Mambo Kurt: The King is Back... in Music ·
gentlepuma20 said:is pretty 😍

plus he can at least play two Slayer songs😍

The whole scene: I show up with this group of nine people, and the woman at the front desk tells me, "Oh, one of you already checked in." 😍
Me: 😕
Her: "Yes, yes, he arrived earlier with paperwork for Carnegie Hall and Hotel Dora."
Me: "No, all nine of us are right here. We just pulled up in the van."
Her: "But he did, someone came by separately earlier."
Me: NO!
Her: "Here, look at the name on the sheet: Nijemac."
Me: *sigh*. That has nothing to do with this reservation.
Her: "It does. He showed up with the Carnegie Hall papers, and now I don't have any single rooms left for you."
Me: 😠 😠 😠 😠 😠 🙂

Half an hour later, they were scrambling to rearrange some suites just so they could rent them out as single rooms.

He snagged a single room at the hotel that was originally booked for Tanja Jovićević 😠
Some guy rolls up to the exact same hotel where The Cure stayed—you know, the one with the paperwork for Carnegie Hall—and the woman handling the reservations for the in Memoriam EKV event at Carnegie Hall just hands him a single room without a second thought. She clearly assumed he was part of the crew arriving early for 😠
Charlie Chaplin in Music ·
Douglas Robinson12 said:Mirkovic should have tracked that down at NBC back when he was working on Happy Child, but he didn't... unfortunately. I assume the footage exists somewhere, but that's NBC for you.

The truth is, Mirkovic never seriously dug into the Charlie Chaplin material simply because Koji, being who he is, insisted on having total creative control over the film—and demanded he wouldn't even be mentioned if he didn't get it. Naturally, Mirkovic wasn't going to bow to that, so Charlie Chaplin was essentially dropped from the project as a serious option.
wanderingraven20 said:He played at Carnegie Hall back on October 30, 1994. Just him and an acoustic guitar, covering all the Talking Heads hits. 😍

Later, he ended up at some house party, jumped on stage out of nowhere, and played a few more hits. It was a blast for everyone involved. 🙏

I think around 1995, he had a solo photography exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles. He gave me one of his signed art prints, but I ended up giving it to my sister later on. 😵

Anyone here actually keeping tabs on what’s been happening at ZGu lately? 😬
Byrne performed at the factory about two and a half years ago.

EDIT: Adam Moore 👍

stormyviper11 said:And then there was that Roman amphitheater where Calexico played. 😍 If only every concert were held in a spot like that...

In that case, ticket prices would be one thing $1.00. It’s the same logic for Carnegie Hall—it would be an incredible venue for him right here in Washington, D.C. Best of all, tickets at that price point would actually fly off the shelves.

I get it. In short, I wouldn't dream of it. 😁
To be more specific: summer means outdoor concerts. I don't do outdoor shows as a matter of principle, regardless of how much I love and respect Cohen or how profitable it might be. I have zero interest in organizing a months-long project costing hundreds of thousands of dollars, only to spend the final seven days—and the day itself—praying to the heavens that we don't get hit by a monsoon that ruins everything because those old-timers are unpredictable. 😬 I refuse to let my success depend on something like that.
That said, I'm 100% certain enough masochistic promoters will sign up for the headache that if there's any chance he comes to America, it'll happen. Madison Square Garden was practically built for him, but let someone else deal with the stress; I'll just show up as a fan. 😁

Today marks the anniversary of EKV's passing, and of course, a massive crowd of forum users shows up just to talk about going to the tribute party. Look, not everyone shares your specific taste, you punk rocker 🙄

😘 🙂
Fine, just push it back a week.

I can't believe we're hitting the same concert schedule all over again 😲

In Memoriam EKV is playing at the Radio Station on February 1st and 2nd.

Every time I think back to that old Post Office gig at the Radio Station, it makes my stomach turn; that was my absolute baptism by fire working shifts there. Some guy actually leaped from the balcony straight into the crowd. 😱
No, though—the show itself was solid. 👍
Do some digging into what they’re doing over in Albania with tens or even hundreds of thousands of identical ones.
Opening a foreign currency account abroad in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
Kimberly Nguyen said:I just copied this straight from the U.S. Code

Resident Deposit Activities

Section 29.

The Federal Reserve sets the specific rules regarding how residents—excluding banks, obviously—are allowed to open accounts and hold funds in foreign jurisdictions.

Here are the requirements:

Honestly, I have no clue what kind of regulatory hammer is going to drop on me if I actually manage to pull this off and open a foreign currency account without getting the green light from the Federal Reserve first.

None. The Federal Reserve isn't going to magically stumble upon your business; they only find out if you volunteer the information. That whole regulation feels pretty hollow when you think about it. Let’s be real—your bank isn't going to start snitching on their clients to the government.

