Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice? in Health ·
For a few years now, I’ve been picking up some Advil once a year, but lately they’ve started carrying two different versions—there's this Advil Venom stuff you can just grab off the shelf without a prescription, and then there's the regular version that requires a doctor's note. Honestly, they seem identical to me.
Does anyone know which formulary list the prescription Advil falls under? And does Medicare cover half the cost, or am I paying full price out of pocket (I have my doubts about Medicare picking up the tab here)?
Mistaken wire transfer/payment error in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
So, I used my JPMorgan Chase Maestro card to grab something for $433, walked out to my car, opened the box, and realized—thanks to a total blunder by the cashier—it wasn't what I actually ordered.
I headed back inside, and they voided the transaction right there at the register. I got the notification on my mobile banking app about the reversal, but the money hasn't actually shown up in my balance yet—not nearly as fast as it vanished when I first bought it. They’re using a Citigroup account while I’m on JPMorgan Chase, so how long does it usually take for a refund like this to actually land and show up in my online banking?
Using a monitor instead of a TV? in Computer Peripherals ·
This thread is pretty old, but I’d rather dig this up than start a whole new one from scratch. So, here’s the situation: I’ve got an 8-year-old Samsung TV that’s finally ready for retirement. Right now, I have a newer iOS TV box hooked up via HDMI, which runs through my receiver to feed the sound into my home theater system.
I’m actually considering skipping a traditional TV entirely and just grabbing a monitor—since I really only care about HDMI ports and an audio out. I don't need an antenna jack or any of that extra fluff. I just want a screen north of 40 inches where I can plug things in however I see fit.
Which way is the smarter play here—a standard TV or a dedicated monitor? I’m looking at something around 43 inches, 4K resolution is a must, and honestly, I don't even care if it has built-in speakers.
What are the actual pros and cons when comparing a TV versus an LCD or LED monitor?
Specifically, I'm curious about image quality, depth of field, backlight performance, and anything regarding eye strain or radiation levels... any recommendations?

Once a year, I deal with this one annoying hemorrhoid—so I just grab a 60-count bottle of Detralex, take it three times a day for the first five days, then drop down to twice a day, and within two or three weeks, it’s gone.
This was actually the exact regimen a surgeon back in Philly prescribed me the first time it happened.
I managed to track down a 60-pill box for $50.
Did you sprain your wrist?
If so, just take it easy—use some ice packs and you should be fine in about ten days or so. Just try to avoid any sudden movements, running, jumping, and all that nonsense...
Maybe try some Deep Relief gel, and you could always pop some Advil if it gets annoying..
Wounds and their aftermath in Health ·
If the wound is deep enough that it isn't healing even with Bivacin and other little things—maybe it actually needs some professional medical attention?

You absolutely have to soften things up first—that’s priority number one—otherwise you're just going to end up tearing everything you've worked so hard to fix..
That thing needs to just slide right out of you—honestly, with all that straining..
Praxiten and Aketon side effects? in Health ·
There aren't really any permanent side effects since this kind of medication doesn't actually alter your brain chemistry—it just blocks certain receptors. The real issue is the dependency; once you try to quit, you end up dealing with a long, nasty withdrawal phase..

If you're dealing with an acute hemorrhoid flare-up, you typically take Daflon for about 10 days at high doses—basically, what I mentioned earlier: starting with 3x2 for the first 4 or 5 days, then tapering down to 2x2...

Look, I’ve already said this a few times above...
I took Daflon—started with 3x2 for the first five days, then moved to 2x2. After finishing three boxes, the whole issue just vanished...
A little bit of hemorrhoid cream, some Faktu whenever needed, and that was basically it.
Then, I started eating mussels for breakfast and having a large coffee—which sends me straight to the bathroom—just so I can be good for the rest of the day. Honestly, I can't believe everything has stayed fine since then.
And that was two years ago.

It's a tough field—a proctologist is basically a surgeon, and let's be honest, we both know how rare female surgeons can be...

but mostly it's men!
ha ha..🤣
doesn't matter—health is the most important thing in the world, and there isn't any shame or fear worth holding onto when it comes to your well-being..
just get in there and get it over with..
maybe have a drink to calm your nerves first if you can't find the guts..
you just have to go!

Proctolog?
No, thank goodness...😂

Honestly, I’ve been procrastinating on seeing my dentist too—but at some point, you just have to suck it up and set a date. Usually, you have to book ahead of time, though where I live in Des Moines, they don't really bother with appointments...
You just show up, sit in the hallway for two hours, and eventually, they call your name...
Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
It’s over in a flash—maybe thirty seconds tops. Honestly, I didn't feel much pain since I didn't have any open wounds, just some bruising...
It’s pretty unpleasant though, because they really shove that finger in there, you know where...

I honestly felt like such a pain in the neck with this whole Daflon situation—when my doctor first prescribed it to me, I thought he was out of his mind and just walked out...
But, against my better judgment, I picked up two boxes and followed the instructions to a T, and man, that hemorrhoid shrunk by about 70%...
Eventually, it vanished completely...
Now, I'm being careful with what I eat and making sure I stay active, and I haven't had any symptoms since...

I dealt with them about two years ago—external, thrombosed, the whole mess—and cleared it all up with therapy. They haven't made a comeback since.
The regimen:
I went through three boxes of Daflon tablets—started with 3x2 for the first five days, then dropped to 2x2...
Plus chamomile baths and some Faktu ointment...
Honestly, I couldn't believe how quickly they just vanished.

Look, if you're spending more than a few minutes on the throne, something’s gotta give—you might want to start looking for some thicker toilet paper...
Sitting there for ages puts way too much pressure on everything down there, basically dragging those veins into a low-hanging situation, which—surprise, surprise—is a fast track to hemorrhoids.
So, do your business in a couple of minutes, then go grab a coffee and read the news instead.
If things are coming out a bit too solid, don't try to force it—that's just asking for trouble. Just take a supplement or some tea to soften things up.
Something like Gerolsteiner, for instance.
Dealing with hemorrhoids in Health ·
Maybe start with some herbal tablets Ex-Lax—just take two right away, wait about 5 or 6 hours, then have another two. That should pretty much get things moving...
Also, grab some Gerolsteiner; drinking about 10 ounces of warm Gerolsteiner every morning might help too.
Antidepressants: General Discussion in Health ·
I think they went a little overboard with your dose...
Honestly, 2 mg three times a day should be plenty for you.
If you’re feeling way too groggy, just cut the pill in half.
