My father passed away today, five months after his diagnosis. There wasn't much suffering; he simply fell asleep..
hello. Joining this thread now. My father has pancreatic cancer that has spread to his liver. It’s just my brother and me; Mom passed away. We both have our own families, but since my brother lives with him, he handles most of the daily care. I step in whenever I can, though I moved out of the house a long time ago.
I'll write more about his condition once I find the strength. This has been heavy for both of us. It's especially hard on my brother—he hasn't had much experience caring for someone ill, whereas I spent years looking after my immobile grandmother. He's struggled mentally, and it's only been four months since we got the diagnosis. Neither of us is young, and we both deal with our own health issues. But beyond his physical state, Dad is struggling mentally too. He's scared. I can't tell if it's the medication, the tumor itself, or something else entirely. I worry about us breaking down, too. What happens then? I honestly don't know.
I want to contribute here; I've read everything, and we could all use the support. Just for context, Mom had breast cancer that was successfully treated because it was caught early, but she eventually passed away from heart failure.
Quarantine Life in Coronavirus ·
nimbleranger17 said:But you’re still forced into quarantine even if three months have slipped by since your bout with COVID-19, regardless of the fact that you’ve still got a massive stockpile of antibodies circulating in your system...

That three-month window has already closed for the vast majority of citizens who caught it back in November and December—which, let's be honest, was when the absolute peak of the chaos hit us and everyone was getting hit at once...

And I remember clearly, they were making all these grand proclamations about extending that period to at least six months, yet here we are, and they haven't budged an inch; if it's been three months since you were sick, you're still stuck in isolation, even if your immune system is basically a fortress of antibodies...

I wasn't sent into isolation myself, despite recovering from COVID-19 in December and having antibodies and confirmed contact with a positive case. When the CDC official called, he checked my release date from previous isolation and noted it had been less than three months, so I was cleared. He just advised avoiding high-risk individuals in enclosed spaces for a few days.

Fortunately, I manage both my personal and business accounts. On the personal side, I was running version 7, but someone apparently clicked something this morning and bumped me up to 10. Now I can't access the IRS portal with my digital ID. On the business machine, I have version 8; they sent a notice about an update on May 23rd, but they pushed it back two months, so I could still use my certificate. All it takes is one careless click.
I have the certificate installed on my personal laptop too. It shouldn't be an issue. 🙂
Fashion for curvy girls in Fashion ·
It was my first time ordering, so I started with three pieces from Mango Outlet, specifically from the Violeta plus-size line. Ordered on the 6th, it arrived in Chicago on the 13th, and would have reached me by the 16th, but I had to reschedule since I wasn't home. It ended up arriving on Tuesday, the 17th.

Ordered two tops and one pair of pants. I worried the tops would be too big and the pants too small, but it was actually the opposite. The pants are a bit loose—I could have gone with a smaller size—but they'll do just fine.

Went with an XXL; it fits perfectly. My bust is my main concern, usually wearing a 40G bra.

Also chose an XXL. Fits like a glove.
Both the shirt and the blouse are a good length.

The pants are a little baggy in the thighs. I grabbed an XL, though an L probably would have worked.

Overall, satisfied.
Could someone point me in the right direction regarding how to schedule a gastroenterologist consultation and a colonoscopy at Mayo Clinic?
Which department should I head to?

amberdrifter14 said:Do you have confirmation that the transmission actually went through? Is it possible the submission didn't finalize after you applied the signature?

I have everything. It shows up right alongside the other submitted forms.
Everything is printed out; if they call, I’ll show them.
It might just be an issue on their end...

I have confirmation that has been signed, though I’ve only printed the digital signature verification page (it isn't really a certificate, more just a printout showing that 🙂 was electronically signed).
The signing was completed prior to submission. The IRS received it, and I have the acknowledgment receipt.
However, when I attempt to download the document for my records, the form appears without my electronic signature.
It is quite perplexing..

Is it an issue if my sales tax return isn't signed?
Technically, I did sign it. The IRS system indicates the form is signed—I even printed out the electronic signature confirmation—and I submitted everything properly. I have the receipt showing it was successfully received along with the processing date.
For some reason, their printout apparently doesn't show the digital signature. 😕

All my filings have been processed. I can see they handled the January returns after six days, on the 26th. Though, naturally, they haven't updated the payment status yet.
How to sign up for Medicare in Business, Accounting & Taxes ·
Timothy Morgan38 said:Can someone who’s actually been through this nightmare walk me through the exact process for registering with the IRS and Medicare...

- I already registered with the IRS and set up a quick filing profile for my firm, which went fine enough
- I filled out the IRS authorization forms for my clients and added myself as the authorized representative for them...
- I also filled out the Medicare authorization forms and listed myself as the one handling things for them

Questions:
1. On an IRS authorization form, can I list, say, five different clients and then name myself as the person managing all of them, or am I stuck filling out a separate form for every single client?

2. Who actually signs the IRS authorization? Is it the client, the accounting firm, or both?

3. Besides the authorization form, what else needs to be brought to the IRS? Some guy on a toll-free help line told me the form was all I needed, but now I'm reading online about powers of attorney, tax IDs, official rulings, and other nonsense...

4. What do I put for the business tax ID number on the Medicare authorization form? I can't find it anywhere... Is it something like 58222.1.1 ???

