Heavy color - plagiarism? in Music ·
Finally, we get a decent rock track after what feels like an eternity of mediocrity, and of course, the self-proclaimed geniuses immediately start bickering over whether it’s a plagiarism.
Jimi Hendrix - Red House
New faces in the US music scene... in Music ·
To me, it all feels somewhat derivative and incredibly cliché; I honestly can't say I'm a fan of any of it.
Ronnie James Dio in Music ·
Walter Cox6 said:It’s honestly such a shame that he ended up leaving Rainbow behind to join forces with Black Sabbath. Now, please don't get me wrong—Heaven and Hell and Mob Rules are absolutely stellar albums, truly—but in my estimation, they just don't quite reach the heights of something like Rising or Long Live Rock 'n' Roll.
I mean, if I’m being completely honest, once Black Sabbath moved past their initial era, things just never quite hit the same way for me again. It’s hard to put a finger on exactly why, but that specific magic seems to have vanished, leaving me feeling like something essential was left behind. 🙂 Some sort of dragons, magic, whatever... honestly, he probably should have just stuck with Blackmore, regardless of how much of a massive pain in the neck he could be.

The prevailing theory seems to be that Dio simply had no interest in performing love songs, and I suppose that’s why he ultimately decided to walk away from the band. 😁
I mean, if you ask me, I suspect he just couldn't stand the fact that Blackmore was always the one calling the shots. 😉 Honestly, I feel like everyone seems to conveniently forget that without Blackmore, guys like Gillan, Coverdale, Glenn Hughes, Joe Lynn Turner, and even Dio would have been absolutely nothing. It’s almost funny how people overlook that. He was essentially handing them these massive, legendary hits on a silver platter—material that practically demanded a world-class vocalist to bring it to life—and they just happened to be the right people standing in the right place at exactly the right time.

I mean, honestly, Blackmore is just a god. There’s really no other way to put it.
Jimi Hendrix - Red House

Tracklist:

1) Red House
2) Woke up this morning and found myself dead
3) Bleeding heart (blues in C sharp)
4) Tomorrow never knows
5) Morrisons Lament
6) Uranus Rock
7) Outside woman blues
8) Sunshine of your love

The CD itself is in absolutely pristine condition—honestly, you won't find a single scratch or blemish on it, and I'd say the booklet looks just as flawless.
This happens to be a first pressing.
Price - $17

I can certainly ship it via USPS if that's more convenient for you.
If you're interested, maybe shoot me a PM.

Gigging rates? in Music ·
I suppose it all really comes down to the scale of the gig itself. There is a massive difference between playing a dive bar in Austin versus headlining a major arena in Chicago, isn't there? You can't just throw a blanket question like that out there; every singer negotiates their own terms, and honestly, it mostly depends on how much of a cut the promoter decides to take from the gate. But, if you ask me, we are getting far too caught up in these tiny, trivial details...
Thanks, it's all sorted out!!!

Feel free to lock this thread!!
Could someone from the Indianapolis area give me a hand? I’ve been referred to the Mayo Clinic for some plastic surgery—apparently, they’ve opened a new department or something similar—so if anyone happens to know how they operate (specifically their business hours) or where exactly within the hospital complex it’s located, I’d be incredibly grateful if you could drop a note here or just shoot me a private message. 👍

I’m already there, and honestly, the prices are an absolute steal!!
I was actually there myself

Well, I suppose you might be thinking about the band being a bit lazy, but honestly, they aren't exactly slackers when it comes to Route, especially if there’s a live gig involved 😁

crimsonmason8 said:Geez...😲 if that's the case, then I am definitely skipping it; I think I’d much prefer something a bit more low-key... you know, just a laid-back crowd where a jukebox is the main attraction... that sounds perfectly fine to me. I suppose I might just swing by Route and see what the deal is for myself... 🙂🙂

well, then you're just a total city slicker 😁

Noah Myers67 said:No way... you can barely even step foot in the restroom because the stench is just unbearable. It’s actually wafting into the main hall too.🤣
If you order a drink, they basically just hand you some wine in a plastic cup, and then you're expected to go find some sink near the bar to pour your own water into.🙏

Well, I suppose that's true, 🤣but honestly, it still feels like a massive upgrade compared to being stuck at Routea.

Noah Myers67 said:A "heavy hole"? I'm honestly not sure what you mean by that.🤷

I suppose if we’re being generous with our definitions, you could toss a poorly maintained highway or even the Railroad into that category, though I'd argue Route isn't even in the same ballpark...

Look, the hole might be heavy, maybe a bit small, and it definitely leaves you with a nasty feeling deep down, but the crew is absolutely top-tier.👍

The Railroad isn't a hole.

thanks

Route 66 is also a total dive, honestly, but they occasionally host some really solid gigs—the band itself is actually great.👍>

crimsonmason8 said:I was doing a little digging online and stumbled upon this wrong turn of a place; I mean, the vibe actually seems kind of my style, but man, those reviews are absolutely brutal... does anyone actually know what it's like there?

I’d definitely swing by if it were in downtown Chicago, though I’d probably want some decent rock music to warm me up first... oh, and the prices have to be reasonable! That's a huge deal for me. 😉

That "wrong turn" is a total disaster, honestly, but if you just want to grab a beer with the crew, it might work. 😁

Personally, I only really bother going to that downtown spot on Wednesdays; they always have someone playing live, and you can snag two beers for $6.00, so it’s a pretty solid deal if you're looking to save a few bucks. 😁

Actually, your best bet would be to just head down there yourself and scout it out; you'll figure out what fits your vibe soon enough. Oh, I almost forgot—hard Place is open now too, which is another rock club around here. 👍

Route 66
boogaloo
great sound
slingshot
iron bar
city kid vibes (all about that rock and roll and blues)
KSET (there’s always some listening lounge there)
Railroad
room
swamp
sax (usually where you catch a rock gig)

here’s a rundown of some clubs and bars; there are plenty more out there, but these are the ones people actually know about😁 though honestly, none of them are quite what you're looking for, so maybe just hunt down some dive bar that has a jukebox somewhere😁
