Land of the Kroeten! in Close to Politics ·
Look, this song is a total joke, though I have to admit there's a kernel of truth buried in there somewhere. 😁

@FlameThrower, there’s this local musician in my hometown who actually wrote it. 😉
What was the golden age for Americans? in Close to Politics ·
hollowjackal4 said:It’s not that I’m trying to defend them—though I was born in the final years of the USA and have spent basically my entire life here in the States, much like most people in this thread who only know these two versions of the country. But does that mean we aren't allowed to vote for something else?

Sure you can, but let's be honest: you don't actually have a clue what went down during those war years, so I'd say neither you nor I truly grasp whether living through that era was actually worth it.

Instead of asking "What was the best era for Americans?", the question should have been something like, "If you could choose, when would you want to have been born or lived?"... you see where I'm going with this?

For some, they point to Nazi Germany; for others, it’s the old USA... To most Americans, though, it looks like Nazi Germany... especially the younger generation... and now...

They weren't even alive back then, so they haven't got a clue what they're talking about. 🙂

THE LAND OF KROETEN

In a land so grand, like a dreamscape spun,
The nation of Kroeten had finally won.
A people lived there, if you'll take my word,
Known as the Kroetens, the best ever heard.
With oceans and mountains and valleys so wide,
And virtuous people with nothing to hide.
But this great republic was facing a plight,
Caught in a crisis and a terrible fight.
Then a leader stepped up to the front of the line,
United the tribes and made everything fine.
And then, by the will of the people so free,
He was crowned on his throne for all history to see.
From that day forward, for all time to come,
They called him "Your visost, King Kroeten," with a hum.
Things were looking up, quite wonderful indeed,
If only they hadn't listened to fools and their greed.

THE FOOL:
"Oh, listen to your visost, King Kroeten, my friend,
I have an idea on which you can depend.
Our kingdom is struggling, it's poor and it's small!
With a ruler like you, we need fools after all.
It makes perfect sense, let's increase the count,
Screw this whole kingdom, let's give fools the amount!
So, I thought to myself, as a favor to you,
It would be great to hire my nephew, too.
Of noble descent, with pride in his soul,
A goofy, silly guy, out of control—just like me, that's his role.
He’s our own blood, honest and true,
A classic example of a Kroeten through and through.

THE KING:
"You've always been loyal, my foolish old friend,
On your crazy opinions, I know I can depend.
When times were at their worst, you stood by my side,
So I'll grant your request with a sense of pride.
I'll give your nephew a job, it's decided,
To keep me laughing when I'm war-sided.
Give him a two-story villa to stay,
And let him guard my seal every single day."

And so the king hired that fool of a man,
His nephew, his cousin, part of the clan.
Then came the sisters, the uncles, the kin,
The godparents, neighbors, all rushing in.
The king gave them houses and government cars,
And feasts with whole oxen under the stars.
The Kroetens were happy, their status was high,
With one fool per capita, passing them by.
Every man had an office, a place to reside,
Where you'd walk in and find laughter inside. They'd say: 'Come back tomorrow!'
'Tomorrow you must start your queue from the bottom!'
Then they'd laugh loudly: 'Hey, pay the fee!'
You'd go back again, feeling wretched and low,
Only to hear: 'The boss is out, don't you know?'
You'd return once more, defeated and blue,
'New laws are in effect, try next week, it's true!'
You'd show up next week, but a new fool would sit,
'That permit is expired!' they'd joke with some wit. 'The fee isn't valid!'
The people grew restless, they complained to the crown,
But there was one tiny flaw to be found.
The king passed away, leaving the world far behind,
And the people picked a successor, the quickest of kind.
They hoped for a change, believing in miracles grand,
Not knowing a fool wore the crown of the land.

All in all, folks, it's a mess, it's a crime,
Living in Kroeten is losing your mind every time.

🙏🙏🙏

I think it's great. 🙏

How does this strike you guys?... It's pretty spot on, right? 🤣

P.S. Not mine.

Has anyone else actually quit politics besides driftingdriver? 🤔

It’s a real shame... even though we didn't exactly see eye to eye on politics, driftingdriver was a solid guy because he didn't give a damn whether you were left-wing or right-wing; he just went after most the people who actually deserved it.
What was the golden age for Americans? in Close to Politics ·
They were all pretty much on the same level. Honestly, the best times were when the vast majority of the people actually felt heard, rather than just listening to those famous 200 pundits who push narratives into the media that nobody in the real world gives a damn about.

driftingdriver said:...Christianity teaches love, peace, and harmony. Therefore, Christian values can never include: the murder of homosexuals, adulterers...
That is an insult to religious feelings and nothing more than a way to provoke a fight with people who actually practice Christianity.

