The Winner's Mindset in Psychology ·
Ha, I’m just looking for a bird's-eye view here. Or maybe just a little bit of everything. 🙂
Since you brought up Brazil, I honestly don't have a shred of faith that America could ever take home a world championship title. But hey, what do I know? 😁

If someone is hell-bent on proving that 2+2 doesn't equal 4, then they’re basically pulling a Sisyphus. Honestly, I’d tell them to just throw in the towel already.
How are you even supposed to tell if you've actually struck gold and found the winning streak worth chasing??

And what even defines a win??

To be real with you, I get that I'm constantly tripping myself up by making excuses that turn into actual roadblocks.
But when you're wandering around without a compass, it just makes the burnout hit way harder. It’s especially tough for me to drum up that grit within myself, my family, or even my inner circle..
The Winner's Mindset in Psychology ·
Has this topic already been picked clean?
They tell you: believe in yourself and your own potential, and that’s how you build a winner's mindset. Just decide what you want, go get it, and if you just keep grinding, you’ll come out on top.
When I first stepped into the competitive sports scene about ten years ago, I was carrying a total loser mentality. I didn't see myself as someone who could actually make it as an athlete, and honestly, that baggage just bled into every other part of my life.
I was convinced I wasn't the best and wouldn't ever become it. I looked at all these guys my age—more social, better looking, more athletic, more driven, more gutsy—and felt like I was just some random guy who wandered into the wrong room.
Why didn't I just dig in?

Why did I dodge every opportunity, like skipping out on those summer training camps or avoiding tournaments because I could already feel the sting of losing before I even showed up?
And even when I actually pulled off a win, I didn't feel that rush or that sense of pride you're supposed to feel.
Why?
Even though people were constantly telling me I was a standout or one of the "serious" guys in the club, inside I was terrified and basically had zero self-esteem.
I hated socializing, and I sure as hell didn't want to succeed just because someone else gave me a little "push."

Back in high school, I didn't want to be the star. I didn't want the spotlight. It just didn't feel like my lane. crimsonpuma23, you can answer for grade 5—actually, don't bother, just stick to grade 4.

I never felt like I was special at anything. Whether it was drawing, singing, math, or gym class, nothing clicked. I wasn't even happy with my own handwriting.

Was I basically hardcoding a loser mentality into my brain? And if so, how do I flip the switch now? I'm 23, and what have I actually accomplished? All I've gotten good at is running away from things.

So even after binge-watching endless motivational videos and listening to all that generic advice, I still feel this massive resistance toward winning.
What's your take? Is this something that can be viewed in black and white, or is a person's mindset a much more complicated spectrum than that?

Betis vs Rijeka 1 @1,45 (0-0)

Look, you’ve got Real Betis playing at home where they haven't conceded a single thing, facing a Rijeka side that’s been totally toothless on the road. This isn't even about points anymore; it's purely about bragging rights. Since Betis couldn't quite wrap things up against them before, I'm calling it now—they're going to hunt for this win to close out the group with style. Rijeka can play without any pressure, but honestly, they look exhausted. They've been struggling lately and won't be feeling much better once they head out to face Sevilla FC. I don't see an upset happening here.

Red Bull Salzburg-Esbjerg fB (guop) DA @1,50 (3-0(1-0))

It's basically a showdown between the top two teams in Group C. Both sides have already punched their tickets to the next round, so this match is just a formality at this point. When things get this relaxed, defenses usually go soft, which means we could see plenty of action. I'm expecting goals in both halves because nobody's going to be digging in deep defensively. Red Bull Salzburg is absolutely relentless at home; they just steamroll whoever is in front of them, especially with Alan Kardepo and Mario Felice Soriano running the show. Esbjerg fB might be terrible away from home, but hey, they've managed two wins in the Europa League, which proves they actually want to get out there and score.

