Just imagine if you went onto a psychology subforum and publicly announced you were a therapist or something🤣.
You wouldn't be able to sleep for weeks because of all the private messages you'd get flooding in.😁

Regarding that restlessness... I don't even start feeling it until late at night, right when I know I should be winding down for bed. I guess that restlessness comes from the pressure of wondering, "Am I actually going to fall asleep tonight or not?"
You hit the nail on the head there. You're basically stressing yourself out over nothing. My advice? Stop hanging out on these forums after 10 PM.😉
Quincy:
Do you know any doctors who might be able to help me (even via DM)?
Honestly, most doctors could probably help, and from what I can see, you don't seem to have anything super serious going on. 🤷
Quincy:
c)I work out twice a week in the afternoons and feel great afterward. Occasionally I'll do some extra stuff too—like swimming or using some equipment at home—but I don't overdo the exercise. Mostly, though, it just depends on whether I have my car available.😁
That sounds good; exercise is helpful, you just shouldn't go overboard. If you're struggling to sleep, though, maybe try avoiding those afternoon workouts.
Quincy:
d)How much does sitting at a computer for more than 10 hours a day contribute to insomnia?
It’s the exact same deal as overexerting yourself in the afternoons.
If that's part of your job, then make sure you stretch every 15 minutes or take a quick walk around the office—or wherever you are. But if you're just wasting time scrolling through forums...😁 well, you're going to have to cut back on that addiction yourself, because at that point, nobody can help you but you.
My insomnia didn't actually start when I got my computer; it began when my mother fell ill and I spent those long nights watching over her. There was just so much sadness involved... I don't even know how to put it into words. Ever since then, my brain just won't stop racing the moment my head hits the pillow. It feels as though I am perpetually listening, waiting for something to happen—it's that lingering state of hyper-vigilance from when Mom was sick, because I felt I had to be ready if she needed me at any second. Since then, I have essentially been sleeping with one eye open...😢 It is as if I am trapped in a constant state of fear and tension, endlessly analyzing everything that happened during the day... I simply find myself incapable of relaxing enough to drift off.

Well, it is my work... but the insomnia doesn't even let up when I am on vacation (I took three weeks off without touching a computer, yet sleep still wouldn't come)...
I suppose I should begin by saying that things are looking quite bright today... almost too bright, if you catch my drift. It’s one of those mornings where everything feels possible, provided you have enough caffeine and perhaps a bit of luck on your side. I was thinking earlier about how much can change in just twenty-four hours. One moment you're staring at a blank screen, and the next... well, you know how it goes. Anyway, I am feeling rather optimistic about our current trajectory. Let us hope this momentum carries us through the week... kaže: Just mentioning that "extreme restlessness" in a diagnosis linked to insomnia... it leads one to assume that serotonin levels are already running too high. In such a scenario, prescribing SSRI antidepressants or even suggesting intense exercise could actually be counterproductive. It’s a nuance where younger specialists frequently lose their way...
One characteristic of depression is also... Mood swings... they can be quite a fickle thing, can't they? One moment you feel like you're walking on sunshine, and the next, everything just feels heavy... almost overwhelming. It’s a strange cycle to navigate through daily life.It all stems from that deep sense of helplessness... the sadness, the constant weeping, and that crushing lack of self-esteem and confidence. Then there's the guilt, the feeling of being utterly worthless, the total apathy, the memory lapses, and those struggles with cognitive processing... After several months, these behaviors can gradually morph into persistent restlessness, irritability, and even sudden outbursts of rage... r.
I have a few questions: Are you a doctor? Because what you're saying sounds remarkably coherent...🙂?
I can certainly see myself in quite a bit of what was mentioned above. It’s pretty clear that I’m dealing with depression that has morphed into constant restlessness, irritability, and these sudden outbursts of rage. And honestly, the insomnia just drags everything else down with it. If I’m being truthful, I blame my sleep deprivation for my worst moods... because when I actually get enough rest, I am a wonderful, peaceful person. Take today, for instance. But when I go days without sleeping? Well, it’s only natural that I become an absolute wreck. I'm just exhausted, my nerves are shot, and everything feels like it's hanging by a single, fraying thread...
Regarding that restlessness... I don't even start feeling it until late evening, once I know it's actually time to turn in for the night. I suspect the agitation stems from those nagging expectations—that mental loop of "am I going to be able to sleep tonight or not?" It doesn't feel like a state of hyperactivity, per se... just a quiet sort of tension. Does anyone happen to know a doctor who might be able to assist me? A private message would also be perfectly acceptable...
I make it a point to get some exercise twice a week during the afternoon hours, and I must say, the post-workout glow is absolutely wonderful... Occasionally, I’ll squeeze in some extra movement on the side—perhaps a few laps at the local YMCA or perhaps using a piece of equipment I have at home—but I am careful not to overdo it. I try to maintain a very balanced approach to physical activity. Most of the time, though, my ability to get around depends entirely on whether I have my car available...😁
How much does sitting at a computer for more than ten hours a day actually contribute to insomnia?
