Seriously! I didn't even recognize her. She looked so... off, it was actually painful to watch.

I can't get behind this description or critique. Honestly? It's off base.

I liked the movie. Honestly, if I’d missed out on this one? I think I would’ve actually regretted it. It's just that kind of film.

I honestly think this movie hits on an original concept that hasn't been touched before. No one else has even come close to tackling it like this.

Donna Sullivan6 said:I absolutely loathe movies that bait you with a glimmer of hope only to deliver a massive, soul-crushing disappointment in the end. Honestly, I hate those even more than the stuff I’m skeptical about from the jump. It's a total waste of my time.

Ugh, they completely blew it. They totally lost the plot halfway through, and by the end, the whole thing just went straight down the drain. Three times over! What an absolute waste of time—just a cinematic ego trip.

Look, when you boil this whole thing down, the entire story should have been a ten or fifteen-minute sketch on a late-night comedy show—assuming any network would even run it. It definitely shouldn't have been wasted as a two-hour feature film.

Being inside... it changed something deep within me. For once, I Knew Who I Was. Everything finally clicked. Every piece of the puzzle fell into place, and suddenly, I Knew Who I Was.
I just sat through *Being John Malkovich*. My head is spinning. It’s one of those movies that makes you want to scream at the screen while simultaneously questioning every life choice you've ever made. Absolute madness. The concept alone? Pure insanity. A portal into someone else's brain? If that actually happened, most people would probably lose their minds within five minutes. It’s dark, it’s weird, and it refuses to hold your hand. Most modern cinema is too afraid to be this uncomfortable. They want everything wrapped up in a neat little bow for the audience, but this film just drags you kicking and screaming into a fever dream. I remember sitting in a small theater back in Chicago years ago watching something similarly experimental—just total chaos. You can't predict where the plot is going, and frankly, that's why it works. It doesn't care if you like it. It just exists, being unapologetically bizarre. It’s brilliant, but man, it’s exhausting. If you have a low tolerance for existential dread and surrealist nonsense, stay far away. But if you want to feel like your reality is cracking, go watch it. Just don't blame me when you start staring at strangers on the subway wondering what it would be like to inhabit their thoughts.

Facts, plain and simple..

binguli said:Comparing Rondo to Russian meat is like comparing heaven and earth. Honestly, Nola is just bottom-tier trash among directors. With his debut, When Nobody's Watching, he tried to mimic Hitchcock. He actually made a massive blunder there. Stupid Nola never truly grasped what makes Hitchcock work. He sticks a guy staring out a window across the street and thinks he’s captured the essence of a genius, when in reality, he’s created the exact opposite. In a Hitchcock film, everything is clear to the audience, whereas with Nola, you have to sit through the entire movie just to figure out how the characters relate to one another. We were forced to endure ninety minutes of total confusion just so "great" Nola could pretend to be brilliant. Then in Russian meat, he tried to channel Tarantino and failed miserably again. He thought slapping together a few mass shootouts, some hookers, and a mobster would instantly make him some Tarantino-esque imitator. But what about sharp dialogue? Wit? Cinematic pacing? Nola can't pull any of that off. He’s shot melodramas, romances, and crime flicks—but they're all garbage. I will admit, Sky satellite is tolerable. But Russian meat is the absolute rock bottom of American cinema.

I don't buy the idea that American film is total crap. During the 50s, 60s, and 70s, American cinema produced several absolute masterpieces, and the 80s gave us maybe the best American film ever made: Rhythm crime.

The real issue with American film today is the fact that people get into film school through pure connections. Is there a single industry professional whose name doesn't sound familiar? Nepotism and a complete lack of a sense of humor have absolutely wrecked American film. And then there's Nola with his pretentious projects, even though he doesn't know the first thing about filmmaking.

Maybe you should check out "good fine girl" before you claim that ALL American movies suck. That’s just lazy. The movie isn't even bad. We're making progress, slowly but surely.

No, I am not watching it. That movie is way too personal for me...
I'd end up identifying with it far too much...
It’s packed with such toxic character studies that it's honestly too much for me to handle...
I watch movies to unwind and have some fun... maybe even a fictional thriller or a horror flick if I'm feeling it...
But this stuff about those "girls"? It's just too real...

Yes!!
🙂

Tonight, the movie "Rondo" is airing on ABC1, at 11:45 PM...

My question is,,
how on earth could they schedule "Russian stupidity" during a family-friendly Saturday afternoon slot... yet take this perfectly fine, Western-style, decent movie and shove it practically after midnight right before the work week starts? 😲

Even though it was filmed back in the sixties, the way it’s presented—the characters themselves, little details like that firework scene, even the formal way they address one another, almost like those classic French films... that's how I envision a normal, healthy, happy American society...
(unlike that Russian garbage)

Look, just ask any woman if she feels embarrassed going to her OB-GYN. Usually, that shame fades after the first visit, but there's always that lingering bit of awkwardness hanging in the air.

