Jose White23 said:Krin1 really went overboard with the haikus—I think I'll spend more time watching the Olympics this weekend.

I'm unfamiliar with this Dravian guy and his work... someone from the group should probably look into it.

Maybe you know him as Phoenix—he's basically an institution now.
I can't recall all his various aliases, and honestly, it wouldn't be easy
to keep track of every single one of his banned clones...

A solid idea.

BTW:

Just take a look at what this thread has devolved into today... and suddenly we're back to the Mississippi River...

Jose White23 said:I have no idea why you’re making this personal—but fine, if that’s how you want it. Anyone looking at the thread about Ivo Josipović would see it’s filled with reasoned praise... we're already on the second volume.

I got flagged for this; I missed it. A lot was deleted—now I see Charles Fox10 also wiped out three tons of content just a few days ago. Krin1 is trolling as usual across all threads—she’s often banned, which seems to be her preferred way of participating. She isn't insulting anyone, so let her be.

I wasn't making it personal (you're probably referring to the part about "allowing" things)
that was more of a side note in our conversation...

The flag isn't the issue, it's the thread itself... there's no point in cluttering things up with "dive bar" chatter that makes everything unreadable and tedious.

Jose White23 said:The topic is significant—if there's already an undeniable thread somewhere, link it. If a Forum member persists without providing actual arguments, I will step in to moderate. They’ll need to find their evidence, join the debate properly, or simply back off.

I am not quite sure what you expect from this discussion—Franjo Harmon has been gone for decades now, so it is only natural to revisit certain subjects from time to time. The Sun, the truth... he hasn't offered anything groundbreaking, though when asked to clarify, he did name specific companies—so he wasn't just shouting into the void.

Since the thread remains relatively civil and involves the same group of people, I will let you mostly self-moderate—provided you don't descend into a flame war. That is not to say others don't have the right to weigh in.

I don't see why you're implying I'm questioning anyone's right to post.🤷

That Forum member you mentioned has already been cleared out a few times and received a warning, yet they keep pushing the same narrative without any proof—they listed companies, sure, but provided zero evidence of illegal dealings—and KRIN1 is just trolling, as usual...

It seems you only prohibit such things in threads about Ivo Josipović...😉

In some places, people look for evidence, while in others, it is enough to just throw insults... that is how it appears to me.

Neither you poor souls nor anyone else deserves a sanction...

Hi,
I didn't want to clutter the main thread, so I'll leave my thoughts here.

The question is pretty straightforward: why is such blatant trolling being tolerated in the FT discussion?

I won't drop specific links, but anyone who checks the last two pages will see exactly what I mean.
Not to mention that some—the absolute worst—posts have already been scrubbed.
I've been following this topic for years, and ever since lateijo started contributing their arguments, the quality has actually improved quite a bit.

But then, once the trolls settle down for a few days or weeks, they resurface with the exact same tired talking points—zero actual substance, just the same debunked lies and falsehoods we've seen before.

Are we really going to let some random interloper swoop in every two weeks to spout the same old baseless nonsense and barroom chatter?

In my view, the odd ones are those who—personally to me (as a Woman from San Francisco)—tried to force that "SHPORT" pronunciation on us back in the nineties.

As for people who care more about bloodlines than actual substance... it’s better not to waste breath ☕. That shouldn't just be moderated—it should be banned for all eternity ☕.

I don't see why discussions about the topic itself are allowed here, rather than focusing on sanctions or moderation 🤷.

Since the trolls are already out in full force, I might as well jump in...

So, you weren't even born when "SHPORT" was being banned, yet you're trying to act like an authority because you didn't hear it spoken in San Francisco?

hollowtrucker77 said:hiddenotter98, look, I think the real move here would be to actually kick off a fresh topic or maybe dive into something we haven't even touched yet, rather than just sitting here endlessly rehashing the exact same old tired arguments over and over again.
I mean, is it actually legal to walk into a store and buy a kitchen knife?
And if you do, does having that knife give you some kind of green light to go around stabbing people with it?
Does the fact that you can legally purchase a chef's knife somehow imply that using it to puncture someone is perfectly fine?
...