Adam Miller46 said:This might sound a little silly... when you're sitting there by yourself, do you ever feel like your body is still but your brain is racing at full speed? If that's why your concentration is shot... maybe a tiny amount of alcohol—just a tiny bit—or a mild anti-anxiety med might help...
So she'll just end up getting drunk then😁
Just kidding! But honestly, I deal with that constant restlessness too. My body is totally calm, yet my mind just keeps spinning and spinning... and then comes the insomnia:/
Even working out doesn't seem to fix it... maybe I'm doing it wrong by exercising in the afternoon🤷
Ugh, I am currently gearing up to kick my coffee habit this weekend. My goal is simply to get that initial jittery restlessness out of the way before Monday rolls around...
The catch is that I struggle with low blood pressure. Does anyone have any tips on how to get myself feeling steady in the morning without relying on caffeine? Any suggestions would be appreciated...
I realize there are all sorts of theories out there, and we shouldn't just take everything we read at face value... so I was hoping a professional—perhaps a nutritionist or a doctor—might be willing to weigh in on the claims made on this website regarding the downsides of caffeine:
1) It accelerates calcium loss and the onset of osteoporosis 2) It can reduce iron absorption from food by as much as 75 percent 3) It speeds up the aging process by lowering DHEA 4) It triggers stress and depression—specifically by stimulating nervous stress and adrenaline... which isn't actually energy, but rather stress? And then once those levels drop, does it lead to depression? 5) It causes insomnia—even in small amounts (like if I have my cup at 9:00 AM?)
Moderator, could you please move this over to the Health PDF section? I clearly posted in the wrong subforum... I was just reading some things and browsing through, so I ended up opening this thread by mistake🙂
I’m inclined to agree—it’s probably best to steer clear of Kraft Foods, even if the flavor is quite pleasant.
If you look at the ingredients in Kraft Foods, you'll find artificial food colors, various flavor extracts, preservatives, and several other additives. Furthermore, the Niacin (water-soluble vitamin B3) found in Kraft Foods can potentially cause issues with the liver if consumed in high enough quantities. There is also a thickening agent, Food additive, derived from acacia senegal; while it is considered a natural thickener, it can trigger allergic reactions in certain individuals.
I couldn't agree more. Honestly, the absolute worst kind of longing is when you're stuck wishing for things from the past that simply cannot be changed...😢>
Zachary Collins2 said:Honestly, it really becomes an issue if it’s keeping you up at night. There are nights where I can't get a wink of sleep because it sounds like someone is out there sawing through wood... though for the most part, I've managed to get used to it and just tune it out. I actually struggle with snoring myself; sometimes I'll make a sound so loud it actually wakes me up. In my case, it started getting worse as the years went by and the weight crept up a bit. He’s been snoring since forever, even though he's quite thin...
I happened to catch an ad on TV recently for one of those nasal sprays, so maybe give that a shot.
Snore Eeze is quite pricey $53 but it actually works. It only lasts for a few hours, though... because you have to spray it on the soft palate before bed, but since it wears off during the night, the snorer would probably need to reapply it early in the morning...😁
Bradley Sanders2, you should go ahead and book a date for your husband with an ENT specialist (there are private practices where a consultation runs about $50—just shoot me a DM if you need a recommendation) so they can actually figure out what’s going on. They'll check for nasal deformities, palate issues, tonsil problems, and all that... he’ll likely need a follow-up at a hospital before any surgery is even considered!
Don't even bother asking him if he wants to see a doctor; just get the appointment scheduled. If he refuses to go, then just move him to the couch. Your sleep is absolutely vital—for your own health...

I really don't want to have to redo them just because my dentist can't see anything clearly... I heard there's a new Dentistry Inc. over on Hebrang Street. Apparently, they use tech with 4x less radiation and the images are crystal clear, though it costs $67. Has anyone used them? Any recommendations? Anything besides the place on 19th Street because their service is absolutely terrible!!
The ones on Hebrang Street are fine👍 They're practically a steal.
There's also an option on Krajiški Street, but word is the crew over on Hebrang has much better X-ray equipment.
It wasn't a good movie for me. Sure, maybe it qualifies as art, but I was honestly dying of boredom. Plus, half the crowd at AMC Theatres was whispering to each other during the screening, looking around like, "Wait, who even is this guy?" especially during those endless shots where they just show him smoking or driving down a road for way too long...
"Damn, you're gambling while I'm playing for keeps"—honestly one of the few bright spots in an otherwise tedious and overstretched flick. The first fifteen minutes are just him fidgeting in his seat, waiting for SOMETHING to actually happen. He’s silent, he’s polishing that Cadillac Eldorado, he’s having these awkward silences with his wife, he’s just cruising around in that car... thank god that Mexican showed up and actually saved the movie😬
I just finished watching it, and honestly, it’s such a fantastic film. It really gives you a deep look at how Harvey Milk turned San Francisco into the world's capital for the LGBTQ+ community... plus, there are a few lovely romantic moments between him and his partner. Truly excellent.👍
Sure, it’s fine if you want to kill two hours, but... we're talking about four women dealing with absolute chaos or just being stuck in toxic relationships. Honestly, who actually gets a happy ending and who just ends up in some endless, sappy melodrama? It’s just tedious...
