I caught the American version in theaters, and I have to say, it’s honestly one of the few horror movies that actually managed to creep me out (if that’s the right way to put it).
The plot is solid, and even Sarah Michelle Gellar didn't totally tank the movie—it was actually pretty decent.
To this day, I still get chills thinking about it.
As for the original Ju-On, there's just something about that vibe that hits different; it's genuinely terrifying. 🙂
Japanese horror is where the real scares live. Most American horror feels like garbage in comparison, though I'll give credit where it's due since this one is a rare exception. Besides, you can't really call The Grudge - Curse a purely American film anyway.
All in all, it gets a high score from me.
How far does the count go?
Have you ever actually tried opening up to someone about having OCD? I tried doing that with a close friend recently.
They just brushed me off, telling me it’s totally normal and that I’m just being a hypochondriac.
Hmm.
Nephrite said:I’m really hoping Julia Stiles lands a role in something that *isn't* another high school rom-com.
Maybe?
Otherwise, honestly, just get over it—10 Things I Hate About You is a total classic if we're talking about teen rom-coms.
👍
Mango? Are you actually serious right now?
When I think about those "new" ones, the American remake of The Grudge comes to mind—specifically that scene where the guy falls off the balcony. I honestly didn't see that coming.
really convincing 🙂
and Eliza Dushka is 🙂just
Sorry if this gets a bit long-winded. 🙂
Before I stumbled upon this thread, I honestly had no clue what OCD actually meant.
To give you an idea: I’m obsessed with symmetry. Everything—and I mean everything—has to be perfectly balanced.
I wash my hands constantly. Not to an extreme degree, since I wear contacts and need them spotless, but still.
I swap out my kitchen sponge almost every single day, maybe every two days at most. Bacteria is everywhere, and I just can't stand the thought of it.
When I'm walking outside, I find myself staring at the ground because I can't bear the thought of stepping on anything—not a crack in the sidewalk, not even a shadow. It feels normal, though, right? I also end up writing down my entire daily schedule on endless scraps of paper (since I have to clean the house every single day), including exactly when I'm leaving and every little thing I need to pick up at Target.
Everything has its specific, designated spot.
On the flip side, I have this weird thing about piles. I absolutely love piles. Just piles of anything. I once bought a pack of 48 erasers just because they were sold in a bulk set. Looking back, I realize that isn't exactly standard behavior.
Numbers have to be round or even. For example, why would I ever carry three pens? It’s either five or ten, no in-between.
I have this habit of collecting things and then throwing them away in a certain way; if I’m tossing a book, I won’t just throw it in whole—I’ll tear it up page by page because a pile looks better that way. I also have a massive stash of useless junk that I keep thinking, "Well, I might need this later."
Lately, sleep has been a struggle. Every few seconds, I feel the need to snap my eyes open just to make sure no one is watching me. I won't go anywhere in the dark. I’m constantly turning over in bed to check that there isn't someone standing behind me.
And I always feel like people are whispering about me or talking behind my back.
Before I head out the door, I calculate exactly how long the drive will take so I can leave at the precise minute. Then, I’ll double or triple-check that the house is locked, and I can't stop thinking about it until I'm gone.
When I travel, packing takes me about five or six hours, and I write a complete inventory of everything in my suitcase.
Honestly, I can't remember the last time I did something spontaneous.
I'm terrified of getting sick; I feel like I have every illness under the sun. I'm scared of cutting myself, scared of my own blood, and terrified of surgery.
And lately, I've become pretty hooked on being online and scrolling through forums. 🙂
I would never have admitted to myself that any of this was excessive or that something was wrong with me. To me, everything I do makes perfect sense; there's a logic to it all. But now, I'm starting to wonder if I might actually have a disorder, seeing as most people don't live their lives this way.
I already know I'm a high-strung person. Everything bugs me, and I deal with a ton of stress, but I always just assumed it was because I'm a complainer and that's just my personality. Plus, I have these quirks, like loving to collect things and obsessively tidying up. I've always known I'm a bit of a control freak. It all seemed totally normal to me.
What do you guys think?
