I mean, honestly, it really says everything you need to know about that whole "famous" mobilization situation that everyone knows is basically doomed from the start anyway...
Look at what Putin has actually managed to pull off in just six months:
- He basically handed Finland and Sweden over to NATO on a silver platter. - He’s effectively created brand new 746 miles borders right up against NATO territory. - He somehow managed to force a fractured Europe to finally find some common ground. - He’s turned every single EU nation into a massive customer for billions of dollars worth of American weaponry. - Look at Poland—they're building hundreds of miles of wire fencing along the Belarus border and gearing up for total mobilization. - He is bleeding billions of dollars every single day through lost gas revenue. - He’s absolutely gutted his own economy and left an already struggling population even more destitute. - He took people who were practically brothers—these Ukrainian folks—and turned them into his fiercest enemies. - An entire continent that was hooked on Russian gas is now scrambling to find alternatives—and they will find them. - Tens of thousands of young Russian lives have been thrown away for essentially nothing. - Russia has burned through a staggering amount of hardware that they'll be spending years trying to replace—if they can even manage it. - The Russian Army has completely trashed whatever credibility they spent decades building during the Cold War. PLUS At this rate, Ukrainians might not just reclaim their territory back to how it looked before the invasion—they might actually push back and take back what Russia seized back in 2014.
Honestly, if the Americans had planted a deep-cover spy right next to the Russian President, they wouldn't even need to do much—he's doing such a perfect job of weakening Russia in every possible way for decades to come.
I honestly think something was really throwing Sarah off here... right from the moment she was introduced. She didn't even pause for a second—just bolted away from the camera lens immediately. Then, her very first stride the moment she stepped onto the track was way too aggressive; she didn't take even a few seconds to just breathe and find her focus... It’s such a shame because if she’d had a slightly smoother start, she could've been looking at a medal. Not that I hold it against her or anything, though!
Fourth place... honestly, who cares? Huge props to Sarah—there isn't a single soul out there who can say anything bad about you. I’m just sitting here wondering if even one of those 3,800 politicians would actually bother to call you if you had snagged the gold instead—you know, the ones who would be tripping over themselves just to welcome you back to America (their version of "home") if you’d won. If my gut feeling is right and John Doe manages to land in third place—snagging that Goldie—with a score around 21.48 in those final three shot put rounds... Do you think there's a real shot he walks away with the medal?🙂

Look, we put 14 goals past the Spaniards in the first half, while the Germans only managed ten. But here's the kicker: we let in 18, whereas they only conceded 6.
Scoring 14 goals? That’s perfectly fine by me! Especially when you consider our offense completely fell apart right during that stretch where we were getting picked apart by the Spaniards—either from the goal line or on those quick half-court transitions. Man, what a mess. Then, suddenly, the Germans shut down those Spanish passes at the line, their rhythm completely broke, and they realized they didn't have a Plan B whatsoever.
By the way... just imagine the domestic media tearing into the Spanish coach after everyone was praising him so much for not having a backup plan. The funny thing is, he actually did have one (it worked against us!), but for a championship game, you clearly need a Plan C, and that was nowhere to be found. And there he is, supposedly this "world-class" manager.
If Steve had been in the net, we probably would've walked away with a few more easy saves, and that's really the gist of it. It doesn't mean he shouldn't have played—of course he should have, he had to be out there—but his presence alone wouldn't have flipped the entire script of this game.
I ACTUALLY THINK IT WOULD HAVE. If we had just saved 2 of those 18 goals, we’d be looking at being in the absolute worst-case scenario of maybe trailing by 2 at halftime, or potentially even just -1 instead of being down by 4.
Bottom Line: if we want to finally push through that semifinal and grab the gold, we aren't going to do it unless Holman can step up and bail us out with a couple of easy stops or a penalty save. Only then. Keep the discussion focused on the goalkeepers.🙂
