Peter Green said:In that case, go with this one. You can probably snag it online for around $270. It’s still FHD resolution, but on a curved 27" screen, you won't notice the pixel density issues nearly as much as you would on a 32"...
Peter Green said:Running FHD on a 32" monitor is a mistake. Not a great choice at all. If you sit even slightly close, you're going to be counting individual pixels... 😁 For an FHD setup, stick to a 24-inch screen if you want it to look decent.
You didn't mention what kind of budget we're working with here. If you can swing QHD resolution, I’d honestly suggest this 27" model instead. It'll run you maybe a hundred bucks more, but it's worth every penny. https://www.amazon.com/MSI-WQHD-Optix.../dp/B07MW4RZGS
My budget is $300. Between the new PC (which isn't even fully assembled yet 😁 ), two desks, extra peripherals, and two gaming chairs, most of my money is already gone...
So basically, I just need to make sure it's higher than 1920x1080?
@Peter Green/">@@Peter Green - I can see you actually know your stuff, so I've got a question
AOC C32G1 31.5" curved 27" VA LED FHD (1920x1080) FreeSync 1440 Gaming monitor. (VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort) - Black
What’s your take on this monitor? I’m looking at pairing it with an AMD Ryzen 5 3600 and an RX 5700 XT...
Or if you have something else to suggest—the main thing is that it needs to be curved and at least 27". I'm shopping around the States, so I'll just hunt for whatever deal looks best online...
My oldest son finally confirmed it... he wants a PC under the tree, plus a gaming chair, a desk, all that stuff Then the younger one decided he doesn't have a computer either and wants one too 🤣🤣
Since I'm basically building a full gaming setup now—custom desk and everything—I'm looking at two chairs. For the younger kid, I'll just repurpose my old PC and get him some new peripherals... trying to keep the costs down if possible
Memory, power supplies... I can find those easily or just grab something similar to what's recommended
From what I've read in the reviews, I shouldn't need to flash the BIOS to make it work with an Intel Core i5-9600K. These boards are everywhere, but honestly, finding a good one that actually fits the other components is a real art form😁
****
Intel Core i5-9600K box, LGA 1200
Found these: Intel Core i5-9600K Processor (6C/12T, 35MB Cache, 4.4 GHz Max Boost) - $255
Or Intel Core i5-9600K Processor (6C/12T, 35MB Cache, 4.2 GHz Max Boost) - $210
Is it worth dropping an extra $45? From what I can tell, the only difference is that slightly higher max boost on the pricier one
Second question: if I went with the Intel Core i5-7600K option instead... would the performance hit be noticeably bad compared to the 9600K?
**** Regarding storage—if I just go with a 500GB SSD, what am I actually losing by not having a traditional hard drive alongside it? Movies, music, files... that stuff stays on an external drive anyway, so it won't clutter up the PC
******** And finally, the graphics card: EVGA GeForce RTX 2060
That puts me at around $400-$420 What would be a cheaper alternative that still supports FreeSync? (The monitor I'm eyeing has it)
I know I'm overcomplicating things, but I'm totally out of the loop when it comes to building PCs. Better to ask than to buy something useless
I'm looking to put together a gaming rig for my kid (he's 12)... something that won't feel like ancient history in a year and actually gives me some room to upgrade later on...
He'll mostly be playing shooters—Fortnite is probably going to be 90% of his life, plus Call of Duty, Wolfenstein, and stuff like that.
Of course, I might jump on once in a while to play a strategy game or two😁. For everything else, he’s just got the Xbox One and the PlayStation 5 lying around.
It doesn't matter which shop I use since I'm not living in the States right now, so everything will be ordered online anyway.
I'm also open to suggestions for a mouse, keyboard, and a curved monitor... budget for those extras is roughly $650.
Ideally, I'd love a case with a clear side panel and some internal lighting... you know, all that stuff kids are obsessed with these days.
Congrats to everyone who helped pull this win over the finish line
I’ve got two questions—actually, I have a million, but let's start small:
1) If someone still has an outstanding Swiss Franc loan, can they actually sue the bank based on this ruling?
2) What if the Swiss Franc loan was already terminated due to missed payments and the bank went after the full balance? Can they still sue under this precedent? And honestly... is there even any point in trying?
By the way, if anyone knows a solid lawyer in New York City who specializes in these kinds of disputes, shoot me a DM.
