Ah, the classics. ☕
Album of the week in Music ·
Not really. 😁

But honestly, I feel like The Beatles are (way too often) overrated. 🙄
Though, I guess 'Abbey Road' might be their best album...

I’m thinking along the same lines, honestly. I have no clue how to wrap my head around this whole Radiohead thing.
But I probably shouldn't keep commenting... I don't want my coworker Mimma to start hating me. 😁

And '69 was a total phenomenon, period. Maybe the Captain should be at the top, just like Nick Drake.

Yeah, we've already felt some of this over here too!

I’ll be blunt: it sucks to me that Nick Drake's 'Pink Moon' only landed at number 28. 😁 But hey, that's just how that album is—subtle and quiet. Still, I think it's pretty cool that all three of his albums made it into the top 300 or so, ever. 😍

Yeah, totally, it's a masterpiece! 🎉

And I've gotta say, I give a massive amount of credit on this album to one hidden gem of a guy named Peter Sinfield. 😍 His solo stuff is just as worth listening to, but he's pretty under the radar... personally, my favorite (and probably best) KC album is 'Islands'; it feels like his work most of all. It hasn't happened again since—later on, Fripp kind of took over the reins...

"my mother was a bisexual communist!" 😁 😍

Here’s something fitting for wrapping up a year like this and moving toward new beginnings...
A total classic. Right at the top of '69., and if we're being honest, maybe even the best ever made..

Yeah, certain albums really do open the door for much bigger debates. 🙂

Plus, if we're looking at averages, I guess our buddy Jason Mendoza actually runs the most successful threads here,
just based on the stats. Just saying!

And maybe Arthur Brown can finally take a bow once he hits his 60th thread.

Honestly, I'm just glad this year is finally winding down.
Hope everyone's doing alright out there...

Ashley Grant66 said:Ugh, I’m such a huge fan of P. Genius too. This is my first time sitting down with this album and I'm digging it, though it's always like that for me—one track just hits and I think, 'okay, this is it.' Chills. This time, I think it might be Jason.

I'm really curious to see how our guys will take 🙂

Honestly, I'm mostly focused on that specific topic now (and how the crew is going to drag us into 'punisher').
I get what Gerald Jackson48 is saying, but I bet Arthur Brown6 will find some gems on this record too...

Ashley Grant66 said:i Fool is one of those 'definitive' tracks for me... just magical. Over the summer, I spent so much time looping it in my headphones while lying in a hammock, totally alone, just letting his voice drift through the sky...

Exactly, 'fool' is just so infectious (I had it on repeat forever when I first started discovering him). Maybe 'too bright' is actually the best entry point for Hadreas? (I mean, you've got hits like 'queen' and 'grid' too...) And then there's this latest album, which definitely requires more listens, even if it's easily his best (alongside the previous one, 'no shape'). But this... 🙏 man, this song is probably in my top ten from the last decade, and the video is gorgeous too. 😍

Everyone's at 50% or higher. It wasn't even mentioned before. 😉

Awesome! It’s going to be great... just because.
If you have the time, you should definitely check out the full 'too bright' album too.

I mean, four albums this year alone. Plus, three women and one queen! I'm pretty stoked about it. 😍
Album of the week in Music ·
We’ve got 8 albums on the schedule this week, which means we're hitting a nice round 60 by the end of the year.
Just get those intros ready whenever you can. Early in the week is fine, no big rush...

Since we only had one person step up with their first suggestion, I’m asking my colleague Arthur Brown6 to take over one of my picks... maybe that last one suggested by the guy who voted for it. Honestly, that could be pretty interesting! You down? 🙂

Happy everyone! 🙂

Solid playlist, Steven Newman50. I've been stuck on The Doors since yesterday,
mixing them in with Madonna, Peaches, and whatever else. 😵

Right back at you, Arthur Brown6!
Hope everyone is doing well. 🙂

I'm throwing in another release from this year that I was debating over last night. I've always been a fan of Perfume Genius, but I just recently discovered her...

The poll is a mess, too.

We planned this themed week using nothing but famous albums because we figured it would be easier—honestly, we thought nobody would have the time to listen to all these random suggestions right now, so we just went with the heavy hitters. But I'm actually glad you guys didn't... 🙂now I've gone and grabbed one of this year's releases that really stuck with me. It's easily one of the best things I've heard lately (maybe even the best thing this site has put out so far). 🙂

Dennis Hall41, I’ve been following Phoebe on Instagram for a while because she’s actually pretty cool and funny: fake_nudes 😁

But the album? It just didn't click for me at all. I actually went back and listened to it twice more today after you suggested it, and while it felt a little better, I still don't really get the hype. I think I prefer her natural voice when she's just talking. She seems super likable in interviews, so maybe your intro post will somehow change my mind about the music. 🙂

Last suggestion for the end of the year...

I think we need more love albums here, plus some queer sounds and aesthetics.
(Mike Hadreas talks a bit about every song.)

Here’s a post regarding the birth of Jesus and the end of this beautiful 2020.

This thread, maybe unexpectedly, turned into one of the most productive and read ones on the music board. It was definitely a spot where we all got to check out tons of new artists and albums... So, to wrap up the year and take a look at everything we discovered here, we’ve put together a list of every album mentioned in this thread, including those that didn't make the cut. Besides that, we’re doing another themed week... (don't worry, no Christmas albums.)

Just so we're clear, we have a few rules for this round:

This time, there's no limit on suggestions! 🙂
If you've participated before or plan to, don't worry about running out of time or stepping on anyone else's toes. Every album suggested from midnight tonight until the end of the day Thursday will be included in the poll.

Albums already suggested in 2020. >>> from this list
The idea is for everyone to pick from the previously suggested albums—maybe those you recommended that you're actually bummed didn't win. We just finished compiling the list, so go ahead and take a look (with your eyes and ears).

There might be more winning albums this time around! 🙂
Next week, Amanda Robinson4 and I are going to take a break from the polls. We'll probably all be hanging out less here and spending more time with our families anyway, so instead of just one Album of the Week, there will be several. More on that... later.

Feel free to list up to two albums...
They can even be suggestions made by others in previous weeks.

Everyone needs to write a brief intro for their chosen album/albums.
(We'll announce the final number of winning albums after the poll closes...)

All threads need to be opened by the end of the weekend.
And we'll be listening to the albums over the next two weeks!
