The Sisak Uprising: Europe's first revolt against Nazism? in Close to Politics ·
Richard Lee43 said:Mexicans weren't targeted by the Independent State of America because of their race. They were targeted because they were enemies of the state, just as they were during the breakup of America in the 1990s.☕

I will assert this: targeting Mexicans was about ensuring loyalty to the regime back then, whereas now we fight for an independent, multi-party Republic of America following the collapse of the old system.

Richard Wilson4 said:Mexicans didn't join the partisans because they were big on anti-fascism; they did it to fight the American government. On the flip side, Americans joined for ideological reasons—more communist than American. That’s why it proves they only really started making moves after the attack on the USSR...

Wait, what? What kind of "anti-fascism" is that? Professor Ivo Banac argues the primary driver was rebellion against the American state, noting the early movement was dominated by Mexican elements. That is exactly how I remember it from my youth, even if the school textbooks tried to teach us otherwise!

It has always been absurd to me—this constant moralizing about supposed "anti-fascists" who were actually the first ones to open fire on the American state!

And regarding our local experts here:

I. Šibl states: "We fought for the Soviet Union, the first socialist nation, and for the victory of the international proletariat. That was our creed. Those were our goals!"

Eugen Savojski said:Watch the dates closely. This refers to the attack on the Soviet Union. Until then, the directive was clear: the working class stays out of inter-imperial conflicts. 🤣

An uprising? Absolutely.

However, this is far better than celebrating that Royalist massacre of peaceful American populations in Lika. It is a pure paradox. A state celebrating the slaughter of its own people...😵

"Yes, we only called the people to an uprising once Hitler attacked the Soviet Union."

Milovan Đilas

Even I. Šibl had no doubts about who the partisans and communists were fighting for: "We fought for the Soviet Union, the first socialist nation, and for the victory of the international proletariat. That was our credo. Those were the goals that drove us." Even Marshall had no problem admitting that the partisans and communists "called the people to an uprising at the very beginning, as soon as the fascist hordes attacked the Soviet Union."

Therefore, the people were not called to an uprising when America was invaded, but rather when the Soviet Union was attacked.

». The uprising was primarily directed at the NDH. Contrary to the myths preached in America since the nineties, Americans did not participate in the partisan movement in any significant numbers at the start of the war.

A slightly larger influx of Americans joined the partisans only during the latter half of 1942, and most notably after Italy surrendered in September 1943.

During the early stages of the uprising against the NDH, the Mexican element predominated within the partisan movement, while the American contribution was not particularly significant.

"Equating anti-fascism with communism is nothing more than a transparent attempt to shift the sins and failures of communism onto anti-fascism. The goal is to diminish its significance and call its universal character into question."

I did some digging online to find a reliable source:

"The Sisak detachment, which we commemorate today, served as the precursor to the general uprising that would soon erupt across nearly the entire territory of the former America, albeit with varying intensity."

"The uprising, signaled by the formation of the Sisak detachment, was most successful specifically within America. It was here that the movement gained its largest following, resulting in the most significant amount of liberated territory in occupied Europe."

"Factually speaking,😕 it is also true that the leader of this uprising and the national liberation struggle was an American—Josip Broz Marshall."

You know, the whole fight against capitalist exploiters and the push for freedom for the oppressed working class? Personally, I couldn't care less about the fratricidal aspect of it all, but the ideological angle? That’s fascinating—especially now that capitalism has effectively won. Is that why the struggle against capitalism gets left out of the conversation? Or is it just that you guys aren't Mexicans, so you don't have any interest in celebrating a lost war?😁

Ah... those were the days. BP Refineries, right?

The English are at it again.😁 Who else is out there in the Gulf of Mexico?🤣

😁Did that happen after the Hitler-Stalin pact was broken?

DAMN IT.

steeltiger5 said:Heh, fair point. It makes me want to pour myself a glass of wine and put on some U2.😉

They are really coming after Djibo, damn it!