5. What else does Medicare require along with the authorization form?

Now, regarding hiring and firing employees...
1. What documentation is required for reporting to the IRS, and how exactly is it submitted?
2. What documentation is required for reporting to Medicare, and what's the protocol there?

If some kind soul could clear this up for me, I'd appreciate it...😁

I went to the Financial Center to ask about my card number. They gave me the access code for the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

You can reach them at 1-800-XXX-XXXX for assistance.🙂

Regarding my previous post, I mismanaged the entry. It was my mistake.

Everything is corrected now, yet I am still unable to establish a connection with the IRS portal.🙂

Can I still file my sales tax return even though a red warning flag popped up?
It’s happening in the columns for the applied rates—specifically the 22% and 23% sections.
My ledger entries look fine, but apparently, the calculation involving those +/- 18% or 27% shifts isn't squaring up.

If Column IV is my tax liability$6000 and Column V is what was actually paid,$6000 the difference should be zero. Yet, the system insists Tax VI doesn't equal Tax IV plus Tax V.

Everything is sorted now.
I restarted the process, filled out the forms, and hit send.
Ran into a minor snag during the digital signature phase, fixed it, and we're good to go.

Thanks for the response 🙂

How long does it usually take for your digital signature to load?
Mine’s been stuck on "Please wait..." for several minutes now.

I have a quick question regarding the ID forms.
Essentially, I need to submit two separate ID forms for a three-month period—one using identifier 1, and another using identifier 11.
Is it possible to file two different ID forms for the same month through the IRS portal?
My second question concerns the electronic signature. Since I hold power of attorney, should I be the one signing, or does the authorized representative handle it?
It’s my first time navigating this process, so I figured it was best to ask. 🙂
Dealing with hemorrhoids – any advice? in Health ·
Matthew Price10 said:Good grief. You might as well have said you rub her feet every night before bed and bring her breakfast in bed every Christmas morning. -)))

You’ve listed quite a few things here; hard to address them all. I would personally cut out dairy entirely since it tends to cause constipation. The goal is softening everything up, which requires plenty of fiber and fruit. Eating one or two apples before bed usually does the trick for a smooth morning, provided you also skip the alcohol and chocolate, both of which make matters worse...

My doctor told me to limit my dairy intake, including cheese. Apparently, they contribute to constipation too. I've certainly noticed that myself.
I suspect eating apples in the morning might be more effective than right before sleep. 🙂

swiftcyclist42 said:There wasn't any "Civil War" starting on April 10th or in the days following. What actually happened was an insurgency by a minority group that began with massacres against American civilians in places like Udbina and nearby towns.
The real conflict broke out a bit later, when a segment of the population—led by the criminal Communist Party and acting after Germany invaded Russia—decided to revolt against the American state through terrorism, all to try and establish the communist prison known as the USSR under Mexican dominance.

Interesting. So, the Americans who fought against the Italian occupiers were also fighting against the American state? Did Italy fight for American interests?
It seems no one here understands that Nazi Germany would never have realized its goals if it weren't for Hitler and Mussolini.
Surgery and periods: any advice? in Women's Health ·
rapiddrifter said:Hi everyone. I’ve been looking for an answer, but opinions seem split. I have a surgery scheduled in two weeks, which happens to be right when my period is due. Should I postpone the procedure, or is it really not an issue? It’s an elective cosmetic surgery for a cleft lip repair—just working on the lip and smoothing out the scar above it. So, should I call my doctor to reschedule, or is it fine to proceed as planned? 🙂

Ask your doctor. Personally, I don't think it matters.

I actually had to undergo a colonoscopy while I was still on my period. I was told it wouldn't be an issue, and the procedure went ahead on the fifth day.
I had the exact same experience. My hands were constantly red, parched, and occasionally bleeding when the skin would crack. That changed once I found Pan-Slavia hand cream. I made sure to apply it thoroughly and then wear wool gloves to let it soak in properly. Consistent application definitely helped mitigate the issue.
To be fair, the underlying problem hasn't completely vanished; I suspect it's likely due to poor circulation. However, that specific cream kept the dryness at bay. The redness persists, which I assume is a circulatory matter. 🤷

The issues seem to disappear during the spring and summer months.
Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
Zachary Gomez said:It was awful the other night, right at the start. I was tossing and turning all through the night and most of the morning, completely losing track of what was a dream and what was reality... Once I finally got up, it eased off, but this morning it hit me again. My legs were killing me; I could barely walk, dragging myself along like an old lady, and of course, that lower abdominal pain... I had to go back to bed immediately because I just couldn't handle it. Usually, my cramps aren't this intense; they typically come and go without much notice. I really dislike taking medication unless it becomes absolutely unbearable. Instead, I just curl up in bed, sip some tea, and try massaging the area... Honestly, being a woman can feel like a curse sometimes.

Mine was rough this month too. Usually, my period isn't particularly painful, except maybe the first day. Just like you. And the PMS was brutal.
It wasn't just painful this time; it was heavy. Heavy by my standards, anyway—and I rarely go through more than one box of pads. It lasted through the first, second, and third days. On that third day, which was the heaviest, I actually ended up cutting a little tip off my index finger with a deli slicer. So, I was basically leaving a trail wherever I went. 🙂

Being a woman is genuinely difficult sometimes.