The only redeeming qualities in this film are Jennifer Aniston's hair and Scarlett Johansson's curves🙂

So, I guess I should start from the beginning. Back in high school, I was an excellent student without ever really having to try, which meant I never actually developed any real work ethic. I managed to get into the university I wanted without much trouble and moved away from my small hometown to this massive city. When the first deadlines rolled around, I passed a couple of exams, and then suddenly—just like that—everything changed. College felt pointless, I realized it wasn't what I actually wanted to do, and I just lost all motivation to study. I ended up spending most of the next two months just lying around the house, watching TV, or out drinking. Since attendance isn't strictly mandatory at my university, I took full advantage of that, and for the next few months, the campus didn't see me at all. By the time the next round of finals came, I hadn't passed a single thing, and that continued for the next three years. As my friends from school started moving into their senior years, we had less and less to talk about, our schedules stopped lining up, and bit by bit, I just drifted away. Yeah, I don't have anyone. I grew distant from everyone back home, lost touch with the people from college, and honestly, I don't even know who I could grab a coffee with tomorrow if I wanted to.
I'm 23 now, and I have no idea what my future holds. I don't have any real job skills to speak of, so I can't exactly be independent and stop relying on my parents, though I suppose I don't spend too much money since, as I mentioned, I have no one to go out with. I've basically locked myself in my apartment and stopped leaving. A few times a week I'll head to the grocery store or maybe take a short walk, but the rest of my time is spent in front of the TV or online; I've written ten thousand posts here, for goodness' sake. 😳
Nothing brings me joy anymore; every day feels identical. I only change out of my pajamas under very unusual circumstances, and I feel quite pathetic. I'm no expert, but I suspect I might be dealing with depression. There have been moments where I've thought about just ending it all to stop this stagnation, but I'm quickly snapped back to reality by the thought that I have no friends and no one would even show up to my funeral, which would lead my mom to realize things aren't as great as I tell her they are. 😢
I realize that my behavior is terribly childish and immature; I'm aware of it all. I spend my nights crying and feeling desperate, feeling small and worthless and ashamed, yet I just can't seem to force myself to change. I'll sit down to study, and then my mind just drifts away, and that's that. I don't know, I really don't. And I suppose I'm doing this for selfish reasons, just wanting to find some relief for my soul.
If anyone actually read this, I apologize for venting like this, but I feel a little bit better now. 😢
So, you’re looking at starting a second degree at 23 and finishing by the time you hit 28... I honestly don't see where the issue lies. Is there some unspoken rule that you're supposed to have everything wrapped up by 23? I just don't get it...🤷
If you aren't feeling the academic grind or just aren't ready to enroll in another degree program, my advice is simple: go out there and find a job. Any job. Just get out there, start earning your own paycheck, and stop letting the days slip through your fingers... It’s about more than just the money, though that certainly helps. You need to be building something tangible for your resume... even if it feels like a detour right now.
Either sign up for a language course. Or maybe take a Photoshop class. If money is tight, just download everything online and teach yourself...
Look, if it makes you feel any better, I actually realized I’d signed up for the wrong major somewhere around my junior or senior year of college. I ended up "taking a break" from school for a little while... but I had already landed a job, and it turned out to be in a field completely unrelated to what I was studying. In the end, I just pushed through and finished the degree just to have the piece of paper... purely for the sake of the credentials. A close friend of mine actually walked away from her degree during her senior year of college. She decided to pivot entirely and enrolled in acting school at twenty-three. Now? She’s working as an actress and absolutely loves every second of her career... It just goes to show that life doesn't always follow a straight line. Another close friend of mine decided to enroll in a production program at twenty-five. He’s absolutely loving the work now... which is quite a change from the years he spent drifting through a college degree just to satisfy his parents' expectations.
To put it simply, being twenty-three years old means you are incredibly young... You have the absolute freedom to start over from scratch in whatever direction you choose. Provided, of course, that is what you actually want to do...
He didn't actually target me personally; he just wiped my post, which isn't a huge deal in isolation. But honestly, he’s constantly throwing these half-baked threats at people while acting incredibly condescending in his own posts. He selectively deletes anything that calls out his behavior, effectively silencing any criticism because he's clearly the "golden boy" here... Today, the man decides to threaten someone, hands out a ban, starts picking fights, and then scrubs any comments questioning his conduct. Sure, I was off-topic, but let’s be real, I’m certainly not the only one who drifted off-subject😉...I don't feel comfortable at all whenever I see him popping up in a thread. Thank goodness he’s managed to worm his way into the inner circle of so many people, landing himself a moderator spot on about four subforums—and unfortunately, those are the exact ones I actually enjoy hanging out in...
A sweet little flick that isn't really worth a second glance, let alone committing to memory😁 But I suppose... if you have a kid around and it's freezing outside...
Honestly, just head into a local pharmacy and ask the pharmacist for something to help you sleep. I remember when I was traveling through New York and Chicago, I’d pop into various drugstores and explain to the staff that I was mid-trip and struggling with jet lag and all the city noise... they were incredibly helpful and gave me exactly what I needed without any hassle.👍