2 I saw a pretty similar article over at the New York Times about that whole "trip" to Chicago back in the 90s... definitely some heavy reading if you're into that kind of thing
Pretty solid movie overall. I definitely agree with what someone above mentioned about Jafar being the weakest link—to me, the casting for that role was just completely off...
Hey everyone, I’ve been scrolling through the last 15 pages or so and I've got a few things on my mind.
1. Everyone keeps talking about these Philharmonic coins. I’ve checked out all the links where people are buying them, but they aren't available here in the States. Does it actually matter which image is on the coin when it comes time to sell?
2. I'm thinking about picking up two or three Philharmonic coins, or maybe just starting with a 1oz bar from an outfit like APMEX, but even they have two different price points listed:
Gold Philharmonic 1/1 - 2019 1.00 oz $1,313.00 $1,344.80
Gold Philharmonic 1/1 - USD 1.00 oz $1,313.00 $1,341.60
Why is one more expensive than the other? It's only a few bucks, but still...
3. A 1oz coin is about ten dollars more than a bar—if they're both the same weight, what's the catch? I'm guessing coins are just easier to flip later on or something...?
Sorry if these sound like rookie questions, I'm just getting my feet wet here.😁
Watched it. It’s a decent enough way to kill two hours if you're bored enough.
At times, it just feels like typical mindless banter between the two leads. The villain isn't half bad, though—kind of like a gritty RoboCop mixed with some tech pulled straight out of a Transformers workshop.🤣
Basically, don't think too hard about it and you'll be fine.😁
I was just watching the Italian Sky Sports feed, and they immediately pulled up footage from some other race where Lewis Hamilton cut into a Red Bull Racing car just like this, yet he didn't walk away with a penalty.
To say they aren't happy with the call would be an understatement... Sebastian Vettel is clearly the class here, while everyone else is just playing second fiddle.
Of course I'm hitting the theater... you need that massive screen just to process the scene where The Rock proves he's physically stronger than a damn helicopter 🤣
The tablets were paid for $333 gross per unit by the same company that placed the order in China and they don't even have cameras 🙏
The government could have easily handled this through the Department of Education. Just reach out to a few suppliers in China and get a quote for 10,000 tablets—with cameras included this time
Good grief, if they had just gone on Alibaba, they probably could have picked them up for at least half the price (shipping costs 😁 included)
Sure, you can make it work without a camera and just use QR codes, but why does everything always have to be done the hard way?
By the way, has any professor here actually laid eyes on one of these tablets? I'm wondering if they come with proprietary software that limits internet access and allows for remote admin control... or if they're totally wide open, letting students install whatever they want and do whatever they feel like
it probably comes down to how they look heading into the game too we definitely won't be able to play as aggressively, whereas say, the Uruguayans can get away with it easily even if they've already got one player on a yellow card
The Spaniards have only picked up one yellow card across three matches. As for the Russians, they had one in their first two games, then things boiled over against Uruguay with three cards issued—including two for Smolnikov...
We've got Kuipers officiating today. So far, he's handed out cards in two matches: Brazil vs Costa Rica, where he gave out 3 cards (two to Brazil after some heavy protesting and one to Costa Rica for wasting time) Egypt vs Uruguay, where he pulled out 2 cards late in the game, specifically in the 93rd and 96th minutes.
I don't see the Spaniards suddenly turning aggressive out of nowhere. If anyone’s grabbing a card, it’ll probably be Costa, but the Russians likely learned their lesson after that Uruguay match and will try to keep it clean...
Doesn't really matter. Especially since they won't even know what winning first place actually gets them at that point...
You're tripping. They'll know damn well if taking first place means facing Brazil in the quarterfinals or if second place puts them there instead. Whether they end up facing Senegal vs Japan or Colombia in the round of 16... honestly, it's all pretty much the same...
Half the Super Bowl is behind us, and honestly, my betting has been decent so far... I'm sitting in the green right now, with 47 long-term bets still live. Obviously, not everything is going to hit, but if even five or six pull through, it’ll be a hell of a ride...
Today I’m looking at Iran vs Portugal for more goals in the second half. I’m expecting a scoreless first half, then seeing Iran go all out in those last 15-20 minutes, leaving space for a Portugal counter-attack goal...
Mexico vs Brazil—over 3.5 goals. The Mexicans look like they might fall apart, and Neymar seems to have finally broken through whatever mental barrier he had. Besides, after two rounds, Brazil is the team with the most shots (43), with 13 hitting the target...
Mexico, I'm with you on that one... As for Germany—the only thing I’d touch is the under or an X2. The Germans just don't inspire any confidence lately...
