Exactly!!

Spot on!!

restlesslynx said:Maybe space is just so massive that a species can only be found by another race that’s been evolving for thousands upon thousands of years—long enough to hit the tech stage required for fast interstellar travel. And if they’ve survived that long without wiping themselves out, they’re bound to be highly civilized and peaceful. They probably wouldn't even bother making contact with younger, more aggressive races! 🙂

And there’s a huge chance they’ve advanced so much
that they’re actually seeding life on other planets and galaxies

Even pacifist nations need a serious defense force.

Gary Anderson38 said:I’m praying that never happens. Just imagine—people actually doing it—and then maybe 100 or 200 years down the line, some pissed-off, warlike aliens decide to invade Earth. Who’s to say they won't do the exact same thing to their own DNA?

How exactly do you expect a bunch of pacifist wimps to defend themselves?

And look, I don't agree with you that aggression or violence is some kind of disease. It's completely normal. It's natural. It's hardwired into every living thing on this planet.
Sure, a lot of evil comes from it, but that's my point.
Humans are inherently aggressive, and no amount of nonsense about DNA or bioenergetics is ever going to change that.
And you know why? Because humans won't let it happen.

Why do you think there aren't aliens out there who are just like us—maybe even more violent?

Some people claim they're too evil to even bother, so they haven't attacked us yet. But that doesn't prove anything. Maybe they're just waiting for the right moment. Maybe we aren't interesting enough. Maybe they're too far away and it isn't worth sending a fleet all the way to Earth. Maybe we're still too primitive for them to care... maybe... maybe....

Heh,
but the point is, those "pacifist wimps" will eventually become advanced enough that they won't *need* to defend themselves because aggressive, developed races simply won't exist.
The entire (advanced) universe will be like this:

They'll know perfectly well that any malicious intent or bad action carries an immediate consequence that the perpetrator feels personally.
And... I wasn't talking about mind control—just that in the future, it will be understood
that proper upbringing is vital if you want someone to grow into a functional adult.
We'll understand which actions and behaviors ruin development...
and how to help an adult solve problems without making the wrong moves. We'll know what's okay and what's not.
And we'll know very well the consequences of picking the wrong behavior.

Because if someone is just angry and warlike—they aren't going to be traveling the stars. They'll be fighting wars in their own backyard,
wasting resources instead of investing in space missions, and ultimately destroying themselves.
(The best example on Earth is obvious—during the Cold War, the Soviets were so obsessed with being aggressive and militaristic that they let their own people starve
until those very people finally tore down the system that was forcing them into war.
Or look at our own country—what we're doing to the planet right now—threatening our own survival by messing with the climate and facing catastrophic consequences...)

And no,
you misunderstood me (which is understandable since I didn't intend to get bogged down in the details of my theory)
I didn't say aggression itself is a disease.
Aggression expressed as anger is fine—as long as it stays within reasonable limits and is handled constructively.
What's diseased is extreme aggression. In fact, extreme violence and aggression are usually just the fallout from suppressed anger and misplaced rage.

I highly doubt there are aliens advanced enough to have attacked Earth yet.
For this reason:>>
-> If there were warlike alien races, it would mean there are interstellar wars...
And we would have detected that via Arecibo and SETI a long time ago...
I doubt a war, if it exists, isn't loud and escalating (meaning it tends to grow and expand, rather than shrink or die down).

If there were warlike aliens with technology like in Star Trek: Nemesis --- we would have known ages ago. We would have heard it, seen it, or felt the impact ourselves.

But honestly, I don't know about half the things I deal with,
but I am certain about what I just said...
I truly believe it—and besides,
it’s logical. It makes sense.

Or maybe you don't want that?
Maybe you wouldn't even fight back if they tried to "fix" you?
Watch it—> "fight."

Heh, 😁
but seriously,
maybe I phrased that wrong—the word "healing" doesn't carry quite the same weight in American English as it does elsewhere..

