Cancer treatments and recovery stories in Health ·
Here is some news regarding a novel treatment approach: using a virus

And some other recent developments: treating illnesses with sound waves

There are so many emerging methods being tested right now, though unfortunately, they likely won't reach us here in America anytime soon...
The Devil Wears Prada in Movies ·
A few pairs of killer legs, some decent outfits, and a handsome leading man... honestly, that’s about all this movie brings to the table.

It just felt kind of underwhelming overall...

She actually read "Avon" as "airplane"...😬
Earplugs in Health ·
I picked up some masks at H&M and also at the airport.
I always get my earplugs from the pharmacy—the foam ones, which work perfectly fine.
They have silicone ones too, but I don't really bother with those for the pool since I have some issues with one of my ears. You can find them easily enough at any local drugstore.
I manage to get about eight hours of sleep, yet I still feel completely wiped out...

Jesse Sanchez7 said:So you're just totally open-minded about everything, even if you don't actually trust those "alternative" types, right? 😕

I only distrust people who can't seem to detach themselves from it all. I know Mimi Simić quite well...😉
She's a very bright girl, truly, but she overanalyzed things far too much when it came to sexuality. That was her only flaw. I mentioned why her critiques didn't carry much weight, mostly because someone used them as a counter-argument to some other point, blah blah blah...

The critique of KIIS-FM is a hundred times better...😎

Terry Ramos60 said:What do you mean by "their own sexuality"? Are you implying that critics write differently because they have a sex life or are sexual beings? Where on earth are you going to find a critic without sexuality in today's society of debauchery and immorality?

Just to save you from the suspense, what you’re calling "sexuality" is actually referred to as sexual orientation or preference. EVERYONE has "their own sexuality."

.

Honestly, you are unbelievable. You deliberately refuse to understand what people are trying to say, choosing instead to over-analyze every single detail just to somehow elevate yourself... or whatever it is you're doing.

You know perfectly well I was talking about the nature of her sexuality. I wasn't referring to "personal" sexuality, yours or mine. I had no idea people possessed sexual orientations—thanks ever so much for the enlightenment.🙄 Seriously, give it a rest. Stop acting either incredibly stupid or incredibly brilliant, whichever one this is. It happens with every single topic.

Back to the point: the movie was incredibly boring at times, way too drawn out, and frankly, quite tedious.

dustyscout53 said:Well, that’s certainly a minimalist critique. Funny enough, I was reading one of Mimi Simić's pieces in Feral this morning that was... let's just say, a bit less on the minimal side.

I don't really buy Minin's critiques. They feel way too subjective regarding gender identity because of her own perspective. It's impossible for her to move past that whole "heteronormative vs. everyone else" angle. But sure, I'm sure she knows way more about "that world" than those of us just watching it on TV.

Personally, I thought the movie was good. It gets a little tedious at times, granted, but it's solid. I liked it because it shows that life throws the same kind of bullshit at those "outcasts" as it does at the rest of us... you know, the "normal" folks.
Two Players from The Bench in Movies ·
I caught this when it was playing in theaters here. Personally, I thought it was a pretty solid movie, especially given how heavy the subject matter is—basically exploring how a group of idealists can dismantle an international indictment. And I suppose Skoko is playing the role of Gotovina here.😁

As for Borko Perić playing a Mexican character, he is 🙏

Man, honestly... it feels like we’ve actually started seeing some truly great films lately..🤔
Sophia Parker4 said:I think this might have come up before, but I really can't be bothered to dig through the archives... anyway, here goes. I have this friend who eats incredibly, incredibly little. She’s dropped a massive amount of weight—clearly she has some serious willpower—but when I asked her how she stays healthy and keeps her immune system from crashing, she basically just told me she lives on a mountain of vitamins and supplements... blah, blah, blah...
Does anyone actually know if it's a smart move to try eating nothing but breakfast for the day, and then just... well, having those pills for lunch and dinner?

Go ask a nutritionist😬

There was this guy I knew who dropped 45 pounds in just a few months, and he claimed he survived entirely on liquids and coffee...😁

I unfortunately missed out. I just couldn't make it happen.😢

But I am dying to know if they sound great live or if they're total garbage like Yammat...😁
To me, the album feels very "summery"—if that's even a real thing to say... but it's perfect for cruising through the city with the windows down... just la la la...

khm, a little while back you actually said, and I quote: "I have their album! And Headspace is playing at Aquarius in a week. They're great!"

do you always shift your stance like this whenever you hear other people trashing something you love, or is this just a one-time thing?

Look, here is the thing. Because the tissue is more susceptible to injury, there is a higher risk of transmission during anal sex.
But if someone is married and they are fucking their wife there, it is very likely they are also having regular vaginal sex—excuse my French—and if she happens to be HIV-positive, he will probably catch it one way or another anyway.

Well, yeah... I honestly don't understand why they don't just include a standard question on those medical tests: "Do you engage in anal sex?"😁

Jose Miller3, I am heading out of this thread now. I finally figured out what I needed to know...
Jose Miller3 said:a) there's no need to save it since most of the prep needs to be used within about 10 days
2) you wouldn't see any antibodies because the blood doesn't even produce them.

they aren't stupid.

thanks😘

so receiving someone else's blood is basically just a lottery...
Hmm, I suppose so... I've been wondering from the very beginning why blood isn't tested after just three or four months?

I mean, if you wait those few months before testing... if that's when the antibodies would definitely show up... is it because the blood samples are stored at such low temperatures?😢

Then it really is just a total lottery... there's always that risk of infection...😢

Sorry if I'm asking stupid questions, but really...
Jose Miller3 said:Damn it, Larry Cruz51, do I really have to type this out?

Oh, you absolutely do. Please, enlighten us uneducated masses...🥳

Good grief, I suppose my background in the social sciences requires me to weigh in here. Someone needs to explain why test results could theoretically look identical immediately after a blood draw versus three or four months later, even if the individual is actually HIV-positive.
Jose Miller3 said:Well, you've got it all wrong, what can I even say to you... 😁

She should probably go get tested then, right? Because after that much time has passed, you can finally be certain whether the blood is actually infected or not... or maybe not.😵
I mean, if the guy is actually HIV-positive, it should show up on a test within three to four months. Wouldn't the exact same logic apply to blood donations?...
Listen, I’ll try my best to break this down for you... as simply as possible... though it might take a moment to get through all the nuances...😁

When does blood testing actually happen here in the States? Is it done right away after you give it... or what?
Edward Green said:So, what's actually wrong with a guy who prefers anal sex with his wife? 🤣

It’s the exact same thing as some guy being gay and doing it to someone else.😁
