How to permanently wipe files for good

Based on everything I'm seeing here, it looks like my friend didn't actually perform a full format during his "new installation." That’s why that Windows.old folder is still sitting there taking up space. 🙂
Honestly, just do a clean reinstall of Windows and wipe the C: partition completely. It’s the simplest way to fix this.

Good grief...
Just grab it from CNET and stop asking so many questions.
There’s less than a day left on this one.

What part of that is confusing to you?

Since Word is part of the paid Microsoft Office suite, I highly doubt anyone is going to drop a download link for you. That’s straight-up piracy.
You actually have a perfectly fine alternative available called LibreOffice. It's free, and it includes practically all the same features you find in the Microsoft Office package without the subscription fee.🙂

Grab this:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/...-Edition.shtml
Run it to see which sound card you're actually dealing with, then grab the right driver.
The real question is whether you have Soundmax or Realtek. Once you check with Everest, you can download the specific driver. Alternatively, the simplest route is just using the Windows 7 update feature; Windows should handle everything automatically.
If that fails, once you've used Everest, you can head over here, grab the drivers for Windows XP or Windows Vista, and install them using compatibility mode.

Message and request for the mods and administrators
in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I’m asking the administrators and mods to step in here. Anyone turning the thread about the earthquake in Japan into an unreadable mess filled with conspiracy theories, HAARP nonsense, and other garbage should be handed a light ban. They've turned a serious discussion about a disaster into a complete joke.
The thread in question is this one:
Out of 12 pages, at least 10 of them are nothing but talk about HAARP, the Illuminati, and various other delusions.
Thanks in advance.

If you don't have it yet, just grab HirensBoot CD 13.1. It comes bundled with
password Renew 1.1
which lets you wipe or reset that password easily.
You can also use Offline NT password Changer 2010-06-27 from that same Hiren's toolkit if you prefer.
