I downloaded The Great Pyramid of Giza today, but I'm getting an error every time I try to play the movie. I’m using VLC Media Player. Does anyone have a fix?

The movie is great—but honestly, Miles is the best part. 😁

The movie is legendary—so then someone has the nerve to claim it isn't actually any good.

I wouldn't turn down some Midwestern hospitality—not if they were offering up smoked sausage and other local delicacies. I'd probably ask if I could pack a little extra to take home. 😁

I forgot to mention—when I’m visiting someone and they start piling food on my plate, if I’m hungry—especially if the spread is actually decent—I eat. No hesitation, no pretending to be polite, no shame. I just eat like I’m sitting in my own kitchen back home. 😁

Anonymous said:That’s spot on. I remember my late grandmother talking about how food was always the main topic of conversation—which makes sense, given that hunger was a constant shadow during her childhood. She and one of her brothers were actually sent out to the Midwest as kids to find relief from the famine. She had better luck; she was taken in by a family in a small town and treated like one of their own. Her brother, on the other hand, really caught the short end of the stick. The family that took him in basically put him to work in a barn, making him toil away all day long.

I saw a documentary about that once. Most of the stories they shared were positive—at least in that specific program. One guy even mentioned he didn't want to go back home when his people came to fetch him. Why would he? He didn't have to work, there was plenty to eat... it sounds like he was living better than 90% of the population at the time.

I never dealt with anything like that, but my mother used to give me trouble sometimes—questioning why I wouldn't eat what everyone else was eating, or why I'd refuse certain things while she struggled to cook. Now? I just give her a cold look and tell her I'll eat when I'm hungry.

Honestly, I would never offer tutoring ever again... people simply don't appreciate the effort. I cruised through all eight years of middle school with straight A's; some of my teachers even begged me to help students who were on the verge of failing 🙄 And of course, being who I am, I always helped... only to have it come back to haunt me when the very people I supported treated me like garbage 😳

Eventually, I just had to draw a line in the sand. No more helping, no more letting people copy my homework, no more private tutoring... if a professor called on me in class, I’d give the bare minimum answer required to avoid looking disrespectful

As for high school... 😲 it was a nightmare. There were 28 of us, split into these ridiculous groups of fifteen 🙄 It was a total disaster. I barely made it through those four hellish years 😳 I've stayed in touch with only two girls; as for the rest, I have absolutely no desire to hear from them or see their faces ever again 🙄

Fine—they can follow whatever rules they want, but if they want something done, they should pay for it.

But then there are people like me... who just can't catch a break in any category whatsoever.🙄

Look, honestly? I truly hope things start looking up for you across the board.🙂

I have to admit, luck does follow me in certain areas—though if you ask me, I’m completely out of luck when it comes to romance, while everything else seems to work out about 90% of the time.

Bryan Thompson5 said:Well, maybe... I'm guessing you already had a little circle of friends from middle school before you even started high school.
As for me, I moved to Washington, D.C. for school even though I wasn't originally from there...🙄

No, I didn't know anyone—I lived in a different city during middle school, then moved to a third city for high school, which isn't where I live now. It made things difficult, honestly. In my current city, I don't know a single soul—not that I was ever much of a social butterfly to begin with—but most people were decent enough and welcomed me in, even if they all basically knew each other already. We didn't become best friends overnight. It was a slow process—just hanging out at school, talking about whatever. By junior year, we started hanging out outside of class. By the end of senior year, I actually felt bad that it was over; I’d found a great group, though most of us drifted apart afterward.

Bryan Thompson5 said:Man, what kind of school were you even at? My freshman year was pure hell... easily the worst four years of my life.

I went to an Economic school, though I'm not from Washington, D.C.—I grew up in a small town, which might have played a part in the experience.

It might not be the case for everyone, but if you aren't mentally tough—or if you don't set some boundaries right on day one—high school just gets progressively more brutal.
In my opinion, just sitting around waiting for another year to pass isn't going to lead to anything good...

Middle school was a nightmare for me, yet high school turned out fine—and I didn't go in acting tough or anything. I wasn't exactly mentally bulletproof either; I just acted normally and ran into the same types of people. Once, some kids tried to mess with me, but I snapped immediately like a total maniac—though, looking back, it was mostly a bluff.