I don't have a new question.
I simply wanted to point out that one should be cautious with censorship—it ought to be avoided unless absolutely necessary...

Even I have been insulted occasionally, though as long as it doesn't veer into extremes, I can overlook it. It's just a discussion.
I haven't reported anyone, though once, after waiting a while, I did ask if a user would be penalized for calling me stupid... I never received an answer.

In short, I'll step back so as not to stretch this thread any further.

For matters that aren't black and white—those left to the eye of the beholder—I suggest we allow some tolerance...

Take care, and my apologies again for reviving this thread...

hollowtrucker77 said:Did you actually bother reading the thread first, or are we just going to keep running in circles like a broken record?

I did. I simply offered my opinion...
I somehow maintain the conviction that this is the entire point of a forum—to present and exchange perspectives so that, perhaps, one might learn something new, whether from oneself or others...

I stand against censorship—though I realize to some degree it is inevitable—and since I have already felt the effects of both forum moderation and various sanctions, I felt compelled to share my perspective...

My apologies to everyone if I caused any trouble... 🤦 .
I truly don't grasp the need for all this drama—or the condescension regarding whether one has "read the thread"...

Well, here we go... 🙈

So, here’s the deal with Jose White18's smiley face. 😁

I'm all about the emojis. Even the offensive ones, I guess. 😍

Emojis. 🙂

Since I'm already here anyway. 😁...
Hey admins, maybe you could let us use regular emojis in the Greetings section? Just a thought. 😁 I really miss using emojis over there. I’ve got this whole collection of them, but I just can't seem to post them on that site. 😢

Look, even if I'm usually not the most serious person around, I'm actually being serious this time. 😁

I know. Fully aware.
Is that an issue?

Jose White18 said:Why don't you tell us what's on your mind... 🤦

And what exactly is the purpose of that smiley?
An insult? A joke? Pure condescension? Or something else entirely...?

I was under the impression this was a place for sharing actual perspectives—not getting met with a facepalm for doing the same.
One learns something new every single day...

Interesting.
I am generally against bans—unless we are talking about blatant, obvious abuses of power!

Isnet freedom actually a thing anymore, or is that also being phased out...🙂

gentletiger11 said:Look, I respect everyone's remains, regardless of who they were. But honestly? I don't see any reason to build some massive monument or tomb. We should be focusing our energy on building things for the living. Let the dead rest in peace. Personally, I’d be happiest if they just cremated me and let my ashes scatter in the wind once I'm gone. A truly civilized society—well, eventually—should move toward full cremation for everyone, both those currently living and those already passed. Instead of sprawling cemeteries, we should be using that land for actual, useful facilities.
At this rate, we won't have any room left for community development because everything is being taken up by graveyards...
Besides, besides the obvious political grandstanding—because let's face it, everything is politics these days—this move wouldn't actually satisfy everyone whose bones would end up there. And since we're already such a divided nation, something like this would just drive us even further apart.
Bottom line: let's think about the living, and leave the glory to the dead....🙂

To reiterate—I didn't take the idea as a literal relocation of bones, but rather as a memorial site for those without a known grave.

goldenhawk1 said:Then again, one could pose that very same inquiry to the families of those who fought on the opposing side.🤷

I can imagine the responses coming from both my perspective and theirs.

Once all that's been said, we might finally touch upon the actual feasibility of such an idea, only to find ourselves back at square one, wondering where the conflict lies .

I have no interest in a reconciliation that looks like: "Come make peace with us, while we offer you nothing but a cold shoulder."

What kind of hellish reconciliation are you talking about? Who exactly am I supposed to be making peace with?

We’re talking about a single site to honor the victims—ideologies aside...

Daniel Bailey39 said:And look, if we’re going by that logic—where a grave containing Italians, Germans, and so on isn't labeled as purely American but rather as a collection of different nationalities—then fine. If we really want to take it that far, let's just build a massive monument in New York City dedicated to all the victims of every war, and we can lay flowers there as an international offering for peace.

