And not one single person here noticed or even heard it during that scene in New York,
when they're crossing the street and someone in the crowd shouts out in American:
"Hurry, hurry!"

😕😁

I actually tried reading the book a few years back, but I ended up tossing it after maybe 50 pages. Honestly? The main character just drove me absolutely insane.

He’s sexy enough on screen to make it bearable.

I went in expecting some boring, run-of-the-mill chase flick,
but I was wrong. The movie is actually decent.
Worth watching, kept me interested.

Since you clearly only care about sappy romances and soap opera drama.

Carol Lewis said:Honestly, I feel like any single episode of the series 24 is ten times more gripping and intense than this whole movie ever managed to be... It was actually more engaging at the very start when I didn't have all the pieces of the puzzle yet... and honestly, it probably would’ve been a much better film if I had just stayed in the dark about how it all played out.

As for the action sequences, sure, they happen... but I just don't get it—that first big kick in the alleyway, where both cars were supposedly going full throttle, and then in the very next scene, those doors look like someone just gave them a light tap with their foot 🤷 (okay, maybe I'm exaggerating a little bit, but Quaid seems way too unbreakable for my liking)... and don't even get me started on that massive truck getting kicked in the alley 👎

3/10

That rating is total nonsense.
The movie was just alright.

Samuel Smith5 said:If you laid it all out for him, you'd realize there's really only one reason anyone would bother paying for a ticket and sitting through this thing. Just like so many others before it, this movie leans entirely on a cheap, desperate twist at the finish line.
It reminds me of something a character once said in a truly great film: I'll tell you a secret. The last act makes a film. The End, and you got a hit. You can have flaws, problems, but The End, and you've got a hit. 🙂

Personally? I don't give a damn about the twist or how it ends. If a movie runs over ninety minutes and stays engaging or teaches me something—or in this specific case, just keeps me entertained—then it did its job.

northerncrane4 hit the nail on the head.
Go watch the movie again. If I actually tried to explain it to you, I'd end up spoiling a third of the damn plot.

Amanda Nguyen5 said:I had the chance to catch a screening at AMC Theatres a few days ago, but I did a quick scan of the reviews first. Honestly? They absolutely trashed it. I decided to skip it and save my money for something else instead.

Yeah, those are the exact people who live for low-rent American "thrillers"
—you know the type. Some cop staring at a woman peeing, while the rest of the movie is just endless drinking, shootouts, rapes, and constant swearing. To critics like that, that garbage is a masterpiece... the absolute peak of intellectual achievement.🙄

Bradley Nelson2 said:It doesn't matter if it’s unrealistic; it’s still a solid watch. As for that chase scene—those stars are unstoppable. 😁

I do have one question, though. What was the point of that intelligence officer helping the terrorists? He grabs the rifle and starts yelling about heading West during the chase. Felt like a bit of filler to me, don't you think? 🤔

That character actually makes perfect sense within the plot.

It’s tense enough and moves fast enough that you aren't sitting there wondering "Why did they...?" or "How did that...?"—though there are certainly reasons to wonder occasionally.

Convenient timing for a Thursday release, right before Bush. 😁

👍
Caught it today—right when I expected to.

The movie is great.
👍👍
If you're into thrillers, high tension, or just want an engaging story, highly recommend it.
👍

It actually gave me some Cloverfield vibes...

But honestly? When you hear that phone ringing in the movie, it doesn't even sound like it's coming from a phone... it's super weird and kind of bugs the hell out of me

swiftstag23 said:I wish I had a dæmon.🙂

The movie totally butchered it—they treated them like mere "shadows" instead of actual dæmons.
😳

Let's get the definition straight:
A dæmon in the Philip Pullman trilogy His Dark Materials is the physical manifestation of a conscious person's soul. Honestly, if you look at the lore, a lot of those traits line up perfectly with various psychological theories or even different cultural concepts.

The movie should have been titled
"A Total Miss"

Went to the AMC...
Five minutes in and you realize there isn't much to look forward to here.
😳
Fine for mindless distraction after work, I guess.
😳
The plot is just as nonsensical as something like "I Am Legend."
It even tries to be funny at times—that bit with the cat at the start was ridiculous..

At least now I actually understand the Japanese original better.

Yeah, that sounds like a great way to waste my money and my time.

This movie is pure madness. It's perfect for New Year's parties and just blowing off steam.
It isn't some high-brow sci-fi like Star Trek or whatever other geeky stuff you're into.

Tyler Sanchez said:The movie is a classic study in perversion—sick, yet strangely charming. I suppose they thought that because
Cabaret worked, and because David Bowie captured that whole transvestite aesthetic
from the early seventies, they could just roll up and film something similar. It seems they
hit a wall pretty quickly. What happened later on is an entirely different story altogether.
We were having a Halloween party at a local bar nearby, so I decided to play it
along with the cult following right at midnight (following screenings of Night of the Living Dead and Evil Dead II),
but the reaction was nothing short of disastrous; perhaps Americans just aren't ready for it yet.

Time Warp is legendary!

This isn't some cheap gum you'd find at a gas station in the middle of nowhere.
😁
I can't get this link to work. It’s just a broken video link from Google. Honestly, I don't have the patience for dead ends like this. If you're going to post something, at least make sure the damn thing actually plays. Total waste of time.

A solid movie choice for New Year's Eve...

Since it’s not airing on any major networks lately, you can just find it on YouTube.
