Sideropenic anemia is basically just what happens when your body runs low on iron stores.

It’s so we can witness firsthand exactly how patients get butchered... 🙄 😁 🥳
Can you donate blood after smoking weed? in Health ·
When I went to donate blood with my school group through the Red Cross, we had to fill out this whole intake form first... and honestly, I can't recall if there was a specific section about drug use. 🤔 It might have been in there, along with questions about sexual partners, recent surgeries, piercings, and stuff like that.

And no, they wouldn't take my blood. 😠 Before anyone starts judging, just know it's because I was dealing with anemia. 😬 And I actually really wanted to do it... 😢

Look, the page is there, it's just that the link in your first post is broken because that 👍 smiley icon got stuck inside the [URL] code. 😉 Try editing the post to fix it.

Hmm... my mom dealt with hyperthyroidism, but ever since her radiation treatment, she’s crashed into this heavy hypothyroidism state. :-/ Right now, we're basically in a waiting game to see if things stabilize or stay like this...

The link you sent is dead: http://ikb162.tripod.com/index.html.

Honestly, I’m just not buying into that kind of stuff. 😳

And here's another thing I forgot to mention... just because someone happens to be a genius or a massive overachiever, as you put it, doesn't actually guarantee anything. You see plenty of brilliant minds or straight-A nerds who walk away from medicine entirely once they realize it's not their calling. On the flip side, there are plenty of perfectly average people who make it through. Besides, who's to say that being a top-tier student automatically translates to being a great doctor? 😈

I honestly don't know what kind of image people have in their heads when they think of med students, but let me tell you—there is every single type of person imaginable. 😬 Just like any other major at an American university.
Some people are constantly preaching that you should pick XY over med school just because it’s a shorter grind, involves less studying, and pays better in the short term... blah, blah, blah. It’s like they can't wrap their heads around the idea that some people actually have a calling for something else entirely, rather than just chasing a paycheck.

I mean, sure, you could major in Computer Science just because those developers pull in a certain salary 🙄, but if you couldn't care less about coding, isn't it pretty shortsighted to commit years of your life to it? And if you force yourself through a degree you hate, who’s to say you won't just drop out halfway through when the burnout hits?

It's pretty obvious that money isn't the (only 😁) reason anyone decides to become a doctor. 😁
My mistake... 😵 I honestly thought we had already moved past the ridiculous notion that people choose medical school just because they want to put in some hard work and hours to rake in a massive paycheck. ☕ Because if that's really their primary motivation, then they won't be choosing medicine at all.
Donna Chavez4 said:- Nobody wants to spend half their life just studying! Unless you're some kind of absolute genius or a total bookworm, you'll be grinding through medical school for over a decade. And if you decide to specialize... you end up training for nearly 30 years (from the time you're 6 or 7 until you're 30-something) just to have maybe 20 years left before retirement?!
Just picture someone hitting the workforce in their 30s (...) while our doctors are only just "starting their lives" in their 30s...

As far as I'm concerned, when you're in a field like medicine, the learning never actually stops. 🥳 It means that once you wrap up your degree, you can't just let your brain rot and say, "Eh, I don't care about the latest scientific breakthroughs." 🙄 Constant education and staying current isn't something that ends once you get that diploma.

The second thing is that you aren't graduating at 30+. You'll finish your formal schooling well before you hit 30. Generally speaking [assuming you started around 18 or 19], and from there, you're either working full-time or balancing a job with a residency or specialized fellowship. ☕

I heard people talking about alcohol, but it needs to be something "quick."😬 Like a shot of bourbon, just like John Hill suggested.

Look, calling these "phobias" might be a stretch, but I absolutely loathe those kinds of stairs. My university has a set that leads down to the basement that’s exactly like that, and don't even get me started on spiral staircases. 😵 😬 It’s not like knowing I’ve wiped out on them more times than I can count actually helps my confidence, either. 🥳

Sophia Martinez65 said:You really ought to take an NSAID BEFORE the pain actually kicks in; honestly, grabbing one the night before or at the very first hint of discomfort is the way to go. I personally stick to 400mg of ibuprofen, taking one pill every four hours.

I do the exact same thing—hit it at the slightest sign of trouble. I’ve got a hell of a storm brewing and I'll be heading straight for the ibuprofen or Advil soon just to stay ahead of it. That usually does the trick. 👍

I don't have any issue with having a discussion.

It’s just a shame you didn't stick with medical school so you could actually go out and do some good for people, seeing as you clearly possess such immense intellect. 😢 👋