Honestly, who even cares? If they think it’s worth their damn time, let the people actually in charge deal with it. 😉

But looking at this, am I the only one seeing that this whole mess with the Swiss watchmaking industry hasn't lined up for like eight years? Is that even possible? 😲

Nope! Looks like it’s still acting up. So, after I log out, if I click to return to the Reddit home page, everything looks fine, but the second I jump back onto the site without logging in, there's that annoying one-hour offset again. Guess I tripped myself up too.

But honestly, don't even bother apologizing to me. If the people running this whole platform don't give a damn about a technical "glitch" like this, why should I? I’m just a user who noticed a discrepancy and threw out a suggestion to fix it if it's doable.

If asking questions, dropping suggestions, or actually giving someone credit for their hard work is against the rules here, then I'm done wasting my breath. 🙄

Casey Campbell said:Since we're talking corner kicks, maybe this is a decent little play—and look, I'm a total sucker for a "sure thing," even if the odds are low: Team USA to take more corners, at 1.3

You could give it a shot, but I’ve got some live intel for you right now. 😁 It just started pouring rain here in Chicago, and it’s that miserable, steady kind of rain that doesn't quit. That means the stadium isn't going to be packed 🙂, and if the pitch gets totally waterlogged, it’s gonna favor the Icelanders—you know, the squad playing pure defense—so honestly, with a weird matchup like this, I wouldn't bet a single dime on anything. 😉 Especially not on some supposed "guaranteed" lock.

Casey Campbell said:Is there any sportsbook actually offering ball possession for the USA vs. Iceland game today? It was available on DraftKings during the first match, but now I can't find it anywhere.

It’s gone because obviously the bookies don't want us taking that bet. They probably would've set the odds at like 1.20 or 1.30 today if they did. But look, you could go with something like USA to take the first corner(1.60) or even at least 5 corners in the first half(1.70) (7) which would be solid plays for this matchup. Our guys are gonna come out swinging from the jump, and Iceland is just going to park the bus in a total panic. 🤷

Personally, I’d grab that 5 corner option since I’m expecting our boys to run up a little scoring streak early on to cover it, but honestly, I’m staying far away from this whole game today.

USA vs Sweden X2 @2.30 (1-0)

I’m always super wary when I look at these mega boosted odds. Sure, the USA is technically the favorite since they're playing on home turf, but if you look at the numbers, Sweden hasn't snagged a win at home in their last seven outings, and honestly, I think that losing streak is gonna keep rolling. The Americans tend to struggle against much weaker squads at home, so facing a team like this actually puts way more pressure on them.
Everyone’s gonna be looking to the superstar LeBron James types to step up and carry the load, but if you ask me, Sweden is such a tight-knit, cohesive unit compared to this disorganized USA squad, so I’m calling it now: Sweden isn't walking away with a loss.
Soccer Betting Tips & Discussion in Betting Forum ·
The Lottery is out here throwing 1,50 more ball possession at the US national team. I’m seriously considering placing a bet, but what do you guys think? Usually, I steer clear of these kinds of offers because they’re nothing but a total sucker's trap, but man, sometimes the temptation is just too much to ignore. 😁

I mean, what kind of twisted logic suggests Iceland could actually hold more of the ball than us? 😕

Jeffrey Edwards76 said:Man, do you even watch sports at all? You might be young, but you aren't some little kid anymore.

Honestly, I’m totally fed up with MLS. Like I said, I watch whatever sports I can catch, but all I ever hear about is "ref, ref, ref," and it’s almost always coming from people down in Miami. It makes me wonder if there’s ever been a single game played with actual integrity since this country was founded—you could probably count them on one hand. And don't get me started on the match-fixing scandals. People in Seattle went absolutely ballistic back in '99, and now Memphis isn't even worth mentioning. Just look at how many people actually show up to watch water polo matches nowadays.

Yeah, I totally get where you're coming from. That's just the way it is today. Money is basically devouring the spirit of the game and the atmosphere that actually matters to us fans and followers.