Kevin Mitchell got banned, and then driftingdriver went over to the corner where the banned users hang out and posted that quote above, so now I’m calling him out directly. Look, driftingdriver, communism as an ideology teaches hatred and killing, and so on... don't compare apples to oranges here. There is a massive difference between what an ideology or a faith is fundamentally based on and how people choose to act on it in the real world.

I think we’ve covered everything here.

In my view, we should be able to discuss the cross just like any other symbol. Unless we aren't actually a democracy, which seems ironic given that the very people calling to ban discussions about the cross are now demanding that we stop talking about it altogether.

The end. 😛

Can we all just stop fighting for one second?

I’d suggest Constantinople reach out to the admin about getting that ban lifted from the Politics forum. Look, he and I don't see eye to eye on half the stuff we talk about, but seeing him get exiled from the Politics section is honestly just ridiculous.

The Moderator won't hand out any sanctions because they claim the "topic is too provocative"...

Look, I’m not a fan of homosexuals myself, but I truly believe that using slurs like that should be treated just like any other insult on this platform...

I'm right there with you.

It’s honestly a joke that Constantinopolov got slapped with a permanent ban on Politics, while all the actual trolls and provocateurs are left running wild without any consequences.

West HB is basically just a clone of one of the moderators, specifically tasked with fanning the flames and poking at certain users to get a reaction...

...it’s all being done as part of a calculated plan.😉

Terry Rodriguez41 said:So, based on what? What’s the endgame here? Are you suggesting we set up some kind of internment camps for anyone who doesn't see things through your specific lens? It seems to me you just want to completely shut down any meaningful discussion regarding the cross—its symbolism, its history, or even the crimes committed under its banner. Honestly, that makes you nothing more than a standard advocate for censorship, no different from that loud minority you mentioned from the former America era... it's not a great look, really. I suspect any free thinker would feel a sudden urge to leave a 🤮 on a comment like this...

I couldn't agree more... they love to preach against dictatorship and talk about how they "fought" for democracy, yet it seems like they don't even grasp the fundamental concept of 🤮

James Fowler52 said:Look, at least he actually knows what’s going on and occasionally steps up to handle his own business. Even if he is nothing more than an unapologetic nationalist and a total advocate for Canadian identity, you can't deny that he actually gets involved. There's a significant number of Muslims represented in that PDF Yugoslavia file, and honestly, it wouldn't be a bad thing to have someone from that community stepping up as a moderator.

Even he’s playing games with the cards. They aren't actually doing their jobs, so they just resort to leveling the playing field for everyone at the end of the day to cover their tracks. 👎

Pa Observer If I’m not mistaken, the moderator is actually a Muslim.😕

Dana Reed4 said:driftingdriver And just imagine, if only by some strange twist of fate, what might have happened if the topic had been about the Red Star instead of this ongoing crisis? I suppose things could have taken a completely different turn, though I can't say for certain.

If we actually had a real democracy here, nobody would be getting shut down; people would just be allowed to argue based on actual arguments.

Are you serious right now? Is that really how you're coming at me? 😁

Look, let's stop trolling for a second and actually say something constructive.😁

Higgs said:I just hope this supposedly "constructive" post was actually logged by the higher-ups, because at this rate, we might actually see your username showing up under "Moderators" pretty soon.

First off, I’ve got way too many strikes on my record to ever be a moderator.

Look, driftingdriver and I don't exactly see eye-to-eye when it comes to politics, but it seems like everyone here is out to get him. It’s funny how you all stay dead silent whenever one of you messes up, only to move right along like nothing happened.

Can we please just stop the coordinated attacks on driftingdriver already? The guy is simply doing his job, plain and simple. If you can't handle his moderation style, there are plenty of other subreddits out there for you... honestly, you guys are being as annoying as a bunch of hens just clucking away incessantly. If you’d all just cut down on the spamming and this mindless garbage, the mods wouldn't have such a hard time, and they might actually be a bit more lenient toward you.

Anyway, that's my two cents. 😉
