A little bit of everything, maybe some Jalal or even Maya if you're feeling it...

If this doesn't get your heart racing, you're basically a robot

What movies would you love to see on TV? in Movies ·
I mean, I’m watching it, but since I’ve got my recorder handy, skipping through the commercials isn't really an issue 🤷

Man, I don't know—how far are you actually planning to go? I mean, I know there are some pretty decent, secluded spots out by Lake Tahoe if you know where to look.

Thx Gary Chase 😉

Where on earth are you getting that from?

Based on the Jack Ketchum novel of the same name, The Girl Next Door follows the unspeakable torture and abuses committed on a teenage girl in the care of her aunt...and the boys who witness and fail to report the crime.

A few examples of what I’d call "heavy" movies:

The Road—that basement scene
The Killing of a Sacred Deer—the whole bit with the gun and the bandage
Passion—those torture scenes

Paul Martinez73 said:So how long does the ban actually last once you cross that 100-point mark?
I'm pretty sure I racked up over 1,000 myself, and I was banned for ten days before they finally let me back in...

A day, two, three?

I'm thinking it’s basically one day per hundred points... though, honestly, I don't really care much about the specifics since I'm not pulling moderator duty anymore.

Paul Martinez73 said:I’m still trying to wrap my head around how these penalty points actually work... Sometimes I hit 30 and I’m banned from posting for three days, then other times I rack up 45 twice and I’m locked out for a whole day.
Once, I hit 500, which basically meant two chunks of 500—so 1000 total—and I couldn't post at all.
Does anyone actually understand the math behind this mess?

The rules regarding these cards and bans have shifted around a bit lately—I don't know all the fine print, and honestly, I couldn't care less about the specifics—but here's the gist:
With 30 points, you aren't necessarily banned yet; you probably just crossed that magic 100-point threshold and got tossed into the ban bin. It's a similar deal with that 45-point card.
A 500-point card triggers a much longer lockout.
Basically, any time your total points hit a hundred-mark increment—100, 200, 300, and so on—you get banned.
Plus, there's this weird thing where the cards stay on your record way longer than the actual bans last, which is why those smaller point hits eventually stack up and trigger more suspensions.
If you hit an accumulated 1000 points, you're looking at a permanent ban.

Punk, metal, and essentially everything born from the lineage of good old-fashioned rock.
It’s been this way since the era of those classic rock ballads.
Take Dylan’s "Knocking on Heaven's Door," where the man is lamenting his impending death because he can no longer kill. Or "Sympathy for the Devil," "Midnight Rambler," Neil Young's "Crime in the City"... the list goes on forever.
Then there is Leonard Cohen. The man has a song detailing how he’ll hunt down the dealers who sold drugs to his girlfriend after she overdosed. He describes her passing with startlingly vivid detail. He even has a cheerful little biblical tune about a father drowning his son on a hillside. Good grief. He even has a collection titled *Flowers for Hitler*.

Broadly speaking, everyone is just trying to shock the system and grab attention.
Naturally, some possess more substance (Cohen, for instance), while others fall somewhat short of the mark.

I have to agree here—for a huge chunk of artists, the whole point is just to shock the audience.

Take Johnny Cash, for instance. His band started out playing gospel, he recorded a gospel album during his career, and he somehow ended up finishing things off with religious themes—yet he also records this track where he claims he killed a man just to see what the dying process was like.

Personally, I'm not a fan of black metal either—to me, it honestly just sounds like indescribable noise—but hey, there's a market for everything. 🙂

There was this woman who had to answer questions—you know, the standard multiple choice, A, B, C, D format.
She was so clueless and uneducated that I actually felt a wave of sympathy for her.

I wasn't even tracking whether she got any answers right; she just seemed completely out of touch because she was born in Germany and moved here to live in America.

I get that same sense of secondhand embarrassment whenever I see Lokas trying way too hard to be charming and funny.

Honestly, seeing how far that man has fallen... it’s just sad.

The Conversation with Sasha and the Owl is a total homage to Seinfeld—it’s that vibe where everyone just does their own thing and nobody gives a damn about what anyone else is saying. 🤣
The old folks over at the estate have this whole massive collection of LPs, but honestly, I haven't the slightest clue what they're actually worth—or if they’re even worth the shelf space they're taking up.

Is there anyone here who actually knows their way around vintage vinyl? If so, let me know—I'll put together a list and post it here.
