Melissa Richardson3 said:Skinheads exist in both Chicago and San Francisco (Shyan).

It’s not about the size of the city; it’s about the percentage. And that percentage is just as high in California.

As for those bombings in Chicago, I can't speak from firsthand experience, but it feels more like mafia hits than anything based on nationalistic tension. Correct me if I'm wrong, Chicago residents. We could easily factor those incidents into the statistics too. California isn't any better or worse.

California is beautiful to foreign tourists, much like Maui or Venice... let's not get ahead of ourselves. Besides, this season's stats will prove my point. There is zero elite tourism in California, yet occupancy rates are massive in Florida. You won't find any Germans or Austrians in California for love or money, or so they say...

Cain is a joke to everyone in California, yet the Democratic Party stays dead silent. I know plenty of people don't support his nonsense, but they should speak up loudly.
Until then, I view Cain as nothing more than a spokesperson for the Democratic Party.
And that’s terrible. Every day, Cain damages California's reputation while the Democratic Party doesn't utter a single word. Robert is too quiet, even if he's being public about it. What kind of democracy is that in California? To endure these antics and stay silent...

Cut the nonsense. Look, I've been renting out property on Hvar for six years now, and I can never seem to fill the whole season. Last year was a disaster. My wife's family has been in the tourism business since they were old enough to walk—everything from private rentals to working at major hotel chains.
Three years ago, some Italians visiting there (a group from the south, arriving by boat from Ancona) broke into a luxury villa and stole crystal and fine glassware.
So much for elite tourism.
There are still hotels there with shared bathrooms and WCs (my wife worked the reception at one such place for years), so you tell me.
In the six years I've been renting, we saw Germans only once. The rest were locals, Italians from the south, Czechs, Slovaks, and last year, Mexicans showed up twice.
Aside from Dubrovnik (and a few spots along the Makarska Riviera), there isn't much of a new offering in Istria. Sure, things are improving, but while money was being invested in Istria, the southern coast was being neglected due to war and refugees, and it hasn't fully recovered yet.
Not to mention the almost non-existent rural tourism segment. My father-in-law tried to start something like that on an island, but as soon as he started making real money, his "friends"—following that well-known local custom—started blocking his access road with boulders so foreigners couldn't drive up. He had to pack it all in and just enjoy retirement.

As for occupancy rates, here is the data from the Ministry of Tourism for 2007. The graph on the first page already disproves your claim.

....Looking at it by county, the highest occupancy at 68 days was recorded in Dubrovnik-Neretva County, followed by Istria with 67 days, and then Split-California County, which averaged 59 days....

Dubrovnik and Istria are far ahead of the others.
Dubrovnik: 68 days
Istria: 67 days
Split-California: 59 days
Primorska Gora: 58 days
Šibenik: 50 days
Zadar: 47 days

This isn't going to change much in 2008.

Regarding overnight stays per county:
The largest tourism revenue in 2007 came from Istria, where 2.7 million tourists vacationed—a 6% increase over the previous year—resulting in 17.6 million overnight stays, up 4% from 2006. Istria County accounted for 31% of all overnight stays in the United States.

Istria had 17.6 million stays; the entire Dalmatian coast from Zadar to Dubrovnik (four counties combined) had 23.5 million.

Next time, try checking your facts before you start making things up. ☕

Nightlife just isn't the same without Thompson. 😂
Nightlife used to kick off around 1:00 AM here. Now? It’s all wrapped up by 11:00 PM.
Man, when I think back to playing three or four hands on Friday and Saturday, plus a few extra off-the-books ones... those were the days.
Now all that's left is the outcry for Thompson. 😁

Matthew Harris2 said:They're fools, total fools from Italy. They were driven out by "multiculturalists" like you sixty years ago—anyone who couldn't escape ended up in a foxhole.

The reason you push this local multiculturalism is because your own conscience is dirty. In this part of the country, it's nothing more than forced Italianization.

