Looking for anyone who wants to jump in on an order with me and my buddy at GNC in Washington, D.C. to grab some on whey while it's on sale:

Here’s the plan: we want to hit the target price of over $333 (My buddy and I are already grabbing a tub, so we just need one more person to trigger the 10% discount. If I layer on my 10% off coupon, we’re looking at 20% total savings. That puts the GW 2.3kg at $125, which is way cheaper than whatever you see in the ads)

If enough people join up, we can probably even push it to a 25% or 30% discount.

Sam Roberts said:I can't give you an exact number, but fries and fried meat are definitely not low-calorie foods. Especially if it's chicken stuffed with cheese.

It wasn't stuffed with anything—just skinless, boneless white meat, breaded. And I didn't even get fries; I just had three tenders and tartar sauce. That ended up being about 800 calories for those three pieces.

@Rachel Parker38/">@@Rachel Parker38 - telling me that 100g of chicken is 110 calories is useless when I'm not carrying a scale around campus to weigh my chicken and somehow account for the breading and the oil soak. I don't eat there often, just whenever it fits my class schedule or when I feel like treating myself.

Fun fact: some guy on another forum was frying potatoes and realized that for 270g of fries, they added about 200 calories worth of oil alone. Insane.

Any college students here eating at the campus dining hall in Chicago? I love hitting up that cafeteria because I can just grab those chicken fillets without any extra sides. It makes tracking my calories easy, and the protein hit is more than enough for me.

Does anyone have a rough idea of the calorie or protein count for a breaded chicken fillet, some stuffed chicken, or maybe a serving of fries?

Here’s my personal recipe for bodybuilding pancakes. I actually entered this into the poll giveaway, so if you could do me a solid and just click the photo to give it a like, I’d appreciate it. I'm currently fighting for second place and need the boost.
The full recipe is in the link below.

Look, the guy isn't just some fit dude—he’s an elite pro athlete😁

Don't be naive.

And no offense to football players, but let's stop talking about you guys and get back to the gym, which is what this thread is actually for.

Grab it if you don't mind it being sweeter than Optimum (it's basically double chocolate).
Mixability is identical, though the powder texture is a bit coarser than Optimum. But honestly, Ultimate Nutrition Prostar Whey actually smells like protein, unlike Optimum's double chocolate which just smells like cocoa. Either way, they beat Twinlab, especially their trash chocolate flavor. Personally, I think these are great (the chocolate creme is solid). Haven't tried the other flavors so I can't speak to those. If you're looking to ditch the overhyped Optimum, Gaspari Hydro and Ultimate Nutrition Prostar Whey are currently the best buys you'll find on Marketplace.

Thanks for the killer post! I went to pick some up, but the guy was already sold out, so I grabbed the Universal strawberry instead.

Tried it with water and the taste is pretty mid—standard whey-and-water stuff—but the mixability is excellent. Trying it with milk tomorrow; I'm certain it'll be god-tier. 😁

Anyone tried the Ultimate Prostar Platinum Series yet? I might be able to snag some, and I'm looking to switch things up.

Quick question—I totally blanked on getting a toll pass. Do I seriously need to grab one just to head out toward the border, and how much is that gonna run me? :|

slydriver52 said:So what specifically are you looking for in terms of products?

Whey

Thanks for the info everyone, but honestly ProSport is garbage compared to ON or Dymatize Elite, so I'm just gonna hit up the Amazon team.

Here's the email I got from the Amazon team:

Hey there,

You can order through us and we'll ship it to a USPS location in Topeka under your name... you just pick it up there and pay on arrival... If you order today, the stuff should be at the post office by tomorrow. Your package will be held there for up to 15 days...

Here’s some info regarding your order:
If you want us to ship the package directly to your address in the US:

Shipping is $5 if the order is over $130; if it's under $130, shipping is $9.80. Also, per US regulations, when you order items via mail, you can only import up to $53 before hitting customs; anything over that means you have to pay a 30% customs duty on the package value.

If you pay us via PayPal (card), we can put a lower invoice in the box so you only pay tax on that smaller amount. We can drop the invoice by about 60%.

If you want us to send the package to your nearest USPS location (for example, if you live in Washington, D.C., we can ship it to Topeka and you pick it up there under your name):

Shipping is free for orders over $50; if it's under $50, shipping is $4.80. When you pick up the package, you'll still owe a small processing fee—it's $0.96 for values up to $100, and 1% of the total for anything over $100. If you're physically carrying goods across the border yourself, you can bring up to $333 per person tax-free. So, if there are two of you in the car, you can bring $667.