All I meant was that unnecessary bellicosity
and extreme, toxic aggression in people will eventually become completely useless and easy to eliminate..
Because.. we'll know what counts as an illness and what doesn't.. what's acceptable behavior and what isn't..
People will realize very clearly that bad actions toward others come right back to the one who started them.
And it’s been proven by countless studies that every social crisis and every disaster in society stems
from aggressive, "wicked," and negative thoughts and actions (which includes things like persecution, abuse, and harassment).

And...
bioenergy is actually a perfect example..
I've experienced it firsthand.. I believe in it..
And I think that's where our future lies..
The power of the mind and personal energy standing against wars and all this endless hostility..
Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith in Movies ·
But you're wrong—if you ask me, there's way too much action and gunplay.. (which is just boring and totally unrealistic for that era)..

Gary Anderson38 said:What do you mean unrealistic?
You know, when World War I ended, everyone thought it was the war that settled everything—that humanity would never allow itself to go through another one.

Ha ha ha ha... more like ha ha ha ha ha.... We're barely into this century and we've already seen several major (not to mention minor) conflicts, and that's just the tip of the iceberg.

Personally, I think the movie is fine, and actually quite realistic, as far as any sci-fi can be "realistic."

Yeah..
but back during the time of i sv. rat,
we knew nothing about cloning, DNA mapping, TV, or the Internet...

Who's to say that in 200 or 300 years,
the human race won't be advanced enough that anyone showing warlike tendencies—extreme anger and aggression—
can simply be cured.
🙂
They'll know exactly which chemicals trigger it
and how to fix it psychologically.

I actually dug the music..
I’d love to get my hands on that soundtrack.

George Clooney was alright.. even if he isn't usually my cup of tea..
He worked fine for this one..

The plot itself felt a bit sluggish..
hehe 😁 I actually drifted off toward the end (though, let's be honest, that was mostly because I was exhausted), so I had to finish the rest the next day 😁

I was hoping for a deeper message.
I was expecting some kind of "message" similar to the film SPHERE
because I got the impression that this version of "Solaris" was leaning toward that concept...
(specifically, the idea that whatever you imagine manifests physically)...

anyway... I really want to see the original.
I wonder what the odds are of the original "Solaris" movie airing on TV anytime soon?
Given how many sci-fi flicks there are, probably slim to none..
Or at least, until HRTL gets its act together..
🙂

- Something must have triggered it.
- What? Who?
- Me. I was just thinking about it. The explosive: it's just flashed inside my mind. It must have triggered it.

Mario said:The pacing in this movie is so agonizingly slow that I felt like I was physically aging in real-time. It was brutal. 🙄
Just constant darkness and endless, drawn-out dialogue. Then there's all that nonsense from his father—his very presence alone is enough to get under your skin.

Heh. 😁

That’s actually why I liked it...
That's exactly what was missing from Spider-Man.
Though, I'll admit... they might have gone a bit overboard with Marvel...
At times, I genuinely felt like the director thought he was filming some prestige Oscar contender..

Spider-Man felt hollow. No real human emotion... just felt like I was staring at a comic book on a conveyor belt..
Honestly, even the comics probably have more soul than that...

Maybe the perfect superhero flick would be a mix of these two styles..

All in all, Marvel is an okay movie..

Absolute garbage with some flashy special effects. In my book, it's easily the worst Star Trek movie ever made.

Hmm, maybe it isn't exactly a masterpiece...
But you're wrong—I'd say it's actually packed with action sequences and gunfights... (which honestly bores me, and felt totally unrealistic for that era)

And I still think if you consider yourself a Star Trek fan, you have to see this one--
My favorite part was definitely that Datina "transportation" through space.

Hmm... maybe you took the movie way too seriously...
Why not look at it as a metaphor?
Think about it—we all have those internal voices, right?
Voices that can actually drive us, sometimes completely out of our control...
Or even how some people have this weird ability to "get inside" someone else's head, or just empathize on a deep level...
The movie lays all those possibilities out there, and honestly, that’s what made it interesting to me.
