To feels more like bipolar disorder than just depression...
Waking up gasping for air in Health ·
It’s happening more and more often lately.
I’ve dealt with the choking sensation myself, maybe this helps...
Let's vote for a Psychology subforum! in Feedback & Suggestions ·
First off, we need to clear up the confusion between psychology and psychiatry.

Look, psychiatrists are medical doctors. They go through medical school and then specialize. Psychologists study psychology. Psychiatrists can prescribe meds; psychologists can't. When it comes to diagnosing issues, that’s really more of a psychiatrist's job. That’s why I suggested a psychology subforum... please just take that into account.

Giving advice to someone struggling with neurosis by suggesting they take a sedative like Xanax might be medically sound, but it definitely doesn't fall under the umbrella of psychology.

Psychiatry is a medical field. Maybe it would make sense to rename "Health" to "Medicine" and keep it there, then specifically open up a space for psychology.

Nicole Martinez76 said:After all that arguing with my insurance doctors who just kept insisting I was fine and handing me antibiotics... they basically told me I was being too "anxious." Meanwhile, I'm literally choking on this cough. This weekend was absolute hell. I ended up seeing a private specialist and had my thyroid checked since everyone kept telling me to get it looked at. Thank God it wasn't that. It's actually a bacterial infection. They put me on a block, Franklin, and Biogen. We'll see how it goes in two weeks. The doctor says I'll feel like a new person, but we'll see...
👋

So, how's it going?

I've just come to realize this probably isn't even bacteria. A few seconds ago, I caught my breath and almost suffocated. I don't know what's happening in my lower airways, but sometimes—I don't even know if I'm breathing in too fast or out too fast—it feels like something just suddenly blocks the air from getting to my lungs...

Nicole Martinez76 said:I wasn't at the allergist just now, it was actually a few years ago... this hasn't ever happened to me before.

..it's awful, I just had a choking spell and I don't think it's ever been this bad, God help us... it's terrifying when you feel helpless and suddenly realize how much you love being alive 🙂

I really think you should swing by the nearest ER and get checked out again. Just to be safe.

edit: Also, when does the choking happen? While you're trying to sleep? When you're running? Is there any pattern? How do you feel right before it hits?

No, I'm not really feeling it anymore. Let's just say...
During that one week, I had two episodes where I felt like I couldn't breathe for a while, but then things settled down and it hasn't happened since. Well, except for that one time a couple of months ago in the high school hallway like I mentioned on the thread, but that was just a one-off. Now, I'm extra careful about how I breathe so I don't choke—because if I do, the choking starts. Whenever my throat feels dry or I can't swallow phlegm, I just grab some water or gargle. I've been taking multivitamins, too.

Did you end up seeing an allergist? Anything?
Shortness of breath in Health ·
Man, I went through the exact same thing.
Check this thread / might help you out

The antibiotics helped settle things down a bit, but I realized I really need to stay on top of my water intake. Also, definitely stay away from hard candies... they absolutely wreck my throat.

It’s more likely it came from your old man...

I don't know about all that. I just know it's been in the house ever since your mom showed up for her "visit."

easy fix for that...
just use some Vaseline next time...

Since you're clearly such an expert on anal sex, I'll definitely take your advice! Look at me, already rubbing Vaseline all over my dick!

I gotta admit, anal sex was such a workout it actually gave me muscle fiber tears! But now, after popping some Advil (took 5 of them), I'm ready for round two!!

Thanks, guys!!

So I told my buddy I was rubbing acetylsalicylic acid on my muscle, and he basically called me an idiot... said I should use citric acid instead since the pH is lower.

My hands are a little sticky from all this lemon juice now, but I'm applying it!
Muscle Cramp Help! in Health ·
I tried dissolving some acetylsalicylic acid in water and rubbing it on my muscle. Nothing happened.

Uh, yeah.
So just aspirin and hot water. Not exactly what I'm craving in this heat...
Okay.

Sorry if I missed it, but I couldn't find 😢
How do you actually deal with muscle fibers? A buddy suggested acetylsalicylic acid, but none of the local pharmacies have it in stock, and I'm too embarrassed to try messing around with salt and ice water...

Seriously though, what works against muscle fibers? Aspirin? Or is there something better out there that hits faster?
Choking on mucus. No jokes. in Health ·
A buddy told me asthma attacks usually happen in stages. Like, you struggle more and more until you just can't breathe at all. That’s not how it works for me though. Out of nowhere, I just... stop breathing.

And this specialist I saw has this specific group for asthma patients. He's a PhD, maybe 35 years old, and he says it isn't even asthma. A woman at the ER thought it might be, said it looked like it, but her findings don't really line up with typical asthma because people with asthma have different blood gas ratios or something like that...

Today.
An attack. It's back. 😢

The guys and I had a free period, so we headed to a local tavern for a drink. I don't know if you guys know what this place looks like, but they have these little green plants all around the tables. So, I'm just sipping my iced tea, heading back toward class... At the school entrance, a buddy offers me some gum. I pop it in, chew it twice, and I'm already halfway up the stairs when suddenly—I choke and I seriously can't breathe, unknown!

I start wheezing like crazy. My friend is right in front of me, but then I realize what's happening and I start sprinting toward the restroom. Well, walking. I can't catch my breath at all. I don't even get why... nothing's stuck in my throat, nothing's lodged there, I just physically cannot inhale. I'm halfway to the bathroom and I realize none of my friends are following me. I look back and see one guy trailing behind. I wave at him because I can't say a word, just making these weird noises...

Get this—it's 6:10 AM, I'm in the busiest hallway in the school, kneeling on the floor gasping for air, and nobody gives a fuck!. Seriously. A friend from the floor below heard me wheezing and came up, but nobody would even open the classroom door or the faculty lounge, which was maybe two feet away from me.

So I'm choking for about 30 seconds right in the middle of the hall. A few friends are around me, someone says this, someone else says that... I finally manage to grab some air and stumble into the restroom. I drink some water. They ask if I'm okay. I tell them I am.

Then I spit out another glob of thick phlegm.

Now I'm asking you guys, what could cause this? I went to the new hospital and the ER. One doctor says asthma, another says nothing. Then there's spirometry, allergy tests... I've done everything (thankfully not a bronchoscopy yet). Where does this come from? Why can't I breathe? Is it possible the gum triggered it? Or those plants at the tavern?

I couldn't believe it was back after a few months... 😢