Looking forward to working with you.

Best regards,

Amazon team

Can you be a bit more specific about who they are and how their process works? Also, what’s the damage if I grab it in Canada? I need this sorted by Friday since one freebie isn't cutting it.

Nobody really answered me, so I’m gonna try posting this again.

Which shop in Canada has the cheapest whey protein if I order it to be delivered to a small town in the Midwest so we can just pick it up by car?

edit -

I signed up on Amazon and tossed three tubs of whey into my cart. Now looking at shipping options, it says USPS to the US is only 5 bucks. Is that actually for real? That’s literally cheaper than the gas it would take to drive to a small town in the Midwest...

Has anyone here ordered supplements from that Flex online store or any other shop and actually driven up to the border to pick them up? Me and my buddies are thinking about making the trip, so I’m wondering what the process looks like and how much they charge for delivery right to the border.

Brian Wilson said:So does that mean my biceps will grow the fastest if I just hit them every day and chug protein right after? How much protein does a muscle actually soak up, and is there a limit to how much it can handle?

You're overthinking this and trying to reinvent the wheel.

Fat burners aren't just placebos, but they only give you maybe a tiny edge—like a few percent—compared to someone not using them. So, if you've got the extra cash, why not?

@OSMAMA - It’s honestly hilarious how little you actually know about nutrition and working out. Maybe try reading more instead of blindly following "diet hacks" from Cosmos...
If you haven't dropped a single pound despite two bottles of fat burners and all that "working out" you claim to be doing, fix your diet first.

If you think you're "toned" right now but your stomach is sticking out like a beer belly, you made the classic mistake: you just slashed your calories across the board. You lost muscle mass along with the fat, but since your body clearly loves storing fat in your midsection, you ended up looking "normal" everywhere else while still carrying a gut. It’s not actually normal because I’m pretty sure you have zero muscle, so you just look skinny-fat because you haven't actually lowered your body fat percentage enough. (Translation: you've got work to do)

Here’s the move: start lifting weights, fix your nutrition so you're eating at a deficit relative to your BMR, and get some cardio in (running, stair climber, whatever you ladies do). That’s how you lose the belly. Also, crunches aren't going to burn the fat off your stomach. I'm not saying ditch the abs, but doing 500 crunches every day isn't doing squat. Focus on your arms, back, chest, glutes, legs, etc...

NOTE: Don't starve yourself and spend the whole day hungry... that's the wrong way to do this.

slydriver52 said:Don't sweat it too much. It could just be some humidity in the warehouse, someone flipping a tub around, and powder settling on the seal, which then doesn't get glued down right during production. The Optimum tubs available over here are filled in Europe since the owner is from Ireland. The packaging is sourced in Europe, so it’s different from the American Optimum stuff. The European tubs are shorter and matte, while the US ones are shiny and slightly larger. If you actually think the product is fake, I suggest we start a fundraiser on this forum so we can send a sample to a lab for testing.

Thanks, that's good to know.

But I'm done with Optimum. It's way too mainstream now, and if there's any shady underground market for fake whey, I'd bet my life Optimum is the first target. I'm switching to something less hyped. At the end of the day, whey is just whey.

@Christian Evans24/">@@Christian Evans24 - He's telling you a scoop is about 113kcal (30g of whey), so do the math yourself if you're worried about gaining weight. 🙂

So you're telling me you could actually reseal that cap so it looks factory-sealed again?
Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Sam Roberts said:whey life is the only way 😁 😁

Honestly, I wouldn't be thrilled about having loose seals. I haven't run into that issue with Optimum Nutrition yet, so maybe you should just switch suppliers.

This is my second supplier. I've picked up ON 2.27lb tubs twice now—same story with the first guy, same story with this one.

🙂

It doesn't make sense to me. If they're opening the whey to process it, and they're advanced enough to use that black tape to make the cap look factory-sealed, why don't they just glue the paper seal down? It's not even foil, just paper... I'm lost.
Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Just ordered some more ON Whey, and wouldn't you know it—the inner seal under the cap is ALREADY broken again!

The black outer seal was intact, but that inner one? Open. Again.

Anyone else dealt with this? I did a quick search and apparently, the weight of the powder can sometimes force its way through...

I’m just sitting here hoping I haven't been drinking diluted garbage or something that isn't even actual Whey all this time.
Best protein powders for muscle gain? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
I’d definitely vouch for Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard or Dymatize. Avoid Multipower at all costs...