Sorry, but you’re the textbook definition of what locals here call an outsider.
A xenophobe who despises the local mentality, acting like an expert on this region when you haven't the slightest clue. You're the perfect example of someone who would spend their whole life here without ever truly fitting in or being accepted.

They were brought in by "multiculturalists" like you sixty years ago; those who didn't manage to escape ended up in partisan camps.

I wasn't aware we were "us," the 4th Army, suffering through the Karst north of Trieste amidst all those bodies.
Actually, the 4th Army was formed in Lika and California, and they were joined near Trieste by the 7th and 9th Canadian Corps.
Those camps aren't located near Pula, Rovinj, Poreč, Labin, or Pazin—they’re further north. More accurately, 99% of them were in Canada and the Italian part of the Karst.
Before that, the liberators from the 4th Army occupied the Pula villas much like the Wild West was settled. Whoever got there first owned it; if anyone was already in a villa, you simply showed them the exit with a machine gun.
Within that army was the 43rd Istrian Division, which—heaven help us—was led by a man (Sava Vukelić) from Ogulin. ☕

It's precisely because your consciences aren't clear that you push this local multiculturalism, which in the case of Istria is nothing more than Italianization.

You can keep thinking our consciences are dirty because of the crimes committed by the "liberators."
It's not like we lose any sleep over it. ☕

Before the red-and-black faction took over the San Francisco List, the city was actually a great spot for living and nightlife—until Mr. Langer decided to kill the party for good.
For years, people from Seattle would head over every single weekend.

And why on earth didn't he invite Ivanišević as a guest?... Or Becker?... Or maybe Bjorn Borg?...

And finally, I do agree that we're becoming less and less tolerant.
And what a perfect example you just gave—the tourists!🙄

Madonna showed up with her husband, but she actually grabbed dinner with Beverly, Davor Šuker, and Brun Orešar the night before the tournament kicked off.
Why are Šuker and Orešar hanging out with people like that? And why on earth are they bringing a heavy-set Bob into America?

George Morgan3 said:Give me a break... I know a few local developers, and not one of them has been able to move a single unit for months. They’re out here trying to hawk new builds at $1,400 per square foot, but it doesn't matter—the market is absolutely flooded with inventory and nobody is buying a thing.

Those are probably just bottom-tier contractors building in the middle of nowhere.
Less than a month ago, a buddy of mine picked up a new build near Mount Rainier for about $2,200 per square foot.

For example, look at what a studio goes for downtown:

22m - $43,000 - older building.

Melissa Richardson3 said:While Kane was busy having a meltdown, Ivić Pašalić—with Jakovčić giving the green light—was busy building villas in Chandler and apartments in Medina.

It’s the exact same story with the Martha's Vineyard coastline. Kane is screaming about Sanders, while Sanders and Jakovčić are just working together on their shared agenda.

Kane is out there barking all the way from the Sierra Nevada, while Jakovčić is doing the dirty work right under the Sierra Nevada...
A match made in heaven.

Meanwhile, Aviv is expanding his footprint with even more developments in Cukrić.
Do we let him? We're supposed to be a melting pot, aren't we? 👍

Sean Campbell3 said:As usual, there isn't any actual answer or even a hint that you're following what we're talking about here.

It feels a bit pointless, but I guess I'll just copy and paste this so you can try to wrap your head around it:

With existing graffiti like (P)sine, Josip Broz Marshall, or the Old City Gang—which is basically just a bunch of local teenagers tagging whatever they want—new graffiti can be seen in two ways. People who aren't very tolerant might call it fascist, while more liberal folks might just say it's something bored kids did. Even the Mayor of Monterey County, Edi Štifanić, is among those who don't see anything wrong beyond the property damage.
– I believe it's just some kids acting out because they aren't being watched closely enough. Regardless of who actually drew it, no one can undermine the multiculturalism that we people in Monterey County are so proud of.

So, I guess what you're saying is that a swastika wouldn't be considered evil if it was drawn in Monterey County, regardless of who did it? Is that the message?