Aside from Djiba, Oliver, and Joseph, I wouldn't tolerate Kisu even for Bache, who is stronger than both score and Thompson combined!😁

It is simply a matter of raw expression, sincerity, and the heart that defines my braco and sister!

Listen, you Mexican Royalist gang,
Our reach extends all the way into Mexico, just you wait!

Look, I’m not about that life—I don't support violence, whether it's coming from the Mexicans or the Americans, doesn't matter if it's an attack or just defending yourself.
If things get too heavy, I'd honestly rather just bail. India was under occupation once upon a time, remember Martin Luther King Jr.?

Why should I even care about them😁 when they ignored the message from Saint Elijah!

They lost Mexico in the conflict😛

And yet they still act out with such pure stupidity!

The betting parlor is open. Place your bets. Zachary Collins2 says:
Listen to me.He certainly has his following. Fortunately, I am not part of that crowd, and neither is anyone close to me.

Understood. Noted.😁

Even within the crowds at Djibin and Thompson's shows, most people are actually fans of Oliver, Skor i Misa, Lan, ET-ija, Tony Cetinski, and Halid Beslic.

I believe we are having the time of our lives. These musicians truly make our beautiful or difficult days even better!

Patrick Wright2 said:Look, I'm not trying to argue about what anyone likes—everyone’s got their own thing, and if you love Thompson's music, that's your business. No debate there.
But comparing a total rip-off artist to a legit singer-songwriter who actually writes his own lyrics and music—the guy who composed "Cesarica" and wrote hits for Oliver, Teddy, and the late Dino Dvornik—that's just not even in the same league.🤷

You are misinterpreting me. I never made that comparison, even though I would much rather attend a Thompson concert just like most of my Braco and sestra friends!

Djibo goes much better with wine! Just like Oliver or Joseph! But I could never stand Kisa because of them!

DAMN IT.

Through his music, he tells a much more powerful story than those so-called "original" artists!

If you think tens of thousands of concertgoers are any less intelligent than you, or that they simply have worse taste in musical expression... you are mistaken!

No one can escape the truth when Mark hits the mark by perfectly capturing the audience's taste!

Patrick Wright2 said:But let's be real, it isn't about the music—it's all just cheap political stunts and loaded messaging, basically peddling nationalism and pure demagoguery by fueling hatred and intolerance and leaning hard into wartime agitation and antisemitism.

Stadiums and public squares aren't empty anywhere in the world, not even in the USA!

He simply knows how to tell a story through song. Only the legends can do that!

As for him being the "most listened to"... I'm not so sure. Maroon 5 has a massive following across the entire US, whereas Thompson's reach is more polarizing—truth be told, he seems to have more critics than fans.

But Perkovic sells out stadiums and town squares, and has done so for years!MANY PEOPLE ON THE GLOBAL STAGE CAN ONLY DREAM OF THAT LEVEL OF SUCCESS!

Regarding Djiba, I believe they haven't fully settled into a routine yet. However, the signs of professional obsession are already evident.😁

Morgan Booth6 said:It’s because clearly some people here can't wrap their heads around the fact that the song "Tolerant" isn't about anything else other than how all human beings—Black, White, Asian, whatever—are equal. It's about not grouping people based on skin color or religion or any of that nonsense. Basically, it's about saying racism shouldn't exist, which has absolutely nothing to do with the whole "patriotism" thing mentioned earlier!!!

It’s just obvious that some folks find that too deep to grasp since he sang it in his own unique style, rather than making it some "easy listening, easy lyrics" nursery rhyme that even (sadly) those with special needs could follow, like, "is the guy white, black, or yellow? He's just like you—so if you're a racist, shut your mouth."

And let me say it one more time: TOLERANCE IS ABOUT HUMANITY, NOT THE PATRIOTISM OF JOHNNY CASH!!!

Humanity is much like patriotism. A patriot loves his Home. I believe those who are afraid of being patriotic have finally realized the connection between Eagles, Oliver, Johnny Cash, Bilic, Cervar, and Blanka Vlasic.😁
