goes along.

Yeah, I know how that goes. I got lucky because the guy who helped us set up the LLC does this all the time, so he knows exactly how to make sure things pass through without any issues.

Hannah Davis18 said:Yeah, but my official seal has to show the actual company name, so I can't just put "computers and stuff."

Man, don't overthink it. Why are you even stressing about a stamp? Just get a tiny one where the name is barely legible... it's not like you're trying to build a "brand" with a rubber stamp. 😕 I mean, how many people actually look at what's on a corporate seal anyway? Besides, when you sign things, you just sign over the stamp and call it a day.

Don't get hung up on the legal name.
Just register your LLC under whatever, then build your actual brand around a totally different name that doesn't have to match the official paperwork.

For example, that famous "Tantra" spot in downtown Chicago is actually registered under some random corporate name like Bircevi Holdings or something.

danaye,

I think I saw your username over by the entrance under the "unclaimed" list—why didn't you show up?
I mean, Sid is the man, and honestly, he was pretty hilarious. The only one who let me down was Linden with that performance.

I have no clue why the squad didn't catch fire. Maybe it’s just because it's the first time and everyone was playing it safe (some people wouldn't even use their handles).

Anyway, Parsifal, you really should've shown up.

Man, I'm bummed I missed out on Ravana and didn't get to see Dijimidi either.
Parsifal, look, just check who actually won the award and why. I guess you don't really expect me to act like Kim Kardashian and give a play-by-play of everything from the moment I stepped into the factory until the very last second of leaving... 😲
The prizes were just free data from Verizon, some forum t-shirts, and these random certificates. They said photography was "forbidden," though I saw people snapping pics, so maybe something will pop up somewhere eventually.

I have no clue who grabbed his prize, but they did mention anyone could pick it up on his behalf if they wanted...
