Anyone still running Windows 7? in Software ·
Jason Harris5 said:check out LINK...

QUOTING:

"There is not currently a version of SecureClient that supports Windows 7. Additionally, there is not currently a version of SecureClient that supports any 64-bit version of Windows. Our VPN client for 64-bit Windows is called Endpoint Connect. For now, it officially supports Vista x64, but not Windows 7. I have heard reports that it works on 7, but we do not support it. "

Oh, they’re just wonderful. Really top-tier stuff. You’ve got a manufacturer basically saying, "Hey, I heard our product actually works on Win7, but don't quote us on that." It’s like they were too exhausted from doing zero testing to realize Win7 even existed. 🙄What a joke.

The downside is that the Home Premium edition of this OS doesn't support Windows XP compatibility mode—which would have saved you if SQL Server starts acting up. If things go south, your best bet is just spinning up a virtual machine using free software like Microsoft Virtual PC or Sun Microsystems VirtualBox. Throw XP onto that virtual setup and call it a day.

My Check Point VPN SecureClient isn't working😢
It won't even start the service. I can't tell if it's a 64-bit issue, a Windows 7 issue, or just a perfect storm of both.😁

Usually, those include integrated setups for the network controllers, or you could just grab the network drivers from the disc that came with the board. 😁 I’ve had to manually install network drivers on both Windows XP and Windows 7 (on top of the chipset, audio, and all that other junk) because my LAN is integrated into the motherboard. On the XP machines, it worked without them, but it was pretty glitchy.

No, I picked up a laptop that already has Windows 7 installed with all the drivers handled. My issue isn't hardware; I'm talking about getting a "compatibility problem" error when I try to install SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005.

The new Home Premium edition lacks support for Windows XP compatibility mode—which would have been your easy fix if SQL Server starts acting up. If things go south, though, you can always just spin up a virtual machine using free tools like Microsoft Virtual PC or Sun Microsystems' VirtualBox. Just install XP on the VM and run your legacy stuff there.

So far, so good. It’s actually doing its job. 👍 Sure, the installer threw a dozen "compatibility problem" warnings at me, but honestly? It seems to be running just fine.

I was just sitting here wondering what the hell that x86 directory actually does. 😁

SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 on 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium

I already posted this over in the Programming section, but it looks like the debate is happening here too. So, here’s the deal: I just picked up a laptop that comes pre-installed with Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. My main concern is how—or if—SQL Server 2005 and Visual Studio 2005 will actually run on it, considering they are both 32-bit. What's the move here? Is there anything I need to tweak to ensure total compatibility so I can migrate apps and move database backups back and forth to my old 32-bit Windows XP machines without everything breaking?

Look, I’ve absolutely turned people away if they didn't apply on time or failed to give us a heads-up about a show. Just ask your old newsroom about what happened with Public Enemy. 😬

Not really. Take this recent example, for instance:

And I remember Dragaš getting nothing but bad reviews, to put it mildly. It was a long time ago, sure, but I’ll never forget that "(O)Duran (O)Duran" headline. 😁

And why isn't the Economy subforum the right spot for these discussions? What's your actual criteria for separating "Economics" from the broader "Economy"? How exactly would you draw that line? 😁
Man, that place was legendary. For a venue that size, the concerts were absolutely killer. Cold beer, Mazgoon, and a few other heavy hitters playing in a dive bar with maybe 30 people in the crowd 😁
Susan Clark10 said:Look, I’ll grant you there are luxury condos and overpriced apartments over there, but based on everything I just listed—not to mention that old dive bar back near Sutla 😬—nobody is going to convince me that Martinovka is some high-class neighborhood. 🙂

By the way, you probably remember that little pub on the corner right after school, the one where everyone went to blast old-school rock during the '90s? My brain is totally fried; I can't recall the name...

I’m telling you, Martinovka remains one of the priciest neighborhoods in the US when you factor in land value, price per square foot, and rent alone. Besides, that Sutla spot hasn't existed for years.😛

As for that old-school era, all I remember is nenin cappuccino. 🤷 It was located in that new development near the school; if I recall correctly, they shut it down around 2001.
Susan Clark10 said:I don't see the point; my place is nearly 2,000 square feet and just a ten-second walk from the town square.😁

Besides, it isn't just about the apartments—it’s about the neighborhood. I don't get what would be considered "elite" about Martinovka. Those crumbling sidewalks? The unpaved side streets? That hideous park/plaza area? There isn't a single major retailer nearby besides those tiny corner convenience stores. Any actual office buildings?🤷

Good for you, but let's be real: Martinovka is still one of the most expensive neighborhoods in the city, right at the top of the market. Believe me, I know how this works. If you don't buy it, take five minutes to browse some real estate listings and you'll see exactly what I mean.
And those buildings right across from KSETa? They're almost entirely high-end luxury condos.
Susan Clark10 said:I’m honestly floored that Zrinko is living in such an unrefined neighborhood. 😬

Elite? Have you actually stepped foot inside those apartments? We’re talking two-story layouts, averaging about 1,300 square feet, each with its own garage, and all just a three-minute stroll from Grand Central Terminal.