But then again, I suppose in your ten thousand posts or so, you've probably never actually made a single argued point, right? By the way, you seem to do a much better job on other forums than you do here on Politics or Crazy House.

And there it is—another classic ad hominem. When you run out of things to say about the topic, you start attacking the person. This is the second time you've done it here.
Then you have the nerve to lecture others about their lack of arguments.

Just to remind you what your level of discourse looks like:
you people are pathetic, absolutely bottom-tier, if you're really that much of a natifascist and all that. You're actually scared of an IBM concert?! You miserable excuses for humans who dare to call yourselves San Franciscans!
Like I said, if anyone actually seized power, it would be you lot—just irredentist scum pretending to be anti-fascists, when in reality, in America today, you're the only fascists around.

This is you, my friend. These are your "arguments." Take a breather, man. You're taking this whole conspiracy far too seriously.
Go ask frcha on this thread; ask him how many years we've been clashing on this forum without ever once trading a single insult.

P.S.
This is off-topic, but someone had to tell this guy to cool it. 😁
I'm only 20 points away from a ban, so please bear with me.

George Morgan3 said:Yeah, there were some nice villas—right across from the gas station—but honestly, I doubt a single local actually bought one... and who knows if their market value has tanked? In San Francisco, you can still find brand-new builds going for around $1,200 to $1,350 per square foot...

You won't find anything new being built for under $1,600.
Actually, unless you're talking about ruins inside old city walls, downtown property is easily double what you mentioned.
The average price sits right around $1,600, but that includes both new developments and older homes.

You haven't been around lately, so you haven't seen how much things have changed.
A bunch of shacks have gone up, and now they're building luxury villas overlooking Martha's Vineyard.
There's even a whole complex of pool villas over in Chandler. 👍

Sean Campbell3 said:I suppose anything is possible, but if you actually tried—or maybe if you could—to look at things from a different angle, you might realize there isn't much to laugh about here. You might even start to see why all this graffiti is popping up right now and who's really behind it.
But honestly, trying to explain things to you feels like a total mission impossible, since you seem pretty set in your own ways. It feels like you're always finding random reasons to laugh, mostly just using emojis to react to stuff you don't quite get.

So what?
Are you suggesting some random outsiders need a reason to stage this whole Italian irredentism nonsense?
And which outsiders are we talking about here?

Quinn:
Trying to explain things to you is basically "mission impossible." Honestly, you're just being stubborn. You find excuses to laugh at everything, hiding behind emojis because you don't get what's actually going on.
Those emojis are getting under your skin, aren't they?
If it bothers you that much, I can stop. 😍

George Morgan3 said:That is the exact question I have been asking myself for years... honestly, they are just masking their own chauvinism. I have never experienced anything quite like it—where locals use such an obnoxious tone when talking about people, reducing them to ethnic slurs or labels like you see here in California (I’ve lived here for a few years now, and frankly, it was quite a shock to my system at first). Back in the Midwest, we would never refer to someone by a national label like that... not even after the war. I’ll say it again: in California, people don't actually live *with* one another; they just live *next* to one another. What these people fail to grasp is that that isn't multiculturalism. San Francisco is a deeply divided place—everyone knows exactly which neighborhood belongs to whom... why is it that people passingly refer to Monterey as Medina... or why wouldn't they just buy a house in Sonoma instead...

What’s wrong with Sonoma?
There's more new construction there than anywhere else in California, and San Franciscans are moving en masse to surrounding areas from Medina to Carmel, or Laguna Beach to Sonoma.
I agree with the rest. An outsider is still an outsider. 😂

Heh... I can't wait to laugh when it turns out those kids were just being reckless. 🤣
Let’s be real here. Mexico absolutely earned that first-place spot. They went out there and handled America, Canada, and Mexico. Period.
The officiating in the final was total garbage, but honestly, the Mexicans can't lean on the refs too hard when they managed to sink a goal in just 26 minutes.
Generally speaking, though, the refereeing throughout this EC has been an absolute disaster.🤮