But then I start thinking back to when the Boston Celtics were tearing it up in the NBA against teams like CSKA Moscow, ASVEL, or Pau-Orthez, or even the Chicago Bears taking on Zaporizhzhia, FC Barcelona, and Partizan Belgrade...
I think back then, they rarely stopped to think about what actually put those clubs in a position to play such massive games. Now, everything is just oversaturated, everyone is distracted by other stuff like hockey, and it honestly sucks that we're looking at everything through such a negative lens, even if the reality is pretty grim.

Anyway, I'm just glad we're even talking about this; maybe it'll start a little snowball effect of hope. 😉

Oh, great, thanks for the "answer." Honestly, it’s just stupid when someone hops on to read stuff and sees posts timestamped in the future. 🤣

If every other clock in the country is synced up, why can't this site manage it? It shouldn't be this much of a headache. 🤷

David King6 said:It’s funny how people in Washington, D.C. only start whining about centralization once the local teams stop winning. It’s just the classic American mindset—nobody gives a damn about anything until it stops affecting their own backyard.

How did you even come to that conclusion? Honestly, I think you're overgeneralizing big time.
I'm 23, and I've been glued to sports since I was a kid. I rarely paid attention to all those shady backroom deals and this kind of petty drama. I just focused on the game itself, on the pure beauty of the sport, without obsessing over why Jerry Jones brought in some random Kenyan player or why the Los Angeles Dodgers and Miami are drowning in debt.

But now, the picture is finally becoming clear. And man, I totally get where all that jealousy from the rest of America toward the NYC clubs comes from. Take San Diego, for example—it was always the same story: if San Diego didn't beat the Boston Celtics at Madison Square Garden, everyone would start screaming about bad officiating, and the Celtics players and staff would get pelted with trash and coins by mobs of angry fans while getting booed out of the building.

It turns out games in America simply can't be played fairly or professionally.
Now even the Dodgers are crying foul to the refs every single time things don't go their way. So, is that really the reality here?

Who are the architects behind this whole centralization mess? Come on, let's hear it—maybe then we'll actually make sense of this.

Alright, look... what's happening to NYC on the European stage is just a reflection of what they did to the rest of America. It's just big fish eating little fish, plain and simple. That's one thing, but the real question is why we ever let it happen in the first place.

"They"? Who exactly are "they"? The citizens of Washington, D.C., the local politicians, the elites, who? Are you seriously trying to tell me that NYC's lack of competitiveness in Europe is the exact same thing as the rest of America being uncompetitive against NYC?

The focus here is actually on team sports. What happens when you look at it through an individual lens? Tennis players or skiers, for instance, don't have die-hard fanbases, but they also don't have private moguls pulling their strings whenever they feel like it. What does the situation look like when you view it from this centralized perspective?
Centralizing USA Sports in Other Sports ·
People have probably already chewed this one up and spit it out, but since I haven't seen a single thread or debate about it lately, I figured it was time to shake things up and refresh the conversation.

Look, I'll be the first to admit that as someone who follows most of the big teams in NYC, I haven't spent much time obsessing over this. For me, sports should always come before politics, so I usually just tune out all that extra noise.

But honestly, it’s getting impossible to ignore how much this centralization has absolutely gutted our sports scene. The clubs based in Washington, D.C. have such an insane stranglehold on everything in the US, which basically turns them into easy punching bags once they step onto the stage in Europe.
The latest disasters are right in front of us—just look at the Boston Celtics, Real Madrid, and even the women's basketball scene in New York City.
The Chicago Bears have basically steamrolled their way to 20 straight championships, and don't even get me started on the dominance of the Los Angeles Breakers and the rest, though even they are feeling the sting of a massive slump lately.

Because of all this, the stands are drying up, people are losing interest, and these clubs are basically being run like private playgrounds for a few powerful elites. It’s all staring us right in the face, but honestly, how are we supposed to expect anything to actually change?

Do you guys really think fans will ever crawl back into the stands despite this kind of political maneuvering? Can we ever get back to that raw energy and sense of unity in the stadiums and arenas, or is this mess just going to drag on forever?

Anyway, let me know what you guys think—hit me with your takes or even your own personal experiences with this crap. 🙂