Melissa Nguyen said:Hey... I'm 14, and I know this probably sounds like some typical teenage drama, but honestly, it feels horrific and I’m totally lost on what to do.
Adults always brush this stuff off as nonsense, but when you're 14 and everyone around you has basically turned against you, it sucks—it really does. I'm about to start 8th grade, and during our school trip, one of my "friends" started flirting with this guy she knew I'd had a crush on for ages. I actually talked to her about it—we were honest with each other and thought we'd cleared the air—but then the rest of the girls in my class just went absolutely feral. They started screaming at me, calling me rude and stuck-up, saying they didn't want anything to do with me anymore. It got so bad that they actually burst into my room during the trip and started yelling threats... telling me they'd literally break my neck. I went to my teacher to report it, and we had this big group sit-down, but it was useless—some said they'd make up, while others flat-out refused to even look at me. I feel terrible because of everything they said, and the worst part is that it was the "popular" cliques leading the charge—they've basically turned the entire grade against me, even kids who weren't even involved in the fight. Now, I don't have a single friend left in that class, which is just devastating. My parents are amazing and support me, but that doesn't make it any easier when I walk into school and have to watch people gossip about me right to my face or roll their eyes every time I open my mouth. I know I should be grateful for my parents, my straight A's, and being healthy, but I still feel so pathetic knowing that nobody in my grade wants me around or respects me. And get this—I was literally tutoring those same people in Chemistry and Math just so they wouldn't fail the grade! Please, if anyone has even a shred of comfort or advice, let me know... I'm feeling so depressed that I genuinely dread going back to school this fall.

Every new generation seems to be getting more mindless—it's exhausting. I'm certain most of them don't even hate you; they're just following the popular kids. They haven't even formed their own personalities yet, but that isn't an excuse. And it's always the good ones who get hit the hardest. 👎 Just yesterday, I saw some idiot assault a kid who was genuinely one of the nicest guys around, but that's a different story. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this year passes quickly so you can leave those people behind. Personally, I don't stay in touch with a single soul from middle school.

Don't let a bunch of idiots who aren't even on your level ruin your life. Like the song says, "I walk through the city armed with nothing but a smile."
Choosing a political party in Close to Politics ·
Look, the kids in politics are no different from the old guard—they’re all just looking for their own slice of the pie. I had this friend once—well, an acquaintance now, life sort of pulled us in different directions—who’s actually in the Democratic Party. He’s even running the youth wing in his city (and it’s not some tiny suburb, either). Honestly? The guy is decent. We used to hang out, grab drinks, talk about everything under the sun. I could actually see him becoming mayor or stepping into something bigger one day. Thinking back on it, he isn't a bad choice; compared to the usual vultures circling in politics, at least he has a conscience and some actual values. But then again, don't you think those high-level roles require someone who possesses all those traits plus a whole lot more?

Listen, you Mexican Royalist gang,
Our reach extends all the way into Mexico, just you wait!

Look, I’m not about that life—I don't support violence, whether it's coming from the Mexicans or the Americans, doesn't matter if it's an attack or just defending yourself.
If things get too heavy, I'd honestly rather just bail. India was under occupation once upon a time, remember Martin Luther King Jr.?

If we actually had a functioning government, they'd set up some intelligence unit to systematically take them out. Since our state is essentially a disaster zone, we wouldn't even need to hunt them down in Mexico—most of them have already been dealt with.

What's the issue with ensuring people who waged aggression against our country end up either underground or behind bars?

Patrick Wright2 said:Go on then, quote one single hateful lyric or a call to arms from Thompson's songs.
Do you even listen to Thompson?
I won't give you just one, I'll give you thirty.

Because of Ann and a goblet of wine,
I'll set the frontier on fire all the way to Knoxville.
I'll burn down two or three Mexican headquarters,
so my coming wasn't for nothing.

Thompson plays, AKs and rifles roar,
Toss a grenade, drive the gang away from the spring!
One step forward, rifle ready, everyone sings the song,
For our home, brothers, for freedom, we fight.
Listen up, Mexican volunteers and Royalist gangs,
Our hand will reach you even in Mexico!
Divine justice will catch up to you, everyone knows that,
The warriors from Chavoglav will be your judges!

Those lowly cowards are attacking,
Acting like they were actually defending villages,
Rats crawling out of their holes,
Man, look how their faces pale,
Whenever our flag waves high,
Our sacred flag.

Since the time of Christ,
New faces, but the same old scene,
Evil forces are trying their best,
To make sure we don't exist,
Antichrists and Masons,
These communists, them and us,
Spreading satanic phrases,
Just to defeat us.

We'll drive them all out by force,
I'm determined to bring peace to my Homeland,
They'll run away cursing their mothers,
For ever stepping foot in our America.
