Oh, please.
🙄
No way.

They’re all absolute masterpieces. Every single one has a unique, totally original plot—nothing ever seen before, definitely not ripped off. They're wholesome family flicks, perfectly watchable without any of that tasteless garbage or vulgarity.

I've had enough of that cabbage nonsense already

Richard Carter59 said:and leave the people with strong stomachs alone.

That’s maybe 10-15 percent of the people watching American movies anyway
😬

Richard Carter59 said:BTW, since everyone's a director these days, why don't you get in there and serve us something "non-American" for a change?

fine
🙂

Richard Carter59 said:How many of our films have you actually seen to be tossing our entire cinematic culture into the trash like this?

they're all the same, honey

nimblecrane20 said:So, good taste means everyone has to be perfectly manicured and glued with makeup?? Movies are supposed to reflect real life, and nobody actually lives like that...

Then what’s the point of movies if that’s the absolute truth.
If people strictly need to watch "real life," then why don't we just stop making films altogether and just broadcast reality shows and hidden camera pranks instead?
🙄

Richard Carter59 Asks:
People who brag about having "refined cinematic taste" but spend their entire lives watching nothing but *fast and furious* movies? I can't take them seriously. Honestly. 😳

Here’s the thing: real directors—the actual greats—know how to portray filth and the raw reality of existence in a way that’s both visceral and strangely captivating. They make the grotesque look artful. But this school of filmmaking we see over here? It’s lazy. Instead of using craft, they just rely on constant swearing and gutter talk spilling out of characters' mouths to make a point. It's cheap.
🙄

Anyone could do that. Seriously.

You clearly don't know the first thing about cinema...

It’s pretty obvious that 70-80% of the people in this country hate American movies and just don't watch them
. 🙂

Richard Carter59 said:Fine, if you say so. That's your problem.

Yeah,
my "defect" is having actual taste and refusing to stomach filth, violence, and pure garbage.
🙄
Am I really the only one left with standards on this entire site?

nimblecrane20 said:just because you're trashing something after seeing one single scene doesn't mean you aren't being narrow-minded...

Look, I thought I’d seen every disgusting thing possible in gritty American indie movies, but that one scene? It topped them all.
😬

I honestly don't get people who actually pay money to sit through this garbage.
As if they don't get enough filth from the local dive bars or their crappy jobs, they have to go out of their way to watch greed and pure vulgarity.
🙂

No matter how many Hollywood blockbusters come out of San Francisco or whatever else I do in my private time, it won't make these domestic productions any more watchable. It won't stop people from feeling embarrassed by the sheer low quality of American films when they're made like this.

Don't get me wrong, though—that movie is absolute garbage.

Fine.
The movie is actually based on true events.

And this is the woman behind it all:

Richard Carter59 said:Give me a break! Seriously? That’s just that Hollywood influence again—thinking everything from over here (and I’m talking about Eastern Europe based on your previous post) is trash just because it isn't "packaged" a certain way. Nobody is forcing you to watch our movies, but you don't have to spit on everyone. Not every single film is garbage.

Some girl pulls out some dough and shoves it into her mouth, and then they cut to this fat, bald, ugly old guy with a hideous mustache, food spilling out of his greasy maw while the dialogue is "enriched" with constant swearing.
🙄 🤮 🙂

What kind of movies are those? It's sick.

🤣

After those Hollywood hacks trashed Slovakia in that horror flick "Hostel," it looks like they've finally moved on to tearing apart Canada, which is where this one actually takes place.
😬

At least the killers are some kind of radical militia guys.

The only redeeming quality of this movie is Madonna's single "Jump."

Nicole Morales12 said:Andrea found a new job, but this one tried to stop her by any means necessary—threats and everything. Apparently, she landed the role thanks to some journalist she opened up to, after being unemployed for a few months and moving back in with her parents following a breakup with the guy she stays with at the end of the movie.

Sure, if you compare the movie to the book, Meryl is definitely more upbeat on screen, but it still leaves a bitter taste in your mouth.😁
Honestly, I was floored when I saw the description at AMC... they have this listed as a comedy??!? 😲

😕 😵

What exactly is supposed to be funny about workplace harassment??
😕
The Devil Wears Prada in Movies ·
Nicole Morales12 said:That’s not quite right. The movie actually hints she has some redeeming qualities since she recommended Andrea for the job. In the book, it was the complete opposite.

So how does it end in the book then?
Does Andrea just find another job and that's it?

Meryl played her like a total witch. She’d cheer her on during the little stuff and even when she was stuck in Miami during a hurricane, expecting this woman to somehow come pick her up. She'd offer her coffee and steak dinners—which she'd obviously reject—but the woman never once said thank you. Just that irritating "that's all." Honestly, it's just awful.

rustyscout31 said:Look, she got exactly what was coming to her. Her husband walked out, and her top employee quit too. She just took it—tears and all—trying to keep a brave face because kids are involved, and then she pivotally chased a journalism gig. Meanwhile, her staff were just thrilled they even had a job under her in the first place.😉

People like that are basically cursed to watch everyone abandon them, constantly hunting for new hires just to stay afloat. And she didn't even lose her livelihood—the whole thing just reset back to zero...
It never really tells you what’s in store for her; the ending felt totally unfinished to me. Honestly, I still can't stand these kinds of movies. They're infuriating.