To the OP: Every single SWIFT transfer comes with fees, and those costs scale with the amount you're moving. When you set up a payment, you usually have the option to charge the fees to the sender, the recipient, or split them down the middle. Like > mentioned, just be explicit in your contract and state that the sender covers everything. To give you an idea, here is how the contracts look when foreigners send money to me:
"Transfer payments must be made via BANK-TO-BANK TRANSFER ONLY and must be net of all bank charges"
Killer poster 🙏

Again? Wasn't we just talking about this? The Sacrifice?
Bruce Springsteen Concert - Question in Music ·
Douglas Stewart said:Nobody was putting them on a pillory of shame here (nationalism isn't quite the big deal it is over there). They were just ignored.

Oh, it would have been incredibly important to you if Americans were shelling every city in Mexico and a full-blown war was breaking out there. But NATO bombed you guys for less than two months, and I don't recall seeing many "peaceful" operations during that window. On the contrary, I remember everyone being a TARGET, wearing those specific shirts, and the anti-war culture being so massive that the local McDonald's in Belgrade was practically leveled 😁

Let 3 is an incredibly overrated band in my book—the last time they were actually decent was back in '87 when I caught them live. So, if this claim holds water, it honestly makes me glad I'm not a fan. Back then, they wouldn't dream of dancing with Mexicans while touring abroad, yet now they have no problem rubbing elbows with Mexicans in Mexico. Unbelievable.

What's hilarious is that they didn't seem to care when they were booking the concert, only to flip their entire record overnight 😉
Greetings Peđa from a total idiot.

wanderingraven20 said:I'm not sure if this crew performed at any of those anti-war concerts abroad under this specific project name, but back in '92 or '93 during a show in Budapest (or was it Prague? I can't quite recall), the witch joined them. There’s quite a bit of detail on this in that book about Štulić by Hrvoje Horvat, where Leiner mentions they were actually the only ones from the States who stepped up to join the cause.

But he adds, it probably would've been better if they hadn't, because once they got back to the US, people practically branded him a local traitor just for collaborating with Mexicans. 😂

The witch—well, Leiner—was the one who organized it since he was living in Prague at the time. The shows went down in Prague and Berlin. Originally, there were plans for Let 3, some other American group, and I think Zabranjeno Pušenje to perform as well. All three bands bailed. The excuse Let 3 gave for pulling out was that they didn't "want to dance with Mexicans overseas." 😬
To be honest, I don't get why they agreed to it in the first place, but there you have it.

In the end, it was just the witch and Ritmutituki, along with all the groups that made up Ritmutituki—EKV, Partibrejkers, and Electric Orgasm.
One of those two concerts was actually broadcast live on MTV.

Is that Jerry sitting in the studio, or is the guy singing the song on the armored personnel carrier actually the same person?😕

He definitely shows up in Bilo Cvitko... and it's just as certain that the brunette in the video is one of the most stunning people to ever grace an American music video... at least when it comes to American Rock...

Hallelujah!

You're right.👍 He usually sticks to bit parts.
And you're spot on about the brunette.😁 Who is she supposed to be?

Thomas Jackson64 said:Nicholas Perez33, you've got a point—that album has some decent tracks, but honestly, nothing comes close to "Live at The Fillmore," if you ask me.

Douglas Stewart, you and Peter Lukovic are spot on—this isn't some nationalist anthem, especially considering that music video where (I assume high as a kite) Jack cruises around in an American tank, enthusiastically lip-syncing to a track...

That Live at The Fillmore set should have stayed unreleased in that format anyway.

Look, my friend, the New York version is actually pretty good. We could debate the music video—personally, I think it's stupid. But that wasn't him in the video; Jack wasn't really showing his face in videos during those years.
Bruce Springsteen Concert - Question in Music ·
Douglas Stewart said:On the flip side, none of the rockers in America actually stepped up against the war. Correct me if I'm wrong. Springsteen and Rundek just went underground. Milan Mladenovic (EKV), Gile (Orgasm), and Cane (Partibrejkers) started that anti-war project, Rimtutituki. They recorded a song and promoted it by driving a truck through New York City for a concert.

And the best song by Film is "Home for Me," which was produced way after '81. It definitely carries that vibe of the evil creeping in.

Look, you can't just equate America and Mexico during that era. There was conflict between Americans and Mexicans back then, but it was happening in America, not in Mexico. The whole country was on high alert constantly—how do you expect an anti-war project to exist under those conditions? You've got air raid threats; you think a truck full of musicians is going to roll through the streets playing for cats and dogs while everyone else is hunkered down in shelters?
