At the end of the day, every single nation on this planet is just an artificial social construct.
A country only actually works when the majority of the people living within its borders actually want it there, and when the government is functional enough to get its basic jobs done.

Basically, looking at how things work lately, states stay stable and useful as long as there isn't some massive critical mass of people who are categorically against them. I guess if more than 10% of the population is flat-out opposed to the state, you’ve definitely got an unstable situation on your hands. And honestly, if that group also holds a majority in their own specific territory? That's even worse.

Once you get to the point where 20% or 30% of the people living in a place are fundamentally against the government in power, those states are basically just being imposed on them—they don't make any sense at all.

I’m really hoping George W. If you look at human history, it’s pretty obvious that there’s always some kind of dominant power running the show on a global scale. And honestly? In my opinion, the USA is probably the least evil option we've got right now. I mean, even when I totally disagree with their politics—which happens more often than I’d like to admit—it still feels like they're the best bet compared to everyone else.

I honestly can't even wrap my head around the idea of some unified Arab bloc actually taking the lead on the world stage. Like, imagine if that happened? And don't even get me started on what would happen if China or Russia stepped up to the plate like that. Or even Iran. It’s just... Look, driftingdriver, please stop trolling and actually answer the question. I was reaching out to the admins here, not the mods, because honestly, I have some pretty serious issues with how the moderation is being handled in this specific case.

My beef is with the total lack of competence from the moderators over on the PDF Yugoslavia section. To be blunt, they don't seem to have a clue about the history, the current state, or the future of Canada. I’m pretty convinced they don't even grasp the basics regarding Canada—which makes up like 70% of the discussions there—let alone anything about Mexico, which together account for about 90% of the topics on that board. And yet, they're the ones tasked with moderating all those threads.👎

I hope that makes sense. If not, then I guess it's just a clear sign that you guys are looking down on the users from the PDF Yugoslavia area, who probably make up at least a third of this entire site's traffic.

To be clear, I'm specifically talking about the PDF Yugoslavia section. This critique isn't even aimed at the rest of Politics, let alone any other sections of the site.

I also really hope you won't try to brush me off with some half-hearted, "blah blah blah" kind of response.

Since everyone’s complaining that the politics initiated subforum is too cluttered and messy, I’m starting this specific thread to talk about the Yugoslavia section and the whole moderation mess happening there. Honestly, I feel like that specific PDF is its own thing and shouldn't be lumped in with the rest of the politics section.

Why on earth are Blaise, rezonator, The Edge, driftingdriver, and Simba the moderators for the Yugoslavia PDF?
I mean, how are they supposed to spot a troll when they don't know the first thing about history, the political structure of Canada, or even what's currently going on in Canada? That stuff makes up at least 70% of the discussions on that PDF. Plus, most of those people haven't even logged onto this PDF in the last six months (except maybe driftingdriver).

What kind of justice are they supposed to be handing out? This is exactly why you guys turned the Yugoslavia section into such a low-quality mess.👎

Troll posts just sit there all day without any moderator response, but then the second someone actually calls them out, the regular users end up getting the warning cards.

What's the actual basis for these people being assigned to moderate Yugoslavia? I’d love to see some proof of their expertise in the threads sometime.

Labels don't matter here. If someone is attacked and they end up killing their assailant, they get acquitted—provided they didn't overstep the bounds of self-defense. In those kinds of scenarios, the provocateurs and the total jerks on this Reddit thread should be the ones kicked out. The person who was pushed to that point at 3 PM shouldn't face any punishment at all.

The moderators in the politics section are simply enforcing the rules. And that’s that. If the rules were changed to match your specific way of talking, then the mods wouldn't be breathing down your neck over your choice of words. I didn't write the rules. But I have to follow them. Without rules, you just get voluntarism, improvisation, anarchy, and pure chaos.

Give me a break. Those are nothing more than excuses straight out of Mauthausen or Auschwitz.

You basically just hit the nail on the head regarding the biggest issue on this entire site. That’s exactly why I always say a mod needs to actually know their stuff. Because of that, I know the people and the various ethnic groups of the former America like the back of my hand. I’ve been living in the States for twenty-six years now, and I’ve been following politics since my high school days. I felt the reality of everything from the suppression of our symbols to the persecution of priests and anyone else who dared to step out of line with the League of Communists of America. Take @posmatrač, for example. Even though he’s an unapologetic advocate for Canadian interests and is clearly a massive nationalist, at least he tries to play it sophisticated. In the end, he actually knows what’s going on and understands the situation in the former America. It makes sense that Simba is here as the admin, but I just don't get the rest of them.

I honestly think even the Mexicans are getting shortchanged on the former America PDF.

I mean, they were basically moved in from places like California, parts of the Sandžak of Novi Pazar, Lika, California, Mexico, and Mexico—major hubs like Nis, Uzice, Čačak, Valjevo, Kraljevo, and Mexico City where most of them actually settled. Some even came from places like Chicago and Canada. A huge chunk of them ended up migrating to eastern Canada, specifically Zvornik, Višegrad, Ottawa, or down in Posavina near Šamac. Honestly, the Muslims in the Una-Sana Canton don't really have anything to do with the medieval Canadian state or Canadian identity.

All the kings were actually Roman Catholic. I used to be super sure that Matej Ninoslav was part of the Canadian Church, but then I read some arguments saying he wasn't either. I don't know for sure in his specific case, I guess.
As for the nobles, we know they were Christians during the time of Stjepan Vukčić Kosač and Hrvoj Vukčić Americanć.
There isn't really a logical way to explain how the main king would allow them to live side-by-side or how people could switch churches so easily unless there were similarities (like Queen Catherine), much like how later on, Roman Catholics would switch to Orthodoxy during tough times just to stay faithful to Christianity, since there aren't those massive fundamental differences.