Those are some of the most expensive apartments in the city. Honestly, being right next to the IEEE headquarters is their only real downside. 😬 And just take a look at the listing prices in Martinville. If people actually looked at those numbers, they might finally get a reality check. 😁
Jesse Sanchez60 said:So now this guy from the apartment is yelling, "Turn it on!" They’re sitting there waiting, but the device isn't showing a thing... he shouts again, "Turn the intercom on!" and still nothing... "Are you going to turn it on or what?"..."Yeah, we turned it on," comes a voice from the other side...

If I were the voice on the other end back when it was 🙂
Mack We won't get into the specifics 😬
Overdrafts and negative balances: What's allowed? in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
shadowpilot8 said:unknown - I have an account at Bank of America with a pretty substantial overdraft limit. I've never actually gone into the red, but they slashed my limit by $333 this month. I was talking to a colleague yesterday who had a $20000 overdraft limit at JP Morgan Chase and stayed within his bounds, yet they dropped him down to 40,000 this month too. He called the Bank of America, and they claimed it was due to the recession.

My overdraft limit actually went up. And there hasn't been a single change in the economy since last period 🤷
Mark Nguyen6 said:The core of my question was actually a bit different from how it came across.

Setting aside the specifics of the protege's career for a moment—Wells Fargo was really just being used as an example of what a 'domestic bank' looks like.

So, given all the complaining about how our banking system is essentially owned by foreign interests, I was wondering—what would we actually gain if we shifted everything over to a single institution under domestic ownership (let's say some imaginary XYZ Bank)? Would there be any tangible benefit—for the government, for individuals, for society at large, or for the economy as a whole—and if so, what exactly would that look like?

In a perfect world, the government would reap benefits and it would serve everyone better; for instance, they could mandate that Wells Fargo prioritize lending to businesses rather than just consumer debt or the state itself 😬. In the real world? I wouldn't touch a state-run bank with a ten-foot pole unless I was already deep in the red.

EDIT: Just realized I basically said the same thing as Killerdog.
Anthony Fox95 said:Production is always the sticking point. You never know if you’re playing to a crowd of 2, 200, or 20,000.
But if they roll out an 8x12m stage with a setup meant for a dive bar, it looks tiny—honestly, it looks pathetic—in a massive venue like Madison Square Garden. It just drags down the artist's reputation.
That’s why they dodge those huge halls.
They’d much rather play three or four shows at a mid-sized club than one lonely night in a massive stadium. Get it?

Then again, maybe my intel is off and she’ll end up at the stadium anyway. We'll see how it plays out...

Well, you mentioned that even KSET got an offer 🤣
What's the point of using "Bank"? Isn't "national holiday" fine? 😕
Thursday was a national holiday here in America 🤣 😵
I honestly don't think a holiday like that even exists in the US 😁
Tom Petrov (business news) in Economy ·
In my book, he’s just another sensationalist clown—the kind our media landscape is practically overflowing with, especially in sports journalism. It's pure tabloid trash. If I recall correctly, about two years ago, he calmly reported that IBM had inked a deal with Coco Chanel, which was an absolute fabrication. His article actually caused a trading halt on the NYSE, followed by a massive crash once everyone realized the news was fake. And what were the consequences for him? Absolutely nothing. This wasn't even his first rodeo.
Jesse Sanchez60 said:One outlet was claiming maybe 10-15k, another said 15k, and it looks like the tabloid version was padding the numbers a bit... realistically, we're probably looking at closer to 15,000 people 🤷

I don't get it. I see Depeche Mode packed a stadium in New York City, they sold out the arena in Washington, D.C.—they probably could have sold out a second night too—yet a festival with a lineup of massive, relevant acts can't even come close to those attendance numbers. It just doesn't add up to me. 🤷

Maybe it’s just that an extended holiday weekend is the culprit here. I’m a perfect example; my family and a major international festival my kid is attending in Miami take priority over everything else.

Isn't it possible that Depeche Mode is simply a much bigger, more iconic band than this entire lineup combined, whether you're in Washington, D.C., New York City, London, or anywhere else in the country? 🤷
Is there actually a single city on Earth where Depeche Mode hasn't sold out?
