Picked up some Twinlab whey the other day and honestly, don't bother. I paid $117 when I could've just grabbed Dymatize or Optimum Nutrition for like $370 or $390. The flavor sucks, and it clumps way worse than the others. It’s not a total disaster, but it’s definitely lightyears behind those two. Or even Universal.
Anyone know a reliable supplier they can recommend? Or maybe someone's got their own stash they’re looking to offload (I’m open to negotiating terms)? I'm heading out to pick up some supplies near Chicago soon. Shoot me a DM if you've got anything! thanks
slydriver52 said:So, did they actually test him before and after his cycle? How much progress did he make? Did they run a treadmill stress test or anything? What kind of athlete is this kid? It’s honestly "weird" that someone would blow up just from taking maybe 25g of creatine a day🙂. I'm not even going to touch the ephedrine topic, and I don't want to go in circles about the creatine again.
We didn't run any formal tests. The kid just asked what we were using, we told him whey and creatine, so he decided to start on that too. In two months, he went from a 20lb dumbbell bench at 35lbs to hitting 130kg on deadlifts from 70kg, etc.
He doesn't do anything besides hit the gym.
That's my point—I have no clue how much of that was the creatine or not, and we're never gonna know🙂
Tyler Wood4 - absolutely nothing. It's totally irrelevant what kind of milk you mix it with.
Seriously, what kind of whey are you drinking that tastes that nasty? If you’re mixing it with the right amount of water, I’ve never had one that wasn't at least drinkable, let alone absolutely revolting. :S
I’m still sticking to my guns: you don't need to "save" creatine for later. I didn't start taking it right away myself, but we dragged a buddy of mine into the gym with a solid program, dialed-in nutrition, and proper technique. He made an insane transformation in just a few months, and honestly, we'll never know how much better he would've looked without the creatine, unfortunately... I think people put way too much hype on a supplement as basic as creatine. And don't even get me started on cycling or ephedrine (not that I know much about those since I'm not looking to go down that road right now)... As for loading phases, I don't think they're necessary, but if you want to hit peak saturation faster, why not?
Anthony Campbell4 said:A mass gainer isn't trash if it’s actually high quality. That’s the whole point. Most of the cheap stuff on the market is just loaded with sugar. If you're buying that, you might as well just eat straight sugar—it's basically the same thing and way cheaper 😁 ... end of story. Sugar is garbage. Period. You pay more for quality. Honestly, you're better off sticking to whey, simple as that. And who says you can't take creatine? Of course you can. I'm just saying, since he's never touched creatine before, he still has plenty of room to grow without it. It's smarter to make those gains naturally first, then hit the creatine later. He'll see much better results that way. If he starts now, he's basically wasting it because he'd still be making solid progress without it anyway.
That’s exactly why I told the guy that if he’s got the cash... 🙂
Also, that whole thing about creatine is total nonsense.
Anthony Campbell4 said:You can even do this in the morning with some oats... it's a simple, killer breakfast that’s super fast. Way easier than messing around with eggs and stuff. Just toss in the oats, water, and whey and you're done. Obviously do it after training... or you can have it between meals too, especially if you're cutting and keeping carbs low.
Just my two cents, but I’ve tried some nasty stuff, and this is easily the worst. The mere thought of it makes me want to gag. 🙂
And why would anyone call mass gainer trash? Also, what kind of nonsense are you talking about regarding creatine...
Mass gainer isn't trash—if you've got the cash, it's an awesome option. If you don't, well, sucks to be you. As for creatine, sure, the effects hit hardest at first, but they stay solid for a few months before you just cycle it. Do a month washout, then go back at it. And I don't see why a beginner wouldn't be able to take creatine; it's cheap and it's a straightforward supplement.
Tell your buddy not to be touching my Whey. I'm out here grinding through college just to afford this stuff, and if he keeps running around using my supply, I'm gonna lose it on him. 😁 😉
slydriver52 said:Nah, I don't work for Pollock. Someone I know used to work there, but I've never been on the payroll. By "our stores," I just meant shops here in the States.😉 You got me laughing there.😂 Don't sweat it—that Optimum stuff in the ad is from Canada and it's packaged for the EU market, which is why the label looks different. It's bottled over there for the European market. And look, you can find this stuff anywhere from under the counter to legitimate retail stores and gyms.
Gotcha. 🤣
Can you DM me a link to a seller you actually trust for legit whey?
slydriver52 said:Yeah, Universal is solid. I'm drinking their chocolate one right now. Taste is a bit weird since it's actually less sweet than Optimum, but the mixability is identical. The powder is finer than what you get from Optimum, and I’ve heard Optimum's flavor profile can be inconsistent. If you aren't happy with the Optimum you bought at our shop, it's probably because the formula shifts slightly for markets outside the US, but here in America, products can't deviate more than 5% from the label (if I remember correctly), so you have nothing to worry about. The product is definitely legit. Don't buy into all that nonsense on bodybuilding forums; those places are full of myths, and most protein sellers will tell you whatever bullshit they need to to make a buck off you. When buying through classified ads, stick strictly to branded stuff—and just because Optimum is the bestseller doesn't mean it's the best.😉
I'm assuming you're from Pollock?
I wasn't even complaining about your product, so if I can't find legitimate stuff in a local store, then we really have a 😂
Look, I don't trust anyone selling Optimum through online ads anymore.
slydriver52 said:Yeah, that's all I needed to know. The one without the label is probably meant for the USA market, while they likely have the specific label for the Eastern markets. I'm guessing both versions have the exact same flavor, texture, and how well they mix?
The stuff from that ad had great solubility and taste, though the texture felt slightly off—maybe just because the flavor profile was different, at least to me...
I'm honestly done buying Optimum from those ads anyway; too risky. I'm sticking to Universal or Ultimate now. (Currently crushing some Universal strawberry—it's solid.)
swifthawk13 said:Hey everyone... if you can't find or don't want to deal with whey protein, this might be a solid option to shake up at Microsoft.
2 raw egg whites, 2 tablespoons of fat-free cottage cheese, 1 banana, 2 teaspoons of grape sugar, 3.5-4 oz water Just blitz everything with a blender, add the water, and give it one quick whirl. Tastes great and gives you a fast energy boost.
Let me know what you think! THANKS 🙂 🙂
This works fine as a post-workout meal, but it's nothing like whey. Whey has basically zero carbs or fats and way more protein.😉
@no pain - even with these ones from the ad and the poll, the labels were practically peeling themselves off and getting stuck under the cap.
Grabbed some Cookies and Cream, but honestly? It was just mid. Not terrible, but definitely not great.
Also, those Optimum tubs usually have this reflective "ORIGINAL PRODUCT" sticker on them along with a serial number printed right on the container next to it. The tub I got from this listing doesn't have any of that.