And no, I’m not a woman. 🙂 Still very much a man. 🙂

So how do you know all those specifics then?
And how do women actually feel at the doctor's office?

Are you a doctor? Work in the medical field?
Don't tell me you're some psychiatrist...

Honestly, it's more about shame than fear when it comes to visiting a doctor for women's health. Let's be real about that. 🙂

Are you even a woman, Steven Jones3? 😲

Why don't you like Oprah so much?
No, you're wrong about what you said regarding Oprah...
The Oprah show is one of the few where problems are actually discussed decently, without all the melodrama. You can really feel an honest tone coming from both the guest and the host...

Back in '98, Oprah started this psychological segment with John Gray and a spiritual one with Gary Zukav --- but unfortunately, the audience just didn't buy it. So, you're wrong to claim Oprah is pretending to use any kind of quasi-psychological methods... That was just too demanding for the spoiled, shallow (both physically and mentally) audience here in America...

Look, this is a forum... it covers all sorts of topics...
Why not talk about mental health and psychology issues in the Health subforum, for instance?

Arthur Martinez7 said:That discussions like that should be held using those exact quasi-psychological methods, like on the Oprah show...

The mere fact that Bradley Fisher20 and Meta12 jumped on those topics says enough.

Hehhe.. why did you get into a spat with Bradley Fisher20?
I think Bradley Fisher20 is a perfectly fine guy... just like you..
As for Meta12, I've never met them, but they're probably like Bradley Fisher20...
I don't see why you're bickering with each other,,, neither of you strikes me as being high-strung or holding any extreme views...
Did you guys get into an argument over something on some other topic?

The root cause of the energetic disturbances that trigger various physical ailments is often negative thoughts and emotions held within the physical body. It isn't the negative emotions themselves that cause issues; rather, it's our resistance to feeling them and our failure to release that energy constructively that creates the problem.
When these negative emotions, limiting beliefs, and traumatic memories are gripped tightly by the body over time, they create blockages and energetic disturbances that manifest as physical health problems.

I don't know. You guys be the judge!😉

In my view, it isn't about who's qualified,
it's about the people themselves...
to learn something new...
and if not that, then just to talk through things... to discuss their own inner struggles and emotions...
One of the main perks of seeing a psychiatrist is the conversation itself...
the chance to face things they'd never wrap their heads around just by sitting alone with their own thoughts...

I'm all for this initiative!

In my opinion, we definitely need this.
Mainly because people here look down on psychology like it's some joke,
but regardless, everyone needs to understand how it works...

Emotional struggles in the US basically come bundled with just existing in this country, so being able to actually debate the human mind and behavior is long overdue.

Flowing from each core belief is a blueprint for how to live your life, how to avoid pain and catastrophe. For example, if you believe that you're a failure, your rules might include the following: Never try anything hard, Never ask questions... If you believe that you are unworthy, rules for living might include the following: Never ask for anything, Always work extra hard, Never say no to anything, Always strive to be perfect, Never admit a fault or mistake.
All of your rules are supported by a belief that something awful will happen if you break the rules. These catastrophic predictions make it very frightening to challenge your rules. These predictions grew logically during times of dependency and danger. They need to be tested for their validity...

Hannah Price3 said:Joe Biden, I can't even remember what the different endings were back then; it was ages ago. 😉

In the movie, Richard goes shopping with Sal and just can't help himself from hitting on her. That’s the part they left out of the book, and honestly, it's one of those stupid movie tropes. The whole plot relies on this vibe that they messed things up for Sal—and by extension, the whole community—through sex, which felt completely unnecessary given everything else happening. This is exactly why I say Hollywood is shallow; they seemingly can't write a single plotline without relying on sex. Maybe they think the audience won't feel any tension unless there's some threat of an angry, cheated husband involved.

Richard Hernandez13, so there's no sex with the Frenchwoman in the book either?

I felt the exact same way you did for the first fifteen minutes...

I was thinking... oh god, here we go, another Hollywood cliché.
Between the boring monologue with Leom-kad at the start... and that lovesick couple at the beginning, I really thought I was in for some tedious, hundredth-time-told story about a love triangle... and then that twitchy maniac in the hotel...

...but as the film progressed... I changed my mind.
I started realizing there was actually something to this movie...
Especially once I realized he was stuck in the exact situation I dream about... just grabbing my stuff and getting the hell away.
And that island community... it reminded me of that article in the New York Times from last summer... about that group of kids living in a hippie commune, totally off the grid in rural Montana..
And then, when they started speaking a language I actually understand... I saw it as a sign.