The term "All-American" doesn't imply a specific ethnicity, but rather a sense of belonging...

Essentially, anyone who identifies as American—who stands for the US.

And I don't think we're talking about an actual relocation of remains—more of a symbolic gesture...
The All-American Graveyard: What's the problem this time? in Close to Politics ·
It’s honestly quite sad how quickly everyone jumps to attack this idea.

Regarding the question about the borderlands—those who were citizens of the USA are fine—let them be buried there, provided their families actually want them back.
At least in a cemetery, we can finally set aside our ideological baggage and other petty divisions...

The reality is that we’re left with piles of unmarked graves from the last century, and doing this would simply be showing them the respect they deserve.

But no.
Instead, much like with the Altar of the Homeland, we’ll just prove ourselves to be nothing more than narrow-minded peasants...
The All-American Graveyard: What's the problem this time? in Close to Politics ·
Bishop Mile Bogović is proposing a "national memorial" to be built out on the Great Plains in Appalachia. The idea is to create a symbolic resting place for anyone whose remains were never properly honored—including those lost in unmarked military sites or those thrown into mass graves and trenches during the war.

Do you all support this concept?

Can't we just move past this and leave WWII in the last century...

hiddensurfer17 said:Just look at the choice of words.

No, I wasn't referring to your comment—that’s why I quoted him instead of you.

I just wanted to share my take on those years... what I meant was that, looking back at that initial lineup of parties during the first elections, the Republican Party wasn't extreme by any means. If anything, they seemed far too mild to me. They never truly made an unambiguous stand regarding an independent state, and that's what I was looking for...

Jesse Morgan3 said:I totally agree with this post, except for the part in bold. What exactly do you mean by "nationalistic rhetoric"? Are you suggesting their goal was an independent America?🤷

What you claim is irrelevant—whether or not someone specifically fired that RPG—is actually quite important to me. Ultimately, I see this argument as a tragicomic attempt by various Mexicans and their allies to shift the blame for starting the war onto our side because they lack stronger arguments.
I mean, "Oh, Šušak fired the RPG at Borovo and started the war... and then oops..."

"Hmmmmm... yeah," the late Seva might have said...

All I recall is that I didn't cast my vote for the Republican Party—it was for the American State-Building Movement...
FT was somehow completely stuck in his ways—the Republican Party never really had a clear stance on an independent America...
FT was just sort of drifting around, in my opinion—playing the independent card, then leaning toward confederation, followed by that moratorium, then all that back-and-forth nonsense...

Back then—young, green, and perhaps a bit too eager—I just wanted a crew that would say a definitive "bye" to the old America and its various republics... a clean break to say hello to the rest of the world and the EU...
I didn't quite grasp those global political games... and now everyone is talking about nationalist rhetoric—as if that's such a dirty word...
They were always walking on eggshells, making sure nobody took offense... it really got under my skin—I've mentioned it enough times now... just how grating it was...
Who fired the Ambrust at the small town in rural America? in Close to Politics ·
I have no idea who was involved or if anyone actually opened fire—I wasn't there myself.
I'm just wondering—and I know what the OP was getting at here—if this is even true, what does any of it have to do with anything...

So they fired shots. Big deal.
War breaks out, people start shooting. It's just part of the conflict...

And those idiots—there isn't a better word for them—who try to sell the idea that the war in Slavonia started because of this? They're nothing more than political buffoons.

shadoweagle96 said:Who stood with Stalin, Marshall, Mao Zedong, Pol Pot, Castro, or Ceausescu? Certainly not the right wing. So much for your brilliant comparison.

So, who exactly were the National Socialists?

And besides, what does being "right-wing" even mean anymore? A conservative?

I get the impression that in America, "right-winger" is just shorthand for villain... it’s as if people swapped out the word "bourgeoisie" for "right-wing."
I suppose we should brace ourselves for some new version of a "class struggle" to emerge from nowhere...🙄
